It's ironic that Leslye Headlund thinks that it doesn't matter whether someone is good or evil, when she also implies that whoever holds a lot of power is evil. Because Disney has a lot of power, and would therefore be evil, according to her. So clearly she doesn't mind being evil if she's the one with the power!
That's happend when you hire someone who doesn't have any idea about Star Wars, Headland is like Rian Johnsson, both dislike Star Wars, and they don't want to understand.
She herself is evil according to herself lol, she has a position of power as a writer for a Star Wars project. Also, that message of everyone with lots of power is evil gives me the same vibes as SJW's saying "the rich are evil", "tax the rich" and similar messages they like sending out.

He uses them synonymously. You’re reading into it. For the mainline Lucas movies it’s the dark side, the sith that are evil, vs the people that follow the will of the force the Jedi. No need to complicate things

Hmmm, I remember a comment that George Lucas said when the first Star Wars film came out, he said - If he had made the first three films with Anakin and Padme's story no one would have come to see the next three with Luke. I don't really want the dark side characters played like misunderstood underdogs.
Prime Star Wars was 1977-2012. All down hill from there with one or two occasionally good things (Rogue One, Tales Of The Jedi, The Mandalorian) :/ but it pales in comparison to the plethora of content we were provided with in the expanded universe. Sure, some stuff wasn’t the best, but Luke was treated with respect, the gang was together, we got to delve into The Old Republic and amazing characters like Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Darth Nihilus, Vitiate, Bastila Shan, HK-47 and other memorable and iconic characters were created. George Lucas Star Wars was complete experimental and creative freedom.

i just love how star wars has the biggest and most devoted fanbase out of any other fiction, yet disney always finds a way to find people who have absolutely no care for the story to make their projects. One of the writers of this series NEVER watched any star wars movies. 1. How is that even possible 2. HOW DO YOU HIRE SUCH A PERSON??
Tony Gilroy came into Rogue One with very little knowledge of Star Wars, and then gave us Rogue One and Andor. Meanwhile, the writers of Rings of Power were Lord of the Rings superfans, and they gave us the worst dreck ever. Sometimes a fresh perspective is a good thing. I love Dave Filoni's stuff, but it does all feel the same to some degree, and fresh ideas are needed. The real question is not are you a fan of the series, but rather, do you respect the series, are you interested in doing your homework, etc? Now someone who comes in and says, "it's not about good and evil" does seem to me like someone who doesn't really respect what Star Wars is about, given that Lucas himself said multiple times that Star Wars is about good vs evil. Star Wars is also about space nazis, so we definitely don't want to take this to a "there were good people on both sides" kind of place.
i mean its good to have an objective, unbiased set of eyes, they can focus more on making the show make sense and call the other writers out if something doesnt make sense story wise and not just having tunnel vision beacuse they know every little detail about star wars

Then this is an 'issue' of semantics.
Because "Balance" means equality = same number on opposite sides.

There is no balance as long as they are around, just like you are not healthy as long as you are sick. Your body is not kept in good order by being equal parts healthy and sick in some way.
@@abeaconintheoffice No, balance is the right word. It's just that it's not a balance between light and dark, it's rather a stable (ie blanced) light side. The light side can exist in balance with the force; the dark side tries to pull the force/light side out of balance.
I would argue that the Jedi had come out of balance on their own, and that's what allowed the Sith to succeed and create the Empire. They were out of balance in two ways: 1) Their allegiance to the senate was greater than their allegiance to the force; 2) They tried to completely stamp out emotion and attachment, instead of learning to live *in balance with* emotion and attachment.
@@erinm9445 You were doing well, until no. 2 of your last paragraph. It's not that the Jedi ruled out emotion completely... Anakin had too much of it. George has said multiple times in public that attachment is bad. We tend to put a different weight on this word. But it's inherently bad. You have attachment because you can't let go, not because you feel something. There is no balance in attachment... And the movies were very clear about this. The conversation Anakin has with Padmé on that shuttle going to Naboo in EP 2, and when Anakin seeks Yoda's council in EP. 3, those are the scenes that convey this the most.

The no "Good or Bad" thing pretty much sounds like the path that the "Destiny 2" video game is taking. In the Starwars univers it would be: "There's no good of bad side in the force, but only users and what they do with this power."

I don't think Dave Filoni had a mass amount of control of the Acolyte like he would for future shows since he got promoted after the show went into production.
Even when he did have full control, the products he came out with were littered with problems.
Im kind of glad Filoni wont have a major involvement in the Acolyte. If he did why try to find a way to shoehorn in Ahsoka somewhere :P
Even if he has as much control as they say, he likely can't use it without toeing the company line on their ideals. They like him because of the respect the fan base has (more like 'had' these days), but he's still an employee with a contract that no doubt says as much as "toe the line and get paid copious amounts of cash, or be edgy and get the sack".
I know alot of people don't trust Filoni now, but I have a possible reason as to why theres such a difference between what he did back then vs what he's done now. At the time of Clone Wars, Rebels, and Mando Seasons 1 and 2, that's all he had his focus on. When Clone Wars was in production, that's all he had to focus on. When Rebels was in production, that's all he had to focus on. Same with Mando S1 and 2. But now he has Mando, BOBF, Ahsoka, and the Bad Batch. He has so much on his plate that's its harder to put all the quality into all of them within the certain deadline. Rather or not Disney or Filoni is the one urging that these all be done in a certain time frame is the question. Just throwing that out there.
Dave Filoni can't do anything without fan service and shoving his OCs in the project.

No, Lucas said in the featurettes that restoring balance means destroying the Sith. The Sith, the dark itself, is an imbalance. And Vader kills Palpatine and dies, bringing the Force back into balance.
I haven't heard that one. Balance requires two things that must be balanced.

You don’t have to be Sith or Jedi to use the light or dark side of the force.
The force absolutely seeks balance between light and dark.
It’s why The Sith were able to destroy the Jedi and form the empire.
It’s why Luke (and Vader) was able to destroy the Sith and restore the republic.
It’s why this cycle will keep repeating for eternity and why Kreia hated and wanted to destroy the force.

If Balance meant equal Sith and equal Jedi, then the ending of Return of the Jedi and the ending of Rise of Skywalker would be a terrible ending for the Galaxy, because it's now imbalanced since there is only Jedi left.
But the writers, directors, George Lucas has made it clear. When the Jedi win, there is balance, and peace throughout the Galaxy. Hence the happy ending.

She's a good editor, but a good editor can't make a bad project good. Unless there's cut material that needs to be added in, there's no real way editing can make a bad movie or show good

She has made many suggestions about scenes that needed to be added or changed for the movies to work. She also previously has made George Lucas gather the actors in order to shoot new scenes when needed, so she is more than an editor.
@@officialmonarchmusic Marcia Lucas is literally the difference between the OT and the prequels. She was the one who kept it simple, direct, and powerful. Without her around, SW became an unhinged runaway playground for every idea that hit Lucas' notepad and while the prequels had cool characters and moments, the overall narrative was a convoluted and overcrowded mess. Everyone can see this, everyone knows the OT is better, but the fact that Leslye dared to point this out in an interview once is half the reason Theory and his army of haters turned on her. For DARING to point out that sometimes, a smart man isn't enough to get the job done 100% on his own.

Any actual example of something she changed was when George second-guessed himself and took a scene out, like the “kiss for luck”, where Marcia persuaded him to keep it in. She probably would have left in most of the deleted scenes from AOTC and ROTS, which, don’t get me wrong, would have been great, but I doubt she would have had THAT big of an impact on the films.
Furthermore, this is irrelevant. The things you are describing were not her editing work, they were her relationship with her then-husband. If she stayed on as an editor for the Disney projects like the OP said, she would be just that, an editor. A good editor, undeniably, but an editor nonetheless. How would she significantly change TROS? TLJ even?

Also, while she was all the things you said, I believe her impact has been exaggerated by revisionist history Lucas haters. The only moment I know of her persuading Lucas to change something was to keep the “kiss for luck” in the movie. There were doubtless others, but this makes me think her largest role was persuading George to be confident and not second guess himself rather than adding completely new ones

Fully agree. We'll be entering a dark era soon if we don't change course. This brand of moral relativism has some roots in postmodernist thought and is becoming a popular way to view things. A key feature in the appeal of Star Wars, in my opinion, was that it drew a clear line between good and evil, light and dark. But that seems to be coming to an end.

Sw Theory regarding "good or bad thing"
The show is set around 200-100 years before TPM, at that point jedi had become arrogant as yoda says. I believe that the line "It´s not about good or bad, this is about power and who´s allowed to use it," is refering to how ( maybe) in the acolyte we will get to see the so perfect jedi order of the high republic starts to get corrupt and starts to resemble the jedi order of TPM by jedi realizing how much power they posses and becoming arrogant, and this could even be explored by a jedi turning to the dark side in this show.
I think that makes a lot of sense. And if you look into the background of how General Grievous came to be, it’s because the Jedi essentially wiped out his people, because the other side of the conflict, who were the aggressors, was aligned with the Republic.
I think exactly the same. "It's about power and who can use it". The Jedi forbade other Jedi from using the dark side... that's a power hierachy about power... I personally think that the Acolyte will be the Jedi - not this antagonist. They won't be consumed by the dark side but marvel at the power of the dark side which then corrupts the Jedi Order to the point where they become even more misguided in their order.

What problem?
The line "it's not about good or bad, it's about power and who's allowed to use it" is a common belief amongst social justice (now DEI) advocates. They claim that those in power are actively oppressing minorities and preventing them from holding any kind of real power. "It's not about good or bad" is a justification to achieve this power, ie: by any means necessary. It's a very sinister type of thinking where the ends justify the means and if the line separating good vs evil is erased, then whatever methods used are not at all in conflict with any type of opposing belief system. It's not lost on me that it was a black female that stated this line.
The fact that Theory couldn't wrap his head around the use of that line doesn't surprise me. He seems like a genuinely good dude that only wants to see the best in people. For good or bad, I'm assumedly a little more jaded than he.
TL:DR - The Acolyte will be another proponent of THE MESSAGE
