Awesome haul Marla!! Our granddaughter, Evelynn Mable, always tells me,”I wish you would live with us MoMo!”!!! So precious ❤❤❤ Thank you for the idea of putting a vintage sink in your she shed!! We salvaged a sink from the old high school auto shop that has 3 spigots and the she shed is where it’s going to go!❤❤❤. Can’t wait to see how you decorate your she shed🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
How awesome, finding the old sink with 3 spigots! That will be perfect in your she shed!! 👏 I adore your granddaughter's name! Evelynn Mable is tooooo sweet 💕
Marla I love watching your videos... you are such a joy to watch. I was thrifting today but didn’t find much other than some mason jars with lids that are just like brand new. I pray for you when I think of you and pray for good weather so you can finish your she shed. Looking forward to part two of this video. I love the quilt with the roses on it. All the best and I’m glad you didn’t edit your video. It’s all so real life. God bless!
Beverly, I love to keep those everyday moments in my videos, because **I** love those moments! I'm glad others do too ❤️ Next time you thrift, you're liable to come across something amazing. That's the way it goes. You never know when or what you'll find! Thanks sincerely for your prayers and well wishes. I appreciate them more than you know! 😘
I love Joel's personality! He's 21 and tends to already know everything in life 😄 but there are moments when he won't even take responsibility to stop the chicken from boiling...
The chair 🪑 is so beautiful and finding those old books 📚 is actually a true treasure but the capri pants 👖 and “mind your own business “ cracked me up 😂
Youngsters who wear shorts can't relate to our age group, and speak as if they have the authority to set the rules for everyone else, and that's crazy!! I'll just shake my head and go right on doing what makes sense for ME 😄 💃 ✨️
How precious is Margaret? Coon Hunters handbook 😂 🦝 Now that’s a unique item! You crack me up. I let my dog out to potty last night and there was a raccoon on my deck which she chased! It freaked me out for a minute but she came back home, but I’m out there yelling at her, Gypsy Gypsy! Lordy! Well girl I think I’m going to call you the quilt rescuer. If only they could talk. Oh the stories! 3 weeks is pretty darn close! And in the midst of it all you’re cooking yummy soup. 🥣 Bless your quilt pickin’ heart! ❤
A raccoon encounter on the back porch is too close!! They are bold critters! Glad Gypsy came back. I do believe I will rescue old quilts whereever I find them! And my soup did turn out yummy. Felt like it nourished both the soul and body 🍲 🙌
@@marlacainraisingcain mine too. I have 5. My son with 4 just moved to Texas! The good news is he sold his property here and has within two months bought two properties in Texas and is going to flip them. He does hardwood floors for a living and has his contractors license. Flooring is hard on his body so he likes the idea of flipping houses on his own time. This is my first Easter that I didn’t have a big family get together because the kids weren’t here. 🥺 Keep on keepin’ on. You’re almost there!!! ❤️
My sweet Granny made crooked imperfect quilts and I love everyone that she gifted to me..I wouldn't trade them for the world....she always stitched by hand also...You found some wonderful treasures......Take care dear friend.
Lol, you so make me giggle. 😊 I just love your personality. Every time I watch one of your videos it's like story time for me. I am an avid reader so I do so enjoy a good story. And you lady are a wonderful story teller. Even though its just every day life for you, you make it interesting to hear about. And who doesnt like to laugh right! Its good for the soul. 🥰 Great haul by the way. I love thrifting so it's great entertainment to see the treasures you find. And fabulous ideas to keep an eye out for. Hello to Joel! 👋 😁
Tina, I can talk the ears off a billy goat 🐐 so I'm really glad there's someone willing to listen! 😄 I am also thrilled to share my finds with my kindred spirits who love old junk like I do ❤️
Hi Marla, I can't wait to see you put all your special treasures in your she shed it's going to be 😍 fantastic. You are such a joy to watch, you are so down to earth, see you in part 2, until then take care Fran. Have a good night and God Bless you and your family!!🤗💕
Brenda, we are gonna have so much fun when I can start moving my stuff into that shed!! I will love doing it and I will make sure all my frans see every step of the journey! 😊 ❤️
Thanks for taking the time out of your very busy life to share your wonderful finds. So many things I would have loved to brought home with me. I have a collection of miniature chairs and that Windsor one was fabulous. Marla,I hope people don't give you flack about your treasures. Anyone can tell what a generous soul you are. And we love seeing all your finds and how you plan to use them. I look forward to each of your videos. Tell Ella not to be falling down on the job. I miss her snoring. 😁
Ella manages to be in every video, one way or another! I am so glad you enjoy seeing what I find "in the wild" ... and I don't think I'll ever grow tired of the hunt! So the only way I can keep enjoying the hunt is to share the treasures. We know a young single mom who enjoys many of my finds. I love surprising her with good stuff! 💕
I applaud you for donating back! I buy things I love and I admit I have a difficult time getting rid of things... I have a 20 by 24 garage that stores my overflow treasures and I NEED to sort and purge in the worst way! I got to giggling when you were talking to your son, and then standing on your head to get things out of the bag on the floor, I will be 62 in June, and I am with you when it comes to wearing what you WANT, to be cooler and comfortable, and also decor in shabby granny chic!
Oh, it's so tempting to let it pile up, but then I can't enjoy any of it properly. I have to force myself to cull it out regularly. Watching episodes of Hoarders helps me get rid of things!! I don't want to leave a mess for my children to sort out after I'm gone! Joel is my bonus child, born AFTER a vasectomy and after I was told I shouldn't ever have another child. God sent him anyway, and he has been an absolute delight to all of us! ❤️
As for cool and comfortable, I love a loose cool dress in the summer, and I wear knit shorts undergarments with my loose dresses. The shorts are a game changer. Most comfy thing ever!!
Always a great haul! Love the doll Windsor chair, and I think the bead necklace would make a fun and whimsical curtain tie-back. I'm a sucker for cute tins too! I just snapped up four of them! You are doing such a wonderful thing by sharing your home with your adult children! What a blessing you and Ben are to them! Tfs your life and treasures with us all! 😊😁
You are so sweet! Ben and I will probably never have an empty nest, and that's kinda wonderful 😊 💕 The tie-back idea for curtains is great! Hadn't thought of that! 👏
That’s called a peek-a-boo quilt. In the 1800’s they would take broad cloth-feed sack some type of solid color that had a light pigment and put over a worn out quilt to prevent tossing. Very rare!
Oh you teaser!!! Of course l will watch even without the tease!!! Ohmygoodness to finds amazing treasures for those prices...wow! Fantastic job donating some of your things. I just downsized from a 2 bedroom apt to a 1 bedroom and talk about letting go of stuff. Loved your video aa always. 💕
Elaine, I have never moved and let go of so much stuff before!! Once I get my shed outfitted, I will be hard pressed to ever move from this property! 😄
What lovely treasures you found!!! I have quilt made by my great great grandmother that has the exact same backing as the first quilt you showed us. I'm thinking that it might be the same type of fabric they used to make the old timey mattresses.
Lordy, I will have to go back and see what I even showed in this video, because my brain can't even remember another one with stripes on the lining side 😄 but I am rather crazy, so...
Marla, that big box you’re referring to is called a gaylord and they are used for large batches of produce.(watermelons, eggplant, etc.). The quilts are gorgeous!!! If you google lens the fabric you might be able to date it. I loved this video unedited! What a hoot!!
Never knew it was called a Gaylord! The only Gaylord I've ever heard of is at the Grand Ole Opry 😄 I did try Google lens but nothing came up as an exact match or even a vintage match. My momma might know. Someone once asked if I plan and script my videos, and I told them heavens no! I just press record and let 'er rip!! 😄 🏃♀️
That’s what we call those boxes here in the northeast. You may have a different name for them in the south. As for letting the video roll, I love it! No script needed!!
My mthr-n-law & her mom were fabulous quilters. I was blessed to be gifted several. My in-laws built a beautiful cedar A-frame summer hm in NC. She hung a quilt from the loft's railing. Your floral quilt (#3, pd $7.99) would look lovely on your loft's rail😉 I 👏 you for donating your extras. ❤
I hadn't yet thought of hanging quilts from the beams 😍 and that would be fabulous!! I did think I'd hang baskets, and maybe my old sled and old wagon... and knowing me, I will switch things up just for fun! 💃
I understand your frustration of having your home piled up. We started a bathroom remodel and discovered rotten floors. We are both in our 70's and doing the work ourselves. Son helped put the floor back and daughter helped with shower doors. This week should finish our bathroom I'm hoping
Kathy, every time we have done a remodel project, we manage to mess up our entire house!! Not just the place we are working, but I mean every other room gets wrecked while we are working!! 😭 but it does finally end, just shortly before we all have to be laid in the ground from the stress 😩 😄
I don't think I will risk washing these oldest ones. They have no smell, and are so fragile I believe they better be left as is! But I agree, Oxy Clean does a good job in brightening up the ones strong enough to take it! 🌞
Great finds. Love the quilts and those candles. You are the third youtuber I subscribe to that has shown The Secret Garden this week. If I wasn't a Christian I would believe the universe was sending me some sort of sign, lol.

That is cruel... i was leaning forward trying to look down into that wrapping paper when you whipped it away
Haha, Brid, you'll be on the edge of your seat for a couple of days! 😄
My grandmother quilted I’m that arc style. It was easier on the quilter’s hands to quilt in an arc.
Late reply here! I've heard my mother say the same about the arc style. So pretty 😍
Marla I think that fabric on the quilt is a type of ticking.😊
I just never knew that design was made as ticking! 😍
@Marla Cain • Raising Cain well I'm not positive, it just has that look 🤔
I agree, it does have that look. I will ask my momma if she knows another name for it!
The quilting pattern is called a “fan” pattern.
Very fitting! My mother told me that when someone quilts by themselves on a lap hoop, it's a convenient way to quilt, in those arches 😍
I wear capris too. The South is too hot!
Viva CAPRI PANTS!! 😄 🥵
