Thanks for quite a thorough and honest review. I've been researching the pants off this model, although we will get the auto, and after watching and reading 50+ reviews I'm impressed that your video managed to pack in so much useful stuff in a small package....sort of like the Vitara itself! I understand that recently Suzuki have made efforts to update some aesthetics to the body but nothing groundbreaking. I suggest a potential buyers to test drive the 1.6 standard model first THEN test the 1.4 turbo....it should impress most people and the increase in tow is totally addictive. We will get the auto later this year in silver and pay a little extra for all those black accents you can see if you look hard enough in the video above. We currently have a much older 2.7litre V6 and I simply can't wait for the update, the new 1.4 will give us over twice the fuel economy with (as evidenced first-hand in the extensive test drive) equivalent, if not greater, grunt and far better handling. This is clearly a budget SUV for those who value pure driving experience over soft feel plastics and other bs. Cheers
Robert Lloyd many thanks and really appreciate the support. Took the Vitara down to the South Downs and Beachy Head nr Eastbourne along with the Caterham Seven. A great day and some lovely views.
hi thank you for the nice vid. I'm seriously thinking of buying one of these for my wife. Shes a carer for the oldies, and currently drives a i30. not a bad car, but she finds it very uncomfortable. Ive tried all seating positions and steering wheel adjustment etc pillows etc. shes 5"3. but claims shes 5"4. any suggestions?
Yes - if you get winter/all season tyres. After one year of ownership I only have three gripes - crap nav system, poor wet/mud grip and .... the only time I will ever quote Clarkson .... "doors like tracing paper". Yes, really. If you're planning on having something smack into you, ask them politely not to sideswipe you - else your next motor will be a wheelchair.
@@skyarc9516 Seems to perform like other cars in side impact and they gave it 5stars: ua-cam.com/video/Jk82CdghMkM/v-deo.html RE winter. It has better 4x4 system than audi if that helps
Is the Suzuki Vitara going to be available in the U.S.? I owned a1996 and a2002 vitara and I loved them. I gave the 2002 to my grand-daughter and she loves it.
hello, would it be possible for a few answers on the sat nav please, : can it be updated by the end user or dealership only? how much? does it have lane assist or junction view? does it notify you if your speeding? many thanks.
Jamie Pickles thanking you. The great thing with the Vitara is a starting price of £14,999 for the base model, so if that means hard plastics, then we can live with that. Loving that Suzuki are keeping prices low and offering plenty with it. Are Suzuki the new Skoda?
own one and like it, But and I know all manufacturers make a big deal about it, those infotainment systems in cars, I find them so distracting and downright dangerous I drive with it turned off anyone agree ?
I also find that the infotainment system is distracting, and something I could do without. The Garmin sat nav is too fiddly, and time consuming to use. I much prefer the simplicity of my old tomtom input set up.
Great review, Matthew. I do like Suzuki engineering, but from the look of your film, and what you were saying, it is a bit plasticky and tinny looking.
Feudal Serfer not surprised by amount of outside noise entering the cabin - the doors are soooo light and cheap looking. Thats the price for relatively low weight for 4WD SUV. At 5:55 author mentions 52 mpg, which translates to 5.4 L/100 km. I get 8 L/100 km on Nissan Tiida with 1.6 AT which doesn't provide 4WD nor amount of torque.
gavin archer are those competitors in the same category? The 3008 has quite a bit more quality than the Vitara, and in my country the 3008 costs almost 3x as much as the Vitara.
Good review, but ultimately rejected the Vitara, just not my style - despite the tech, still too 'oldschool' looking inside and too plain outside. And hard plastics to save cost isn't unusual, but Suzuki needs to improve cabin noise, especially from the engine - its not that hard, or expensive. But _great_ car for the money, feature rich for what you pay, and quite solid where necessary.
please stop quoting manufacturers miles/kilometres fuel performance. You and everyone now knows it is total BS and has no relation to real life driving, yes I own the model and am a careful driver I get much less than your quotes for MPG. If you must mention these figures qualify it by saying it is done under controlled conditions and expect less than manufacturers figures.
Totally understand what you are saying and every single time mpg figures are quoted the line "on an official combined cycle" ALWAYS accompanies it. However, it would be remiss of us not to quote them and likely to cause more uproar than not quoting. Where we can, we will always quote the MPG we achieved on our test route either verbally or written underneath the official figures.
I wish the presenter would talk more fluidly. He punctuates multiple times during each sentence, and, often, between, each, and, every, word. It's so uncomfortable for me to listen to, I stopped watching half way through.
A really well presented review. The vitara delivers the best value and its reliability is outstanding. The thinking man's mini suv.
Suzuki must be doing something right with the Vitara, it scored a creditable 6th place in the Auto Express driver survey.
thanks for the review,, just bought myself the vitara s 2017.. fantastic car.. love it..
Do u still love it.. thinking of getting used 2017 one . Thanks
Me too, did you buy yours?@@JA-xz4vr
Good honest review. Very believable without agenda.
Thank you Paul. Appreciated.

Many thanks for the kind words. Good luck with your new Vitara when it arrives. Would be great to hear how you get on with it.
just curious which body color you are getting the black accents for? Have fun with the new car.
That swift headrest adjustment though
That elbow move on the rear headrest was a whole day of training at Pretentious Presenter Training School 😉
Suzuki vitara 1.4 s var bende. Kesinlikle harika. Konfor, güç ve estetik hepsi birarada.
another very interesting review enhanced by some lovely scenery
Robert Lloyd many thanks and really appreciate the support. Took the Vitara down to the South Downs and Beachy Head nr Eastbourne along with the Caterham Seven. A great day and some lovely views.
At 8:54, do you not mean 185mm, rather than cm!
Very well presented review, what "Top Gear"and the such like should be doing. Keep up the good work, thanks

Will this car get me home in snow with the allgrip in uk winters ?

RE winter. It has better 4x4 system than audi if that helps
Other vids show model from last year had heated seats, but not in latest model??

Timothy Roth sorry not possible. they sell that suv in mexico .maybe you can imported from there
Why does nobody ever review the audio speakers? Even if it's the best car out there, if it has shit audio quality I'd rather buy something else

Great Video Review. The only that disappoints me Is that there Is no soft touch materials

Only minus points, cheapo carpet, wind noise from mirrors or roof rails, otherwise really like it.😊

It IS a bit tinny, but after trying all the other options, this was the best fun to drive.
3008 or vitara. Hmmmmm. It all adout 4 wheel drive over style.
And what did you choose?

I consistently get 39 MPG.
