There are a high number of assaults in Ocean City? I believe that. However, at least 90% of those can be attributed to people who are vacationing there having a bit too much too drink. Been going to Ocean City for the better part of 40 years and on the Boardwalk, it is very safe.
The creator did very little homework making this video. During July and August, Ocean City becomes the second most populous city in Maryland. The crime percentages use the full time population which in the winter is extremely low. Most of the crimes are committed by criminals who come to the city during the summer to peddle drugs or drink themselves into oblivion. She fails to mention there are only three routes into the city and each is monitored by license plate readers. They know the bad gurus are here before they get out of their cars. The city also has aggressive policing which sometimes gets them in trouble. The police force doubles on size over the summer months. Compared to Baltimore and the Washington suburbs, Ocean City is extremely safe. I’ve been coming here 68 years and have owned property the last 25. I’ve never had an incident.
These facts aren't true at all. You mention per capita which is the giant misconception. The per capita is based on resident numbers, not tourists. 8 to 10 million people visit here every year. So it appears to be very violent when it isn't at all. Baltimore and ocean city aren't even comparable.
In the summer, there are about 300,000 people in Ocean City on any given day. If you recalculate your statistics to include those people, the violent crime rate drops tremendously. You're only including permanent residents. I'm not sure what role race plays in this, but you mentioned it several times.
Left some facts out you’re bs video 200-350k influx of vacationers on a summer or holiday weekend 8 to 10 million visitors annually per summer.Yes it’s tourists committing the crime if you did a little research, you would know that fact. i’ve been vacationing in Ocean City Maryland for 43 years 3 to 4 weeks every summer never been a victim of a crime period. There hasn’t been a murder in Ocean City in over 20 years and guess who committed the murder vacationers from out of state, killed two other vacationers from out of state.i’m not exactly sure why it seems like touristy destinations ie Myrtle Beach Wildwood Ocean City Md have high crime rates.But it’s a little misleading the title of the video and crime stats you reported.

You must be such a pleasant person to live with. I've been to Ocean City 26 times since 1984 and never have had one single problem. Your Viewpoint is very judgemental and rely strictly on numbers. Check any other Beach town I'm sure the crime rate is higher than average. Try Myrtle Beach!
Introduced my wife to OC 6 years ago we've been going every summer - nothing but good times. Thre's prob more crime happening my town in Ohio than here.
A lot of animals roll in from Baltimore City, D.C with the law abiders. Let's not forget the very specials of Salisbury. The locals and annual vacationers know exactly what I'm talking about. Enough said.......

This is not a very realistic portrait of Ocean City. I took my kids down there in July for a week and we walked all around the town and never had a single problem. Going up and down Coastal Highway was peaceful and the boardwalk was peaceful. And who cares what percentage is black and white and Hispanic and whatever? As long as it's peaceful it's okay. I've been going to Ocean City since 1984 and I have never once had a problem.
We have gone here for years to vacation and never experienced anything like that?

as a resident i can say first hand that we find the biggest issue is that e v e r y square inch of space is now built upon. $6 soda,$12 for two scoops,$9 parking,not diggin it now.
