Thanks for showing the edging I was curious how that was done. That wood looks awesome for some projects I’d like to do with my grandson. Keep the videos coming. Love it.
Got to do it. Even on the battery mower, two grease fittings and a couple of deck rollers to oil. Then MOW..............when I'm not snapping beans. Happy weekend and GBWYall!
My grandfather had a small portable mill that he moved around cutting small tracts. Mostly 40 acres or less. Old international or Detroit power unit, had a miners edger! Miner was built in Meridain Ms. Soule steam works
Worked in a high production pine saw mill in the eighties. We had two edgers one behind a 9 ft band mill head rig and the other edger was behind a chipping saw, I ran the edgers and the resaw and we had a canter machine the mill would cut 240.000 board feet in a eight hour shift. Worked the log yard ran deck saw debarker barko loader! Who ever didn’t show up to work the shift man had me do it lol! Ran the cat 966 loader as well! Lots of hard work for sure
Hi Mark & Ed. I know. Your sawmill set up. I saw you two build the sawmill's building. Up to now. Thanks Mark & Ed. I appreciate the time & showing us. The first part before the actual sawing. Have a good December 26th night. 🥰😊😉🥶👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Seeing you scoop and clean the sawdust made me remember an old timer telling me that when he was 10, back in the 20s, was paid a nickel a day to clean all the sawdust that piled around the mill.
Shoveling MOUNTAINS of sawdust! I always liked a bit of sawdust around as evidence that I was actually doing something, but too much of a good thing can be a safety hazard. Onward to the new year!
Dear Mr. Galicic and Mr. Horvath. 👍👌👏 I like these maintenance videos a lot because I like to know almost everything about technical stuff in general. For instance all the circumstances neccassary to run a sawmill plant like yours. 2) Oh WOW, that's an enormous amount of sawdust under and beside the carriage. I wonder if you could minimize that with the same kind of contraption that you will build for the edger sawdust. I also wonder if you can use one of those relatively inexpensive leaf vacuum (leafes sucker?) garden devices? As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all involved.
Okay, starting to understand more I thought it was something like that never quite new. I've always wondered about the actual mechanics of the edger. I had an idea of what was going on but now I know what's going on. And like you said a good edger can make or break a sawmill. So the faster you are not paying much attention to the yield, the more inefficient you will be. So being methodical and precise while still keeping things moving, the more efficient you will be netting more board feet? Very interesting awesome video again. 👍
My three favorite features of the workflow: 1. The housing hatch clasp. 2. The work positions' that are many feet away from the munching edges. 3. 2 pairs of safety glasses. Ok, that was technically five but safety counts.
As of the first of the year, it is no longer Kohler. David Kohler sold the engine part of the business after is Dad passed away. It is called rehlko now, all of the warranty for the Kohler engines are still ineffective. The only that has changed is the name. The engine you have on your edger is a very good engine. That engine was made in Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Very nice way save some lumber. But their is small market for live edge wood 🪵 oit their. Remember do fire wood with dad when he had wood stove at my parents house. Merry Christmas 🎄 guys
That is life working in a sawmill, Mark. There is some easy work and, of course, some hard work as well. Remember safety is first.
Thank you for this! Really appreciated it!
glad you liked it.
That answered all my questions about the edger. Good work, men.
thanks Paul.
Really enjoyed this video and the explanations on the workings of the edger.

your welcome Dan.
Seeing you scoop and clean the sawdust made me remember an old timer telling me that when he was 10, back in the 20s, was paid a nickel a day to clean all the sawdust that piled around the mill.
Wow a nickel a day! most people won't pick up a nickel.
@@markgalicic7788 In 1925, that was almost a dollar in today's money. You could probably buy a lot with .25 cents when you're 10.
Enjoyed that. Agree with the others. You guys should show a little more of that. Cool video. From Shelby N.C. thanks for the ride.
thanks John.
Thanks 🎉
glad you liked it.

thanks Doug , yes she got out of hand lol.
😎😎👍👍Edging! Cleaning & maintenance = necessary evil, but it's gotta be done!!
for sure Greg.
Lovely job all.
thanks Kevin.
I like the detail on maintenance and on the edger. You might talk about “shorts” and how they sell.
thanks Steve , good idea.

You definitely have to have a quick mechanical thinking mind to be a successful edger.
thank you Michael , it does take a bit of skill to run it.
It's been a few minuets since you last cleaned up by the feed side of the big blade.
Thanks!
thank you Dave!
I love the edging, Mark. I've mentioned it before, but it really needs to be repeated.
glad you liked it.
Very interesting!
I bet I know what your going to saw next! That cherry pile is slowly disappearing!

thanks John , that log was shorter so we put them aside.
YES ! 4 more months untill 12 hour sawin' videos EVERY DAY !
I sure hope so!
Is there a way to run a flexible duct from your existing dust collection system to your edger?
it's too far away.
How often do you have to sharpen the saw blades on this machine?
we haven't had to sharpen it yet.
roller and slab
Do you resharpen blades on the edger or just replace? How many hrs can you get out of the blades? I love this channel because it's so informative.
thank you Kenneth , yes they can be sharpened many times.
After those 10 there's 10 more.
true.
Did you guys get the package of honey I sent from SC
thank you Ted, I just picked it up from our online store and didn't get a chance to open it
