    I finally got out for my 1st round of the year! After only practicing with 3 large and 1 small bucket over the last couple of weeks after watching video after video of Paul's instructions, this is where I am at: I took Paul's advice to change my mindset with every shot, I was saying '50%..stay loose' I even asked my buddy who I have golfed numerous rounds with in the past, I asked if my swing tempo looks better and more relaxed and he said absolutely, I wasn't as stiff and had way more rotation then I ever had before. I did find that near the end of the round when my body started to get a little 'stiff' from always thinking about rotation, it lead to some thinner shots as breaking 20 years of bad swing habits won't all be sorted in 1 round, BUT with say 10 of my really poor mishits this round were still only 30-40 yards shorter than an actual shot, I did not have a single 'chunk' or 20 yard 'top'....Those would happen every round, more than once....not this round! I ended up shooting a 93 (I am about a 24-26 Handicap) and that was with 1 triple bogey and 2 3 putts. I finally FINALLY have swing fundamentals down thanks to Paul, there are still times I might be swaying a bit on my back foot, (I found my swing thoughts were to try and stay behind the ball more than anything -- which caused a couple of thin driver shots, again, had I actually swung a little easier I would have been fine...once my arms started to pull toward the ball a bit, the shot definitely was not as good as with the bodyswing). I just need to work on my 2nd cut off-the-green chipping (duffed a couple of those!) and my putting! Brand new putter with different weight has me off a bit. Sorry for the ramble, I am just ecstatic at how I was striking the ball yesterday. I have NEVER hit my long irons well and the easy approach of the bodyswing had me absolutely piping my 5 iron over 200 yards!

    Thanks Paul! I started telling myself to hit at 50 per cent in the range and I hit my long clubs more relaxed and almost at the same distance using my old method. It is amazing! More fun and excited to use it in actual play. Too bad it's now cold here in Canada. Probably, next year. Will surely practice inside my home your golf tips. They are gold nuggets!!!

      Good stuff. Too many people try to hit them too hard. Glad you are going to practice in the winter. Too many people think it's over when they can't hit a ball. Big mistake. No ball means no distraction. Perfect time to work on your swing. Then when the season starts you are playing great golf.

  • @method341
    @method341 2 роки тому +2

    So basically Paul, every swing is the same tempo and everything is the same except for the ball position and stance width? So we are not intentionally trying to hit down on the ball or sweep the ball; we just swing through?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 роки тому +2

      Same swing. All clubs. People keep trying to hit longer clubs harder. This tightens the wrists and leave the face open. Just let it go.

  • @grant8257

    Paul, I have purchased the body swing and many of the lessons I have implemented and have made a very big difference. The problem I have is I tend to hit my driver pretty well, its when I get to my irons that I struggle with consistency. Friends have told me my swing is different when it comes to driver and irons. I almost feel like my clubs are too short. I get good rotation and stretch feedback on my driver but irons I feel really hunched over. I'm 5'10 so not overly tall, I just can't seem to figure out why my irons are the weakest part of my game.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 роки тому +5

      When this happens the person is trying to hit down on the ball trying to take a divot etc. Never do this. You need to do the setup. Look up then look down as I explain. Never clearly see your toes only the club and ball. So start there. Then stop trying to hit down on the ball. This hitting down occurs due to the right fundamentals. Do that first then you should feel the coil and uncoil. Also, never see your toes when you are coiled at the top. This would be the tell-tale sign you are hunched over. This is all in The Body Swing. You need to watch and do the setup lesson again. Follow it carefully.

    Hey from Australia, Paul. Another great video. Your simple tips are amazing. I find when I follow them they work great. No matter whether I’m playing here on the Gold Coast in Australia or on one of the many golf courses in Hua Hin in Thailand unless I try to smack the cover off the ball. Then I chicken wing it and it can go anywhere and never the same distance!!

    Coach Pual, I used to play around 2003 then stopped. Back at it post covid. I'm great at pitching and chipping, but I also have to work on the 6-3 iron. They go ok but stay low and are short more often than I'd like. The odd thing is, is back years ago I could not hit a driver. Now since I watched your chicken wing video (and others) I am hitting the driver great. I got a Sim Max and can hit it straight 250 plus. I think even longer. The driver feels comfortable and I'm confident over it. So how can I transfer the success with the driver to the 5 iron 4 iron and 3 iron? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. I tell everyone at the range/course about you! Also, I'm hitting the 3 and 5 ping 425 hybrids clean! I used to shoot in the 90s. When I started again it took me about 4 buckets to start getting the PW up in the air again. I feel like I can be really really good because my pitching and chipping is good, my driver and hybrids are terrific, and my SW-7 iron are pretty solid and I've only been at it a month.

    It’s funny. I’m 6’6”. I can hit to about my 5 iron and start having issues. When I start to use your techniques in keeping my wrist loose and rotating the club through at impact, I do so much better but it feels so weird to me. I also have issues hitting woods because my head comes up a lot because I’m tall and I hit behind the ball a lot. How do I get better with this?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 роки тому

      Glad you are doing well. Well, some of it is changing the way you think. I am not hitting anything. I am making a movement and the ball is hit. So stay focused on the movement. Do this stuff easy at first then gradually build it up. Too many people want to be Tiger Woods in 2 seconds. Get it then go faster with the body. You can work on this position to stop coming out of it:
      ua-cam.com/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/v-deo.html
      Be careful not to over do the tilt though.

    As a beginner golfer, I have been told that less lofted, longer clubs, require MORE club head speed than more lofted, shorter clubs? I can probably hit a good 9 iron at around 70-80 mph club head speed, but, to hit a good shot with 4, 3, 2 or 1 iron, I need much higher club head speeds, 90-100 mph or more? Doesn't this means that I have to swing faster, harder, to hit the longer, less lofted clubs?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Рік тому

      Nope, you do that and you tighten which leads to twisting the face, not being able to square the face and hitting it shorter. Do what I said in the tip and you will see amazing long irons.

  • @jeffreysantore7606
    @jeffreysantore7606 Рік тому

    So when you say hit 60% how is that done. Are you slowing down the firing of the hips? or is it done with slowing the arm speed or shorter back swing?

      You are probably correct. Throughout the years I have been the last resort for many golfers. They have literally been ready to quit golf. Once I get them to turn off the arms they see that they actually can hit the ball well. Just got to simplify and show people there is a different way to swing.

  • @MrMazin2

    Sorry to bother you with questions. For a 20+ handicap golfer, regular flex or stiff flex? And what is Seniors flex?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 роки тому

      Depends on your swing speed and other things that a prefessional fitter would explain but at your level and you have a reasonable swing speed lets say 7 iron 150 yards then go with regular. I used x stiff. I hit 7 iron 170. Senior shafts are weaker so a slower swing speed and you are a senior you might benefit from them. I would go to a golf store and hit some clubs with different flexes into their net. That should give you a good idea.
