"...But Aurora never dreamed of becoming an artist. She had no idea that music could be a real job, something she could do for a living. She wanted to be a scientist and an astronaut. “Though that was only after I realised that I couldn’t be a Jedi,” Aurora laughs. She held onto the dream of science and astronomy until she was 16, when her management discovered her...."
In a post-performance interview at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert she revealed that she really likes bugs, even has a dead cockroach in her collection 😳😟. Search for the official Peace Prize full Aurora concert. the interview is the fourth “chapter”. Of course, her performances are amazing so watch the whole thing; about 15 minutes as I recall.
Auroras ability to set herself in other humans situation and even stronkly feel it, started in a really young age. At the age of 9 she made this song. I feel she is a born "Empath"❤
Tears of relief the day after because I got to see another sunrise . Do I feel lucky? ..Short answer yes but it came with the realization that not everyone who chooses to go had the opportunity to feel as lucky as I do .
Your comments beginning at 13:00 reminded me that Aurora's first album was titled "All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend," which I understood as liberating self through the integration of the shadow.
"It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember
I’ll be honest I never thought I needed to hear everything you said but oh my goodness it’s really helped with that first step to loving who I am and the life I live I really appreciate you for reacting to this and saying what’s you said💜💜💜😭😭
I tear up nearly every time i listen to it but never really got why exactly... Your thoughts about the song helped me to understand it's meaning much better, thank you very much. Great reaction!
At 52 years old Aurora looked into my soul and told my story. It wasn’t until this song I even mentioned it and I still can only do it in comments. Even my best friend of 25 years has no idea how close it was. I am much better. thanks to her and she never knew. I listen to this performance 3 or 4 times a week to celebrate. She told my story. She told your story. Everyone who connects to this song should know that someone does love you and your story is worth being told. Edit: Another favorite singer is Tessa Violet and I also connect to her song Tessa Violet - On My Own
Thanks for this reaction, Amanda! I knew it would touch you deeply. The truly amazing thing is that she wrote this song when she was 9 years old! From what I know about her, I believe she had a happy childhood - being allowed to be herself - -so I don't think this song comes from her own experiences. However, she is a highly empathic person and her sister, who is a few years older, is bipolar. My guess is that the song came out of her experience of her sister's struggles with mental health. There are a couple of interviews where Aurora speaks about this.
It was a really beautiful reaction. I watched it right after "the river", where I also liked your expressions and words. At that moment, I thought that this song is for you. But it is for all of us, of course. Aurora does that. She is a bit like a healer. Even if it's not enough. It helps. She helps. And I think you have seen that. You should continue to explore her world (her Queendom). I'm still discovering it myself and each new video (song, but also interview, or documentary) is a gem. (Some songs take me a little while to get used to :) )
Thanks for this. I've had my fair share of struggles as well, and AURORA has been a special point of light for the last couple years. I'll recommend AURORA - Through the Eyes of a Child (VEVO stripped) or (Nidarosdomen ) -- this same concert. Thank you.
You made the best choice, Aurora is certainly a healer and she speaks to people hearts and touches our souls we're lucky to be alive and to have Aurora sharing our lifetimes
Aurora is very attached to nature and we can interpret this song as if it were the earth that considers itself lucky to still be alive. She speaks of the hundreds of faces, of the places she has seen and been. She never explains her songs so you can see what you want.
I'm so glad you reacted to this song. It makes me cry every time I listen to it. It is heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time. This is one of the most magical performances I have every seen from any performer. Aurora is a soul healer.
When in a deep depression, for the first time, you have no idea how bad you are until you start to recover. Aurora is always best live, every performance different, every song different. She is wonderfully different.
@celinel9750 writes from another reaction to this song... "This is her anti-suic!de song, "befor I make the offering" as I give up, I remember all the ppl 've seen and place that I've been... IFEEL the light" that is for me me the most powerfulI line, not only seeing the light but feeling the light, from inside, the spark that make you choose to stay."
I dont know myself without trauma and depression, but i hope one day i can meet that person and learn to love them. Thanks for the reaction, AURORA is amazing, her art has been helping me alot recently.
Before 2019, I couldn't remember what it felt like to not feel broken, overwhelmed and miserable. I promise you're under there beneath all the symptoms and pain. I can't wait to meet that part of you, but until then, I love the part you are right now too 😊
You won’t be meeting the person who never had the trauma, you’ll meet the person who got through it and became stronger and more compassionate. And you will BE that person.
Well done brave girl to share such an experience with many. You are a beautiful soul that can be an inspiration for many. Continue enjoying life & moving forward Amanda Webster. Appreciated your honest commentary was moving.
Thank you so much for reacting to this video! Aurora is a Goddess and still has so many years ahead of her. I'm excited to see where her career goes from here.
I loved what you said about the importance of reaching out for professional support. There is such a horrible stigma around seeing a “shrink”, as if the mere thought of seeing a counselor implies that you are broken. I’ve seen a few counselors and not only was I grateful for every visit, I improved and found inner strength after every visit. I wish seeing a counselor was viewed as normal self care. As far as Aurora goes, I love her. She has something so ethereal about her. Thank you, Amanda, for sharing this!
Hello Amanda, thank you for this fine reaction. I can imagine that AURORA can help you with your goals. AURORA once said: People tend to believe quite quickly that something is wrong with them if they're not like the people they see in front of them It's so sad that it doesn't take much for us to really doubt ourselves. Her sad songs always have a glimmer of hope. Maybe not always in the lyrics, but then in the music, which gives rise to a pleasant feeling, especially with the sad lyrics, or a more combative "now more than ever". Maybe it's just her wonderful voice. AURORA (Aurora Aksnes) was born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is a singer, songwriter and producer. AURORA's songs always have a strong message. Often the messages are not very clear either. They can be interpreted so that many people can relate them to themselves. Her movements while singing are extraordinary. She is often so into the song that she shakes her body or head uncontrollably (--> Murder song, It happened quiet) and need 2-3 seconds to come back. She is capable of transporting feelings because she allows a look into her soul. Her fans call themselves warriors and weirdos. - Through The Eyes Of a Child (Live at Nidarosdomen) - ua-cam.com/video/ncG9zTzsisE/v-deo.html - she sang in norway's biggest cathedral - phenomenal acoustics - angelic voice - Murder song (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert - ua-cam.com/video/vh0SWTVwXxw/v-deo.html - is it brave to sing a murder song at a Nobel Peace Prize Concert? - It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current) - ua-cam.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/v-deo.html - it's about the rape of a woman - some say - these great harmonies - The Seed (Official Video - VEVO) - ua-cam.com/video/_Mc_OM5oNA8/v-deo.html - it's about the climat change - Exist For Love (Official Video - VEVO) - ua-cam.com/video/7YDkrJaiCrw/v-deo.html - best love song ever!!! 💘😍😍 - Cure For Me (Official Video - VEVO) - ua-cam.com/video/K17df81RL9Y/v-deo.html - if you want to dance - Queendom (Official Video) - ua-cam.com/video/wULeXeQkqd0/v-deo.html - about her queendom?? 😄 - Warrior (Live on the Honda Stage) - ua-cam.com/video/I3dvC4tDI3s/v-deo.html - it is for her warrios 🥰❤ - Heathens (Live Performance) - ua-cam.com/video/utKR7tAm0hg/v-deo.html - from her newest album I usually prefer her live performances. But in these cases the VEVO video is more impressive. I hope you enjoy AURORA. Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany
Aurora's Anti-Suicid-Song Written at just 9 years old. If you're about to take your life, remember the people you've met in life that you're leaving behind. Remember that there were also good times. Those times have passed. And just as the good times have passed, so will the bad ones passed. Nothing is eternal. You just have to persevere, take one step at a time and sometimes it's a success to just get through the day. But at some point it will go up, then it will seem to you as if you see the light at the end of the tunnel. The first time in a long time and then you will be lucky that you are alive. The last sentence sounds/looks so devastating because the path has not yet been complete (Aurora looks into the void). The person is still on the road to recovery. And not everyone recognizes this, because you don't walk around beaming with joy but you can still feel good.
Aurora's song "The River" is actually about suicide. Well, male suicide... But still kinda relevant I feel. She brings up that so many men commit suicide because they are too afraid to talk about the inner hurt and feelings, that they can't openly cry to unleash their inner hurt, and they just resort to the quick way out.... This is more common than not with male suicide. And yet no one really talks about it... So she wanted to make a song to spread awareness.
Thank you for a great reaction. I adore how you connect with the themes in the song. I struggle with my mental health and Aurora has helped me enormously. I suggest you react to Aurora's Winter Bird, the music video is amazing, and it is interesting to know that she did not have a chorography for the mv, it it just how she embodies the energy of music. If not the mv, then go for the Nidarosodmen performance of Winter bird. I also strongly suggest you react to Al Is Soft Inside live at KEXP, there are two versions, go for island if you want the etherial high note go for KEPX studio and if you want wild abandon go for KEXP Island.
This reaction was quite a treat! I love that you could grasp the message of this song and how closely it followed your own message of dealing with mental health. Thank you so much!
Aurora said that this song is about growing through the rough tunnels/turns in life growing up. I'm sure when you react to infections of the different kind at HAIK concert, you'll just feel relatable to it!
12:55 "All my demons greeting me as a friend" is the title of Auroras Debut Album (Lucky is on that record). She originally had a song called "All my demons" written in that era but it didnt made it onto the final cut. But I love that song too, you should listen to it (on youtube). I know many others have written this already but I want too say it too: Go in that Aurora world (the Queendom!), it is absolutely phenomenal here I swear ♡🤍
I am so impressed by your ability to speak to this kind of themes. So gentle and still not blasse. I believe you and trust you. As with Auroras music, your words go straight to my genuine self, not triggering any filters. I will be listening to you again for my own mental growth. Like Aurora has said; "I love my chelf" Cu 🙏
I've heard this song many times but have never seen it through your perspective, which has brought new meaning to 'time to let go ...' Your facial expression on hearing those words was priceless! ... 😊 R (Australia)
Thank you for another great reaction :) Since you have such great insight into mental health and an ability to connect emotionally to a song - I really hope you’ll take a look at another song by Aurora, “It Happened Quiet” (live at The Current) :) Its a stripped back version, with just Aurora and a guitarist, who also provides some backup vocals - which makes it even more intimate and emotional (for me at least). Crossing my fingers
I wear my scars in the form of tattoos. They are reminders to me of victories, and losses to be remembered. However, these tattoos, this ink under my skin, while seen by many is only fully understood by few. My ink is for me, and reminds me of how lucky I am.
She is as vulnerable as finely spun glass and as strong as high carbon steel. Her art rips you apart and heals you at the same time. Who does that? Her art is almost too intense to bear, but you can't look away. She is a siren in the form of a wood nymph. Resistance is futile!
12:57 you just put the finger of the topic of her fist album, literally It's named " all my demons greeting me as a friend" all that album It's about accept all the bad and ugly and find the lessons that it left to you and grow from there, the step 1 and step 2 of the next "chapter " is a must hear as well I would recommend you to take the journey of listen the albums in order, it's honestly a spiritual journey
i am nearly 68 years old now... i've been sober and clean 16 years. I understand the battles you hacve to wage, just to get back...it was insanity. Now, another battle is on, and it's hard to see away out. I have Parkinsos Dementia....progressive...slowly losing....How to keep good thoughts on top...I" guess there is no altrnative but to be miserable ..I can't do that....sorry it's hard to explain....Alot of roads I can't let myself go to far down.
I am so proud of you for overcoming your demons so far and I know that you will find a way to manage this challenge. Just remember, you don't HAVE to like it or be happy with the news. You only have to look for reasons to be happy in general. There are actually a few natural treatments that a friend of mine utilized for dementia that really helped slow the progression. Would you like me to ask her for more info?
Tbh I have a difficult time listening to Aurora’s plaintive ballads. It’s as though she has direct access to my heart, my soul and I’m defenseless. I suppose I should learn to toughen up but I let go of being a tough guy a ways back. “Once you get used to something you accept it.” You’ve got that right. I’ve had more suicide attempts than I can count. None for six years now though 👍🏻
I think she wrote this after she fell out of tree or something when she was super young. But it's crazy what meaning this song can have for for everyone. I've always felt it was about dying. Having the marks on your skin, from all the places, making the offering, being lucky for being (or having been) alive. Anyways, it's a freaking beautiful.
i think you would love Sigrid (she is a good friend of Auroras and they broke into the music scene at the same time - very different styles tho)... her song Dynamite (acoustic version) and Bad Life (with Bring me the Horizon) would be such amazing reactions. Both lyrically smack you in the feels
Nidarosdomen is one of the oldest and biggest Churches in Norway, and it is located in Trondheim as a tiny extra info. Like i said before,Aurora expressed that she has a good childhood where she thanked her parents for embracing her for who she was. Now,she did have something about her....really sharp on tests, she scored high on any test they gave her at school. But she was attempted turned into a victim of bullying, but when the kids in her class started calling her strange and such, she decided to confront them right away, and they didnt have much more to bring to the table. I think she choked that attempt from escalating..... But also like she said in the same interview, she had several imaginary friends as a kid. That was where she thrived,so when her parents would put on plates etc for her imaginary friends,it meant alot to her. She described it as "they let me be me,and it felt safe and good". Is there something "out of the ordinay" with Aurora? Oh clearly,a pure talent like few others. And yes, there is something unexplainable with her "behaviour",but like her parents most likely thought: "Does it really matter what it is,as long as shes not hurting,it doesnt limit her in any way". I feel like more people should think like that, everything doesnt need a diagnosis or whatever. If it doesnt bother you or limit your ability to speak, write, think etc, then there is no need to "heal it". If there are stories about her we havent heard of yet? Oh im sure, everyone needs secrets. But i feel like shes genuinly open about stuff,so if something really bothered her,she would tell us. But her ability to tell a story,to deliever others pain, thought process etc has brought endless amount of people to tears. Thats why we call her an Angel on this earth. Shes adorable and precious, pure and simple. 🥰
Aurora's music video's are great but watching her live in concert is far more impactful for a first impression. She is quite the unique person that was seriously needed in this world. It actually took me awhile to realize that because I wasn't a fan at first. Now I can't imagine why I wasn't.
Must recommend Gojira, particularly Art of Dying, lyrics (it is ultimately affirming; most of their music is like Dante, in that way; a dark chrysalis or purgation, or exercise then goal) Sorry about the miscarriage.
Most of the lyrics places have it wrong. It's "Now all the moths have settled on my skin." It's not marks. Aurora loves moths. She's is made up to be a moth on the album cover. If you listen carefully, it's obvious she's saying moths. And it gives the line another meaning. It's like a softness which amplifies the softness of the verse.
Hi Amanda. This is a very important and inspiring message you bring. What a wonderful opportunity to receive such a life lesson combined with Aurora's powerful performance ♥️
There is something almost weirdly childlike and absurd about it. When a child goes into the woods they aren't worried about the ramifications and what is in there - in a lot of cases they don't even know what those are. The important thing is that they do it. Risks be damned, they're going to conquer something. Any stigma that comes comes later. It isn't until adulthood that they're expected to work their bones into the ground, to pay for things that had always been free, and perhaps start a family - and if they don't do those 3 things they become the bad guy in society's larger narrative. You get labeled as unproductive, lazy, good for nothing, and all of those other things we're conditioned to think of as pejoratives but are actually compliments. Unless you succeed of course - we praise people that never grow up if they get rich in the process. I think for most people they actually start off at their most liberated and then just stumble backwards until they retire and are too old to fully enjoy what bit they have left anyway. Reconnecting with that bright adventurous part of yourself is difficult but important. You're only young once but you can be immature forever.
Would really like to see your reaction to the song "In Deepest Black" by Evil Invaders. Released just a couple of weeks ago and really kind of sums up how I feel at the moment.
@@MentalAmanda nice txs Amanda, so, it seems you've already reacted to Aurora cool basically these are the only reactions I watch, or may some other ppreferred artist but definitely, not maistream, yess the Viking Fairy Queen is one of the kind, I started my music training with classical piano age 4, basiclly a rocknroll person, Aurora is different , very hi quality stuff for sure Ok gracias te pasaste chau
@@panchiolarranaga1616 I prefer non mainstream stuff the majority of the time too. Except when I need to feel nostalgic and reach back to 90's pop. Haha.
@@MentalAmanda I get what you are saying particularlly from a copyright point of view. I have seen song reactions stop suddenly because a band or record company or whoever doesnt want it played. It can be such a minefield. Independant artists however at least the ones I know of like Tom MacDonald you have done a few times actually always looks foreward to watching reactions the day he drops a video which is always friday 9am California time. Dax is another who welcomes reactions to his songs and has joined Stevie Knight reacting to a song of his.

Just beautiful 💞💞 Aurora is otherworldy
What a nice reaction 🥰
To think that she was just 9 years old when she wrote this song is quite heartbreaking ❤️
God doesn't always take the pain and Memories away. He makes you Stronger than the problem.
Thank you. God bless.
I’m Lucky to have you around!
Last week I got good news, after 13 years of hell I am now medical free. That included a Brain Aneurysm. So yea, I´m Lucky to be alive.
I'm so happy for you! Can't wait to hear about your adventures!
Thank you for another great reaction :)
Since you have such great insight into mental health and an ability to connect emotionally to a song - I really hope you’ll take a look at another song by Aurora, “It Happened Quiet” (live at The Current) :)
Its a stripped back version, with just Aurora and a guitarist, who also provides some backup vocals - which makes it even more intimate and emotional (for me at least).
Crossing my fingers
Love Aurora ❤
I wear my scars in the form of tattoos. They are reminders to me of victories, and losses to be remembered. However, these tattoos, this ink under my skin, while seen by many is only fully understood by few. My ink is for me, and reminds me of how lucky I am.
Mesmerizing ❤ Aurora is beautiful, inside and out ❤
You might also like "Awakening" by Aurora. It was one of her earliest releases, and it's a fairly similar topic to this song.
She is as vulnerable as finely spun glass and as strong as high carbon steel. Her art rips you apart and heals you at the same time. Who does that? Her art is almost too intense to bear, but you can't look away. She is a siren in the form of a wood nymph. Resistance is futile!
12:57 you just put the finger of the topic of her fist album, literally It's named " all my demons greeting me as a friend" all that album It's about accept all the bad and ugly and find the lessons that it left to you and grow from there,
the step 1 and step 2 of the next "chapter " is a must hear as well
I would recommend you to take the journey of listen the albums in order, it's honestly a spiritual journey
Aurora wrote parts of this song when she was 9 🤯
i am nearly 68 years old now... i've been sober and clean 16 years. I understand the battles you hacve to wage, just to get back...it was insanity.
Now, another battle is on, and it's hard to see away out. I have Parkinsos Dementia....progressive...slowly losing....How to keep good thoughts on top...I" guess there is no altrnative
but to be miserable ..I can't do that....sorry it's hard to explain....Alot of roads I can't let myself go to far down.
Anyways, it's a freaking beautiful.
react AURORA Churchyard live at the current 2020
i think you would love Sigrid (she is a good friend of Auroras and they broke into the music scene at the same time - very different styles tho)... her song Dynamite (acoustic version) and Bad Life (with Bring me the Horizon) would be such amazing reactions. Both lyrically smack you in the feels
I know this won't be popular but! " If endurable the endure it. Stop complaining. " Marcus Aurelius
Must recommend Gojira, particularly Art of Dying, lyrics (it is ultimately affirming; most of their music is like Dante, in that way; a dark chrysalis or purgation, or exercise then goal)
Sorry about the miscarriage.
Yes, but what did you think of the music? Lyrics, melody, the performance?
Daydreamer by her is another one I think you would appreciate it.
What a wonderful opportunity to receive such a life lesson combined with Aurora's powerful performance ♥️
please react to "world coming down" by Type O Negative
RIP Pete Steele
In Praise Of Bachuus for sure! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 Hail Lord Petrus!!!
💯💯
You go, girl. You are unstoppable.
Amazing reaction!
You should check out a song called Fade Away.
Love you. Love you. Love you. Thanks for this.
Would really like to see your reaction to the song "In Deepest Black" by Evil Invaders. Released just a couple of weeks ago and really kind of sums up how I feel at the moment.
Glad you got around to this one. I knew it would mean something to you.
You are so wonderful ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Great reaction, you need to react to Citizen Soldier - Irreplaceable
Check The River by Aurora

Here ya go!

Dax is another who welcomes reactions to his songs and has joined Stevie Knight reacting to a song of his.
great reaction stay safe x
I've never heard of her.
I feel it’s about an abusive relationship.

discount therapy..... fuck that shit, tried it. get some real therapy... that helps.
Not everyone can afford it and it isn't effective for everyone. Give people options and let them choose their path to healing 💖
Honestly I find the singer shrill and anxiety inducing. A complete contrast to you Amanda.
You are absolutely free to have your opinion! Hopefully you'll like the next artist more!
🇬🇧 Norfolk great as always 💕 it happened quite by her has a deep meaning and through the eyes of a child
