thanks for the video and photos, I have gone to Haigh since I was a child and to see it now! it's only a shadow of it's former self, but still a beautiful place to visit.
I remember when I was a kid, Haigh Hall was magnificent, it had a zoo , model village, a beautiful glass summer house, swimming /paddling pool and peacocks strutting around the place and free parking, nearly forgot the magnificent tractor !. Now it costs a fortune to park and is so run down, why ??
I think Haigh Hall has dramatically lost its appeal over the years; they used to have a nice railway running around & the long gone Haigh Hall Zoo & the Tractor Trailer which took you from the Plantation Gates to the Hall. T (bet Health & Safety would get in the way of that today) These days the place is just for people walking their dogs, walkers, & used for weddings. People have lost interest, people are too interested in shopping rather than having a nice day out.
the place has just been left to rote and what money has been spent has been wasted on art progets there should be some mager invest meant but under the torys and wigan council it will not happen
I was born and bred in Aspull so Haigh Hall was my back garden,i adore the place and still visit on a regular basis
Some very nice photos.I must try and visit some of these places that you've featured.
