  • As a recomendation from one of Darren's viewers, Darren is out on location to test Meguiar's wheel cleaner in the non-acid formulation for all of those that can't get past the idea of using an acid based wheel cleaner on their car wheels. See the pros and cons in this compariosn between the acid based wheel cleaner and the non-acid version.

    Hi Darren,
I got some Meguiar's acid wheel cleaner after your earlier video's on it, mainly because it is also effective at removing water spots. Works great.
Lately I've been using Chemical Guys "Grime Reaper" diluted 4:1 to clean my wheels, also works great. It is also better at shifting old dirt like you find under the bonnet better than "Rapid Remover" in my opinion and it doesn't stink like rapid remover.
"Stronger than Acid" according to Chemical Guys, mind blowing. :-) Not sure how it goes on water spots but I have Meguair's acid wheel cleaner for that job thanks to your advice.

Humidity here in Louisiana in the summer runs around 90 plus.
I have five large bay doors in my shop that helps , no way I'd go back to mobil here.
We're working on a climate control bay.
My go to wheel cleaner is Eagle 1 Wheel and Tire Cleaner.
Today's wheels there's no need to use a wheel cleaner on everyone one you have to clean , most clean up with a good soap and water only.

and also, can i use wheel brightener when doing rinseless wash as there is water restriction in my city. (my plan is spray cleaner, agitate if needed, then bottle spray with water or ONR, then wipe with microfibre cloth) thanks.

+AutoFetishDetail Thanks for the comparison video Darren...Also thanks for taking time out to make the video and sharing all your problem solving tips. Your years of experience and knowledge are invaluable to people such as myself. I used to just post photos of my work on FB and recently decided on creating a UA-cam channel. I now know how these videos take time out of the day and for me anyway as soon as the camera starts rolling I all of a sudden realise that describing the work I've done is harder than it looks and many a take 1 ...2...or 3 before I get it right. Brain Fade/Performance anxiety? Who knows. Unscripted vids are normally going to go off on tangents as our minds remember or forget things as we speak. I also admire that you don't worry about the people who comment that vids are too long. There are plenty of shorter vids available if they choose to watch them. I watched a vid of AMMO NYC and he said I'll try to make this quick because some people have commented about lenght of Vid. He then seemed rushed and panicked trying to remember what to say. Descriptive and informational vids are lenghty by nature. Most customers don't care about the info they just want costs and time frame but for someone like me who is self taught and hungry for tips and in some aspect mentoring I need vids such as this. Cheers from the Land Down Under

I think the waterspots are a typical hot climate problem. I live in north west europe and it is mostly wet here all year bit I never have this problem with waterspots. Must be a thing because of dry and hot climate that makes the water evaporate very quick and leaves more staines. Also nobody ises sprinklers over here, so theres only rainwater and that contains less materials.

Some of the pitting has broken thru on the barrels. So I don't want the acid to react to the bare aluminum finish. Just a precaution on my part. Thanks Darren!

Spencer C certain aftermarket wheels it’s not recommended. I’ve seen those get damaged, but overall most OE wheels you’re fine with acid if used the right way.

Whats your opinion on Chemical Guys Signature Series Wheel Cleaner?

I have extensive experience with most of the Chemical Guys products and they are ALL a great disappointment for what you spend on them. You are better off getting REAL pro products from REAL pro companies. Chemical Guys sell GARBAGE and pass it off as professional quality!!
