- In this video, I make a modification to the front bumper support on the 1971 Corvette C3. I cut off the two lower flanges, moved them forward .6 inches, and re-welded them to the support.
This created enough rear word, movement to allow the chrome bumper to have the Ideal gap between the body
I've got a '72 vette, and the "Egg Crates" were standard then. So you most definitely have a replacement front "clip", or at least a LOT of work was done to replace the original vents! Keep up the good work. We all learn a lot from each other on these cars.
Cool. Thanks for the info. I think the PO may have “deleted” the OEM vents via body work, but I need more info. The inner vent area looks like it was built up with fiberglass strips, which I assume is not OEM.
The rad support needs to be loosened and tilled forward as the bottom is pushed back. Also the cross frame support also needs to be loosened and pushed back. It fit from the assembly line so it will fit after the front bolts on the frame as been loosened and retightened with everything attacked as a unit.
Looks great!
I think it looks great, good job
Thanks - See my new video on the bumper ends though. Fitment is way off!!
Nice work. What did you use for repainting
I mainly use VHT Rollbar and Chassis Satin or similar VHT. I like their products a lot and have had good results. No Rustolium! Spend a little $ and have good paint!
On my car the sides are mostly open except for the 3-5 inches at the back. It tapers into the fender.
