Thank you so much for this information.
Thank you very much for your friendly and useful videos. Appreciate this bit of calm sanity during Covid19.
You are so welcome!
Wow, what a nice intelligent lady. I like her. Thanks for the dog ears video
I'm so happy that I've found you and your channel here.
I've been enchanted with books since I was very little.
I recently rewarded myself by purchasing some old books; amoungst these are an 1851 pocket Holy Bible bound in leather that is very dry, and deteriorating.
I asked a professional book conservator on Facebook if she would perhaps share a tip or two as to how I might get started with preserving them as a beginner.
After several days, she responded on the Messenger thing - oh, my - she pretty much freaked on me. How dare I ask a "Professional" for "Free" advice, and so on. It upset me, and I apologized.
Anyhow - my old books need some love & attention, and I want to help them myself. And, I love to learn these new things. Book conservation has long fascinated me.
So glad I've landed here, thanks very much.
You seem pretty friendly and I'm not overly concerned that you might give me the devil for asking a question or two...
Thanks for the very helpful videos :)
That makes my day! :)
I came upon an Atlas & Farmers Directory of a County in MN where my son-in-law resides going back generations. I cannot find an email for you or how to order any kits you mentioned.

I have changed the kits so there is only one. One kit to rule them all as it were.
If you have not done a how to remove a remainder mark that was done in marker I'd like to know if there is any way to. I have a hardcover with a remainder mark and luckily it isn't a slash but a dot and it's bugging me a bit. I also want to thank you for sharing your knowledge. I love to read and take care of my books but I have a few that well I was young and didn't really take care of them and I might try and restore them a bit in the future.
Thank you for the kind words. Remainder marks can be tricky. I need to do one for sharpie marks that are deeper than the ink stamps. The main thing is to scrape the mark away with a knife like the book repair knife that I sell on my website. You could sharpen a microspatula maybe to get the same rounded tip. Rubbing a mark with sandpaper before scraping it off will smear the mark. I will try to get to this video soon. I am re-launching my website soon so it will be easy to find every lesson more easily.
Very nice. Thanks so much.
I am from Morocco, thanks so much.
I've seen you use fine-point pens to restore lettering on the front boards of books. What do you recommend for this?
Micron Pigma Pens. Largest is 08. 05 for really tiny lines.
Hello, Would you have a tip to fix some wavy pages and inflated text block due to a humidity variation in my room? Thank you !
Slowly increasing weight while pressing the book but only after it is completely dry. This could take weeks. Patience!
@@SaveYourBooks thank you so much. You mean starting with a low weight and put more and more on the top of the book?
@@quigonjinn2222 Yes, making sure the book is in proper alignment and not skewed. You could also try ironing individual pages through baking parchment but test first!
