Canada expands visa-free travel for 13 countries

- The federal government announcing passport holders from 13 countries will now be able to travel to Canada without requiring a temporary residence visa. Alex Karpa reports.
This is absolutely a terrible idea.
Why? I have lived in the Caribbean all my life and would love to visit Canada.🇨🇦 Its a beautiful country and I would be truly honored to visit it without a Biometric test that costs is USD that would be about $1000 give or take. I need to travel to another country and book a Biometric test there and hope I get approved. I have 2 twins and a Wonderful wife and would love to visit someday. Please do kindly understand how fortunate we all are and would only want the best for each other.
Don't pay them no mind. They just blind and forget how Canadian people came all around the world to help grow this country. Are population is wayyy to small 50 million is nothing. We need more people like you. I came from east Africa back in 1988. They expected my 5 big families of mind. Over 40 people at one time. Landing Immigrants paper work was soo easy back in the 90s.

Is the Canadian capable of absorbing those who will not return? Do they have a sustainable infrastructure? Will it not boost up the already unaffordable soring housing price? I have no idea why the Canadian government makes such a decision? The job market is weak, and it will not make the job market tight where AI is taking over human labor. Point to ponder before opening the door for more immigrants. Foreign investors have been a huge factor in shooting up the housing price. Thanks

announcement for nothing, it was already like this. Your visa was stamped open ended with the same time as what your passport showed. So, if you got your passport and got a visa, you were in for 10 years recurring every 6 months.
We should be doing the opposite and CHARGE THEM MONEY FOR THE VISA.. $150.00 USD (equivalent) keep the riffraff out

Canadian citizens no want to work at low paying jobs. I chat places I got shopping restaurants etc. More then half are here on Work or student Visa. The Prime Minister announced before the pandemic ended that He would be bringing 500k work visas from India each year from up to 5 years. That's just one Country.

I was born in Canada, I live with a Man from India and a Lady from Nigeria, both amazing people, hard working and honest, would love to see both of these people become Canadian Citizens..... BUT we have laws for a reason, we need to start holding our elected officials accountable,

@@northboy7996 you can literally leave Canada after the 3 years and right after applying still get citizenship. Have even stated di point virtual citizenship tests and oaths. So many people view getting Canadian citizenship as a short term commitment with huge returns.
@@amyseaden9069 citizenship but not all the amenities that come with it. Like you can lose your right to vote and even for healthcare ! Like myself. I’m 12th generation Canadian however plan on leaving to Europe for 11 months and if so will lose free health care services that all Canadians enjoy. Canadians really love to rant and rave about the woes of our system but really are little educated on it despite our smart society and really go off on hear say and urban legends.
So yea people can become citizens living aboard but they not only HAVE to still pay our taxes without living here. But get no healthcare or right to vote in elections. It’s a better “return” for Canadian living here full time.
@@northboy7996 citizens would also lose free healthcare if they don’t meet the residency requirement to qualify for healthcare in that province. When moving back to a province permanently you can reapply like anyone else moving back to Canada including citizens. There are residency requirements to qualify for healthcare to try and limit healthcare to those paying taxes in the province. You also are wrong about having to pay taxes while abroad. Unless you have some strong tie making you a tax resident(like your family living in Canada) you don’t pay taxes while living abroad. CRA can determine if you are a tax resident. Canada is not like the US and does not require people to pay taxes no matter where you live . Before criticizing you should probably know your facts.

Argentineans travel to Europe because they can get citizenship for the immigration years ago. This is better than Canada
You do know these are tourist visas, not for a permanent stay. You also realize that Canada has record-low unemployment and more jobs than workers. We don't need cheap poor quality food, that is what they do in the USA and it leads to more people sick. Canada doesn't have a high crime rate... so lets stop the nonsense. Inflation at 5% is high for Canada, but is low for the rest of the World, so put it in context.
@@tonespeaks Canada has recently started allowing those on tourists visas to apply for work permits from within Canada so many will arrive as visitors and try and remain by applying for work permits. Inflation rates are incredibly high in Argentina and not great opportunities for young people so many may be tempted to come as visitors and try to remain and work in Canada.

This will entice them to move to Canada, if they have the skills and meet our requirements that we need, we can invite them in. When a young person comes to Canada, they work more and use less services like health care. In other words, they pay more into the system than they take out. This is the reason immigration is important. Our biggest problem in Canada is not a lack of housing, it is people flocking to GTA and Vancouver. The rest of Canada needs 50% more people, which will make costs in those areas cheaper. These areas will benefit from economies of scale. What Canada hasn't done for decades is diversify our economies away from GTA and Vancouver. We have so much land and so few people, this is the real reason costs are so high. It costs the Government a lot to plow 1km of snow. If those costs are distributed over 1000 people, it costs a lot less per person, than over 100 people on the same road.
@@tonespeaks definitely don’t have enough housing for our growing population especially suitable housing. Housing growth has not kept up with population growth throughout Canada. Not quite as easy as you say to spread out the population throughout Canada. Actually spreading people out across the whole country would be a major issue because you’d need infrastructure across the whole country. It also doesn’t make sense for many industries to work out of many cities due to industries that depend on each other, easy transportation routes, etc. I do think immigrants need yo consider moving to more than 3-4 cities but you can’t force people to move when there is freedom of movement. Young people especially children and women of childbearing age tend to use quite a lot of healthcare, need schooling, daycare, etc.
I am sponsorship my spouse from costa rica...application is approved now for PR...so do they still need visa to fly here ( they are coming to live here not to visit)..

We filipinos speak english in front of non english speakers. When we do speak tagalog to each other, it's 100% not about the non tagalog speaker in front of us. Most of the time, we talk about our kids, our families, household chores, appointments, and other everyday things. We have great respect for our neighbors and easily adapt to our surroundings. We easily adapt to canadian customs, values, and way of life while still remaining our cultural identity.
Additionally, it's important to note that not all of us have a Honda car with a Philippine flag. I proudly display a Toronto Raptors decal instead in my Dodge Caravan. It's important for you to understand not to generalize or make assumptions about individuals based on stereotypes.

Because too many already attempt to come to Canada and try to remain in Canada not visit. This is really meant to try and encourage visitors to spend money in Canada and return home. If ETA was the only thing needed a very large number of people would travel to Canada even just based on US visa and US visas tend to be easier to obtain because the US can deport people much more easily.
