Great job and your suggestions made my led light install much smoother.
Awesome glad I could help.. thanks for watching
this is sick lmao. just got my carry a few days ago, learning as much as possible
Congrats. Feel free to reach out. More than happy to help!
Great video and very informative
Thanks, appreciate you watching!
Good job.👍✨🐸
Thanks!
good job👍✨
Thank you 🤗
This improves lights on most cars, even with positive switching. Use thick wires to reduce volt drop . Huge improvement.
Yes, I've added relays to my Datsun and my mini as well.. and my air compressors in my Buick are on relays too.. relays for everything!
Using relays on the tail/brake lights would be a great improvement as well, to improve their efficiency.
Yeah you are right about that.. I'm probably going to have to rewire this whole thing one day . Put a big ol relay box in it! 🥴
I got these same lights but the non RGB version, it’s just a white halo. I wanted it to be simple as possible. The halos are always on when the key is on. I connected the two halos together and tapped into the 12V Cig lighter. So now anytime the truck is running or just in accessory mode the halos are on. One less thing for me to forget to turn off when getting out of the truck
Awesome. That is a nice and easy way to do it. I did consider that as well. But I wanted the green so I thought it best to have to cover to override. 😜 Thanks
This is a very helpful video for those who don't understand negative switched power on Japanese mini trucks. Thanks!
I bought the 5X7 LED headlights for my Daihatsu Hijet mini truck but haven't installed them yet. I subsequently converted all of the other factory lighting to LED bulbs. Today's project is installing the largest US battery (35N) that will fit in the battery box. I considered making the battery box larger to install a deep cycle marine battery in case I want to run a large inverter to power 120 VAC power tools such as my electric chainsaw or a circular saw. I've been procrastinating the LED headlights because I'm almost certain I'll need the relay wiring harness. After the battery installation today, with new battery post clamps to convert it to US batteries, I'll measure the voltages at the headlight bulb connector so I can get the parts to complete the LED headlight installation. I'm working outside and decent weather days have been rare this winter. It's usually cold or wet... or both.
Glad to be of any help. I didn't really understand it either till I did this but it is pretty simple tough. Although looking back i realize now why the LEDS on my Austin Mini lost hi beams!
That is awesome the switch over to the US batter. I wonder if you used an inverter with that much stuff if your alternator would keep the charge up on a deep cycle? I've never really messed with the inverters. Florida is just wet and hot.. I think I'd prefer wet and cold...
@@inkandpistons - If I ran a large inverter, say 1000-2000 watts, I'd put the transmission and transfer case both in neutral, engage the emergency brake, and run the idle up to 2000 RPM so the alternator could be a very inefficient generator. If I did that very often, I'd rig some method to maintain a high idle other than the "brick on the gas pedal" method. If I used a large inverter often, I might be tempted to install a larger higher current alternator. Even then, the inverter couldn't be used continuously. My applications would be intermittent duty - A minute of chain sawing and a minute or three of loading firewood, or a minute of circular sawing and a few minutes of measuring, marking and assembling whatever I was building. The 35N battery that I bought should be capable of sourcing 1500 watts (approximately 2 HP) for a minute with a few minutes of recharge recovery. The battery is sized to start a large car or small truck.
@@Liberty4Ever I like the brick idea.. kip it simple! 😆
@@inkandpistons - NO! Over engineer everything! I'd probably use FreeCAD to design a ratcheting throttle adjustment rod and 3D print it so I could wedge it between the seat hump and gas pedal to allow me to adjust the throttle position. Version 2.0 would use a servo feedback mechanism so I could digitally adjust the desired engine RPM and it'd maintain that tachometer setting regardless of the engine load. :-)
@Liberty4Ever lol.. yes..that sounds like a youtube video to me.. sponsored by send cut send and athletic greens and ship station.. lol
Great video man! Just wondering if you have any idea if the 88’ Honda Acty with the circle headlights are the same size as these. Thanks
Hey sorry just saw this question.. i believe they are. most lights around this era were all the same 7" lamps.. you should be good to go.
love the green kick a$$
thanks !
you should paint the truck green to go with the "frog" theme. The halo's on the lights would have made good turn signal lights.
Yeah that is the plan.. still picking out the shade of green... I did consider the turn signal, but I was worried I'd get pulled over with a green flasher.. 🤷
Do you leave the DRL and turn signal lights unplugged and just utilize the OEM signals?
Been a minute but I believe the DRL is the green led I just put this on an override switch I can turn it in and off as desired.. the yellow wire that would work for the flasher I left disconnected. I didn't want the green to blink off to yellow with a turn.. plus I want sure if the the led would cause complications with the flasher timing. Usually there isn't enough resistance so flashers go too fast.
Hi there. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Is the negative switching only an issue in regard to the hi/lo beam headlights?? Are all/any other circuits negative switched on the Suzuki?? Just trying to learn as much as I can before mine arrives in the UK from Yokohama. Thanks for your helpful videos so far. Thanks mate.
not a dumb question at all.. yes it is mostly a problem to retain hi-Lo . you can make two little jumper wires to put the polarity to the correct end of the LED and the car's harness. Probably just have the low beam only and leave the hi beam deactivated. I did this in my austin mini. its pretty easy you just need some 10 or 12g wires, spade connectors (male and Female ) and a test light.. maybe some electrical tape and or heatshrink to protect the spades from eachother.
I actually haven't found any other switches on negative.. but realistically there is just the wipers, headlights and maybe the horn? not many switches in the car anyway. :)
Thanks for your reply. You’ve had no issues with running all your lights?? Alternator good enough, and battery charging ok?? Looking forward to more Kei content with the van too. 😂
@@drift-it8160 so far so good.. don't quote me on it but I think LEDs draw a little less power than standard bulbs so should be better for longevity of the battery and alternator. Time will tell.. but no noticeable effects good or bad so far.
Great video! Do you have a make/model or link for the headlights?
Thanks.. yeah i bought them off eBay they were like 60 bucks www.ebay.com/itm/394219311488
@@inkandpistons Much appreciated man!
@@evwill805 no worries good luck
i was just about to ask this. haha
Do you think it would be possible to keep the glass light covers from the original lights with these LEDs? I want to upgrade the lights but dont want to lose those
No the bulb is sealed. but if you want that OEM look. look for an h4 conversion lens on Amazon. And then get an h4 led (you'll may still need the conversation harness) I did that in my 280z
@@inkandpistons was hoping for the ring and the oem glass, oh well. Did you need two of the harnesses or just one?
@@ScaredEdit just one harness should do it. Good luck
Did this install on my 94 110 hijet and now the blinkers don’t work, no idea what’s wrong
Id have to see how it was wired.. you used the harness? My guess is something isn't getting power or ground. Can you check with a test light to see if the blinker is negative switched. Also my blinkers only work when the car is on
Do you have a link for where you bought the harness?
This is the one I purchased from Amazon. a.co/d/8asfjgM
Do you let's have the wire for the halo light to be a turn signal? Ones I bought have yellow led ring for turn signal
@@stephenpinker6495 sorry i'm not 100% sure what you are asking there i think there is a typo... If you are asking how to make the halo a turn signal, I think you can just run a jumper wire from the existing turn signal to the yellow halo pin on the positive side.. i didn't try that though so I'm not 100% without a test light and the vehicle in front of me. it may require some relays also since the flasher may be working on the negative side . if the flasher cuts and restores positive it should be easy.. but that Halo connector will ONLY be looking for positive in since LED are one direction only... the ground is already handled through the other wires.
worse case just try it, you can probably do it temporarily with some alligator clips.
You shouldn't cause any damage as you will either be sending proper 12v+ to the halo or just double grounding it which wont do anything. just jumper the wire and turn on your blinker for a test
Lights I bought have a white halo for daytime running light and the same halo will light yellow for turn signal. I am assuming the turn signals also operate on a negative switch.
@@stephenpinker6495 gotcha.. yeah it likely does however on second thought there may be a separate 12v+ and neg b at the blinker in the side marker.. so theoretically you may may be able to grab the "ground" in the halo and separate it from the harness and use the flasher's ground, after pulling the 12v pos to the yellow halo line.. that might work.. someone smarter than me. Please feel free to chime in 😊
Link to harness?
Here you go...Headlight Wiring harness a.co/d/4dmtBz0
You can just flip the wires around, problem solved. No relay needed.
Incorrect.. you would be short a leg .. you could have low beams but no highs or vise versa. It's possible that might work in if you are not using LED lights or with a car wired differently but not this car
