This was the best non action episode, and Akerson is actively trying to get rid of the Spartan IIs its his revenge on Halsey. His plan is the Spartan III program

I feel like they could have collapsed episode 2 and 3 in to one episode. I feel like there was a lot of repetition of just "what happened to cobalt?" and "They don't trust my judgement!". The Rubble stuff could have easily been cut down too.
But otherwise a solid episode, building up for the open invasion. I just thought ep 2 was already doing that.

Even though this was a slow episode, upon reflection, there were some really great scenes in this episode, the more time I spend thinking about the episode, the better it gets. Now that's good writing, when you watch something, it makes you think, and gets better as you think about it.

Of course, spartans are pretty strong without a suit! I remembered how John accidentally killing a grown men with his bares hands and he was only kid, so you can imagine how strong he is when he was an adult. So glad that you have knowledge of Halo lore

Chief in that boxing ring also killed 2 of the 4 odsts crippled 1 by breaking his pelvis he never walked again, and severely injured the last one. It was all staged ONI sent 4 odst to there doom just to test Johns augmentations. Even crazier he was only 14

Ackerson hates Halsey (for killing his sister) and subsequently he hates the Spartan IIs. He's making Spartan III and he sent Cobalt team to die and he's going to pin fall of reach on Spartan IIs so the UNSC will support his Spartan III program. John-117 being the face of Spartan II, Ackerson needs him to fail and that's why he's lying and manipulating him all this time.
The scene between Ackerson and his father is to show us that Ackerson is truly a cold hearted son of bitch and he's willing to sacrifice everyone, including his own father to achieve his goals.
I mean one of the later episodes is called Onyx. But I don't know if this can be pinned on them so much as he just expects them to die

@@Omn1Media The sister thing is unique to the show. In the books and comics he just wants to get Halsey out of the way for his own program. He did have a younger brother in the Halo Uprising comics though
@@Omn1Media I think what ONI and fleetcom are doing is a version Operation Red Flag which called for Reach to be used as bait and sacrificed to lore the covi fleet in take one of there ships and use it to assault there home base and kidnap the High Profits to call for a end to the war. Only in this time line there lead by Kai and they are Spartan III

Ngl I actually like that they went into ONI hiding the invasion of Reach. In Canon it's sort of a side note due to clashing dates which ended up being explained as ONI keeping the invasion from the other branches in order to get a covenant ship full of Spartans to invade the covenant capital with.
I really liked this episode, I hope people can appreciate it and not just want Master Cheif killing people.

It's delaying tactic reach is the main production of ships to the unsc. On top of that with plenty of spartans in this universe and marine and defenses. Before the attack on earth let them waste a large amount of resources. From tactical point it make since. But is it a ethical choice nope

This chapter is so good!
With the interview with the show runners, it's basically confirmed that the fall of reach will take place across the entire episode 4, episode 5 is the aftermath of the fall of reach, and in the last episode they get to the halo ring. There are two big action episodes, they are 4 and 8.
In the lore Ackerson was interested in the spartan 2s solely to learn how they worked so he could potentially improve upon them with his Spartan 3's. The down side to his plan was his attempt to cut costs. While he was able to produce more S3's faster, they were inferior to the S2's both physically and technologically. Early S3's didn't even have shielded mjolnir armor, and while they were effective in combat, hundreds were lost during operations.
If you really go into lore you’ll know that in actuality SIII’s had on par strength and durability to SII’s but they were cheap and expendable so had underpowered armor as well as they were mostly not even adults or they were at the oldest 23 by the time they died. Its also why they were thought to be shorter than SII’s though that was only because most of them died before fully growing and any SIII’s currently alive are just as big as their SII ‘elders’. The other thing is they may have had slightly worse training time dues to being a few years older on average when conscripted into the UNSC.
He sacrificed cobalt team bc he is banking on the spartan 3 program being the next step. He kinda mentioned it in his conversation with Halsey
I’m also thinking Sauron arc is going to help Halsey escape and turn into the ghosts of onyx type of arc
Ring will be last episode of the season. Hence why Cortana and chief are split got to lead up to them being reconnected on the escape
This Ackerson, for me, is better than the original Ackerson. In this show they really do a great job in writing him
My money the plan is to sacrifice Reach to save resources for the Defense of Earth
This is exactly what they’re setting up. Along with attempting to make Reach a phyrric victory for the Covenant.
It’s been sprinkled throughout the first three episodes. Ackerson KNOWS Reach will fall no matter what they do. He has the most advanced AI ever created by humanity running simulations that all end in Reach destroyed.
An attempted evacuation would tip their hand and would have caused the attack to begin earlier than they wanted.
Ackerson is an antagonist, but he’s been pretty well set up as tragic antagonist.

In this universe, while cold and calculating, he also seems to genuinely care about humanity and even people in his orbit to a degree
he actually wants to get rid of almost all the spartan II(especially john). Like he said to halsey, they're broken. But they will be the stepping stone to something greater(the spartan III). He wants the unsc to think of the spartan II as a failed project to have his spartan III idea approved. And what better way to do that than to have its poster child the master chief seen as defective. Ackerson does not like the chief and considers him a hinderance. he even tried to have him assassinated in the books.
The final 5 minutes was great, really built up the Horror of a Religious zealot invasion of reach. Unfortunately just when I thought the "Halo reach" action would begin at the start chief was immediately detained and put in time out for the fifth time in the series lmao

Not everyone is a fan of the Spartan program and at this point chief wasnt legendary yet so most of the higher ups may have been very skeptical about the effectiveness of the Spartans against covenant fleet.

If you think Halo didn't get good till 343 got involved, then you'll love this Halo.
I haven’t really seen anyone talk about it but that Elite talking at the end is definitely Thel Vadum (aka the Arbiter).
So we know their name, they are not Thel, instead they are meant to be the Arbirter before him. Instead being a blade master and probably being taken out before reaching the ring.
This way opening the plot of the new arbirter.
Because Master Chief can make a difference so they keep him sidelined Ackerson thinking this maybe
Im pretty sure when Visegrad goes down is when Noble team is deployed in the first cutscene.
Ackerson's angle is he is supremely confident in his Spartan III's and is willing to sacrifice the Spartan II's, simply because they are the creation of Halsey and the fact that his sister was killed during the trials of the program.
Only his S3's were vastly inferior in the end. Far better then standard troops yes but S2's were and still are the best Spartans ever produced. Ackerson relied on cost cutting and mass production tatics hopeing sheer volume over quality would help turn the tide.

Although according to lore Spartan 3 is not as good as Spartan 2.
But in lore Spartan 3 is actually quite an excellent way to make high performance soldiers, which has to do with surgery and economics.
Spartan 3 is an amazing advancement in that it uses four chemicals (not counting the three berserker drugs in the follow-up program) to administer to hormone-enhanced children without the need for physical surgery.
In fact, if the UNSC and the Oni decide to do so, the entire UNSC territory could become a Space Marine species within a few generations.

to see if the Spartans 2's were up to the task conditions and standards so to speak for the mission just my perception
I dont like it but I think there was no intent originally to gas light him so much. I think what was going on was that the new guy just needed to have a valid reason to keep Silver Team grounded and he couldn't just tell Silver Team the plan because we all know Silver Team would be right there with Keys choosing to fight.
What I think pushed the issue is that John has been too strong headed to take a short break and accept being grounded. Which is what spiraled the situation out of control.
My hope is that he and Silver will be informed of this and he will get reprimanded for disobeying the chain of command and stuff, but post this event and the fall of Reach, Silver Tean will be the front line team leading the fight.
Again, not happy with the approach but that angel makes sense to me why new boss dude has been trying to keep the team in a corner.
I also think that the plan was not to just give up Reach, but to try and pull whatever military assets they could off the planet before things blew up and stage the best response they could with the least losses. I think in this case its one of those "f-ed if we do f-ed if we don't situations" and I for one agree with the strat of "leave to fight another day". The part that kills everyone and I think he showed this well is that he has to digest the fact he is committing millions of people to the slaughter knowing he can't do anything to stop or prevent it and I think the goal with Kortana was to try and find a way to get more people and assets out before the dooms day clock was up. Which she confirmed was basically impossible and my guess is that if ONI tried to do the "right thing" then they would only provoke the Covonint into an early assault that ultimately would not change the situation.
So, the best plan they had was to keep the whole evac on the down low, extract who and what they could without provoking the Cov into an early assault, and maybe stage a relief effort like what we see in the game with Chief and team going about Reach to extract and secure evac of survivors. Im praying this season does not go to the ring and that what we get to see is the UNSC launch a counter offensive and a rally call to avenge Reach and use Reach as a marter to drive war support with the Cov.
If it all goes well I think season three will be following along Combat Evolved and the introduction of the Flood. That game could easily fit a whole season or two and I hope its a two season arc before we move on.
One thing I will say is that I do like seeing that there are more Spartans other than Silver Team. One of my personal gripes with S1 is that it felt like Silver Team wad the only team.

Because Chief is too uncontrollable for them to keep, and they underestimate the value of the Chief or John, believed that Master Chief is just "a man with the suit" and nothing else. They can put anyone in that suit and make them Master Chief. That's why they keep John out.
Just wait,( episode 2) call out. Master Chief links up with Cortana (that was not one of the A Is simulation because she is isolated from 117) I'm in wait and see mode. Liking it so far.
As someone who hated season 1, season 2 is way better and this episode was the best one yet. I'm actually looking forward to the next episode which is something I didn't ever feel for season 1.

I'm fairly confident this is getting a S3
I'm so conflicted. on the one hand the show has the world right, the structures and cultures of oni and unsc; exactly right. But the people... they butchered the individuals so badly. Chief absolutely goes awol, because he is right, none of this bs macho gym bro spartan in fighting. the chief says something, you do it. because the chief would never leave you behind. Halsey absolutely is a monster, but she still cares for her victims. she will always soften for the victims of her ambitions. The chief and her should always have a messed up relationship. And the chief shouldn't realize that yet. Halsey is the milf that feeds, and gives him all that he needs.
MasterChef isn't a toy for the masses, there ain't time, He is the emerging legend that shocked everyone, when the day before it was unsc vs insurrectionists, and today Reach is getting glassed. there are stories of a Giant soldier, a machine?, swooping in with other Spartans. they seem to enter chaos and are the only time the aliens run in fear.
Cortana and the suit are with him at all times, he doesnt suit up when authorized. He is in continuous triage mode from reach until Halo 4 end. Half his trauma is the lack of time to process any of it. and what is with her look. She has none of the personality that made her unique.
This whole madrigal/kwan storyline is such a pointless grungy distraction from the events of reach and halo 1. its slice of life meant to pointlessly drag out a days worth of crazy events into 3 seasons worth of fetch quests. its Halo 2 library all over again.
Have this seasons b plot be the fall of reach, odst, or even follow Lasky. Position the pieces into place so chief is heading to the pillar of autumn, Cortana is getting updates from Halsey on the ground of reach, have the odst's bridge those stories.
Most of this episode honestly felt like such a pointless filler episode. Really wish they'd cut more of the filler.
Probably saving the budget for the next one
If they don't try to develop the characters, none of the future action scenes are worthwhile.

in other words. Not enough pew pew on the screen. This man has never heard of character development, world building, tension building, or story development. all these things lead to making the next episode that much more impactful. but you don't see any action in an episode and simply think it's filler. go back to playing the video games. you're clearly too young to understand any of this.

Man, those gay displays of affection better have some relevance, because that just looked like blatant pandering. No other straight couple had their affections so blatantly displayed for seemingly no reason.

It's clear that every episode has a different writer and they must not communicate with each other.
I don't get the people who like this show. Not only is it a disgrace to halo but the writing just as a show is so bad. Besides examples of naming cities after the planets like Madrigal city and REACH city ( because it's not like we don't already have a list of cities to use from the books and games like New Alexandria ) but they waste your time with Halsey trying to figure out what the clone is for and who is behind it. The clone is Julia, who was in the spartan program and is sister to Ackerson. Halsey knows everyone who was in the spartan program cause she was like their mother. Also doesn't make sense how Ackerson knew she was in the spartan program when they are all suppose to be kidnapped and given a clone. So Ackerson knew his sister was in it i guess. Problem is Dr. Halsey should have known everything the second that clone walked in on episode 2. They wasted the viewers time with mystery and then next episode there is no mystery. Also we knew the covenant were on REACH last episode so this is no cliff hanger. Its just doing the same thing they did at the end of last episode. And ofcorse they didn't show Cobalt team. I fucking knew they didn't have the budget to show anything from Cobalts POV. hopefully they show it in the future somehow with a weird flashback. I don't know I try to forget my Halo knowledge watching this show but they continue to stampede on my intelligence.
From the international community: Yall dont know anything about Halo, make everyone a favor and get lost, either way people who are well versed in the lore are enjoying this so far.

@@GLCDragons Here its ours: We enjoy the show because we know halo, we arenot a brat that its too comfortable because they havent had to earn anything.
We are the reason S2 came to be thanks to the statistics and I can assure you we will continue watching it. If you dislike it keep commenting, better for the algorythm and make people watch it, the more you push against it, the more you can expect everyone else will watch it.

This whole episode was just a complete waste of time. I can't think of a single interesting or memorable thing that happened in it; like i say, such a waste.

That's honestly a shame. I played the games and I still love the show. Yes it is quite different in some respects, but not enough to make me dislike it. We'd better hope that the Covenant NEVER find Halo. If it's true to the games AT ALL... well there's a reason why the scene where Cortana (who has the same actress in both the game and the show) reveals the truth about Halo's true purpose remains one of the best and most shocking scenes of the series.😱😱😱
My favorite dialogue in the games:
Master Chief: "Did anyone else make it???"
Cortana: "Scanning. Just... dust and echoes. We're all that's left. You did what you had to do. For Earth! An entire Covenant armada obliterated! And the Flood! You had no choice. Halo, it's finished."
Master Chief: "No, I think we're just getting started."
I'm right there with you. Loving the new season and I'm itching to play some Halo again but have no means to lol
