    Every moment in his life after he received that MoH, he couldn't not turn around without looking back at those two fellow marine who was assigned to protect him back then and was killed and he vow that medal he wore is for them, their sacrifice. Wherever you are Sir, hope you will be against with your fellow marine in heaven.

      Which is why I get angry when people do say why are we fighting for other countries. It is to stop tyranny like our ancestors did.

      @triandfit1 9 місяців тому

      Only 1% of the population serves in the military. Even in the world wars, Korea, and Vietnam, the vast majority of people in our country did not serve. Today we have young people doing the very same things as back then. Stop trying to do the “back in my day” thing. I’ve met so many Gen Z, millennials, etc who serve with honor and distinction. Maybe read the Medal of Honor citations that have been written over the last decade or two and learn about the great young people who continue to protect our country.

      @@ethanweeter2732 Nope I only know of him getting it . When David McNerney ( a Nam MOH ) died in 2010 he wasn't even given a State funeral . He had a regular funeral followed by an escort of Patriot Guard to the VA cemetery in Houston, TX . Unless they are really well known or connected they might get a State funeral . One of the largest in Texas was for Chris Kyle held in the Cowboy Stadium in Arlington but it also was a private ceremony not a State funeral .

MoH recipients did and do things above and beyond the call of duty. Many didn't have to do a thing but when the situation came, they thought about others.
