I still remember when I first finished Zero 4... I didn’t want to believe Zero was really gone... we went through so much from the past 4 games! Zero sacrificed himself to fulfill his mission, he fought til the very end, Zero is a true hero. That ending credit part was so sad, I’ll admit I cried alot and I’m a grown man. I wish it was a happy ending though!
I like to see it as what Zero wished... all his life he felt out of place, following orders and doing stuff he wasn't sure why he was doing it... Then at the start of the series he is again unsure of his position in this new world, where his friends are gone, when he has to face the same questions again, and they are harder this time... But he finds meaning in all of this, "I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero. I have always only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... if an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it!" I don't know if he was counscious all the time about his purpose, but he fully understand what he was doing at this point... and for his life to have meaning 'till the end, he must not betray his own will...
