The dragon/ rapid burner has a spot for a bead temperature thermistor to measure the temperature of the heat sink and a block of klipper code to stop the print if the heat sink gets over 85c. Since you have an EBB 36 and if you are using a PT 100 or PT1000 on the MAX chip you have another thermistor connection to put this bead thermistor. This is a lot better solution than a tach fan because even if the fan is working you could for some reason get heat creep and this would let you know about that. It is probably and even cheaper solution and easier to set up.

Also adds the safety that it isnt going to be shut down at false readings on a Tach fan as well,

      Not everyone uses a Dragon/Rapidburner

This can be mitigated through the max_consecutive_stops setting. Too many consecutive false positives indicates a problem with the fan or wiring.

Why the horrible zoom in/zoom out? Why?

Is the diode only needed because your using the endstop port to power the fan? If my board has a 3/4 pin fan header i dont need a diode correct?

The diode is needed to stop the fan from grounding through the tach line and running constantly. Not every fan does this, but adding the diode is cheap insurance.

Sound like a good idea. I've been thinking about a thermal fuse like they use on heatbed's that will cut the power of the hotend in case of thermal runaway and if those safety's fail. Don't know if anyone has done that before, but sounds like a nice extra safety feature in my head. Lol

I've had thermal fuses on my hotends since 2016

Great video mate, this may be a silly question but are all fans with 3 wires the correct fan for this purpose?

Not all of them, it may be either a tach line or an alarm line. An alarm line will tell you if the fan just stops completely. A tach line gives you a lot more potential to use software

Very interested in the belted Z setup. Is there more information available for this on the V0?
