I really appreciate everyone opinions on what they would do with there FOH Builds. I would recommend scrolling down the comments and looking at the 30 different variation of the hybrid builds and such everyone has posted.
absolutely loved this build last ladder. I ended up using conviction still since i did a lot of group play, and I ran lawbringer/plague on the act 5 merc since I didn't find a Lo. Having the extra aura's was super fun and once I got enigma this build really helped me love the game again. Got this character about halfway through 97 before stopping for the season
Also there's nothing wrong with picking up cleansing, you will run choas sant and can take amplify dmg/freeze/poisons off you and your merc. It's a great toolbox class, you can save your tank merc. You should also talk about how holy bolt heals so he can tank for you when your gearing up.
I tried the Fohdin build on my single player pala who is level 94 has 4 pc skillers, torch, hoto, eni, maras, zaka, and a random 2 pala circlet. Its a solid build on p1 - 3 but i always play on p8 and its just way to underwhelming and slow compared to hammerdong. Its even worse at boss killing unless you have a hybrid / smite build.
I use both need a lot of plus skills but I got 7800 hammers for beasts and max holy bolt and foh for the best part of that build. Swap some gear around for smiter and it does everything really well. Best single player build I’ve ever made. Hammers fall off a bit on 5p + but foh still does good work.
I maxed FoH, Holy bolt, shield, and fanat. The rest into redemption. Fanat is great, I run it when I dont need mana (so generally switching back n forth between redemption and fanat). Turns your merc into a beast, and they nearly never miss their hits.
I run this same setup with hoto/zakrum and Grief and 120 all res shield on swap(just something i have from my budget uber build). Run P7 chaos to level past 90 and P5 baal runs. Super tanky. Redemption is great.
If you are struggling with doing higher player counts on diablo and ball runs only put 1 point into conviction and then max prayer and use a 1 point cleansing aura and/or 1 point meditation aura this way you self heal good and get rid of curses and you can control your own manna and use any merc weapons you like and not depend on insight this might sound silly but since those areas are all demons and undead holy bolt is doing all the damage and doesn't need conviction
The best merc is still an Act 2 merc with Holy Freeze and Reaper's Toll, the monsters basically don't do anything. I put a Kira's on him for his hit recovery, but you could use Guilaum's.
Try using a2 prayer merc with insight on reaper base and cure… Phil has a video about it makes you and merc veryyyy hard to kill u get x3 stacked prayer aura for example merc can facetank cows and meph with those 2 and only a smoke
I've had a level 85 foh paladin and a 99 hammerdin on single player. On players 1 foh blitzed certain areas alot faster, on players 3 a little faster. On higher players (especially p8) the hammerdin has a clear damage advantage. But foh is a far more fun character to play with. But that could be getting to 99 with hammers was painful experience lol cool video though
foh pal is my go to for lvling to 99 since you pretty much need to go into autopilot to make the grind more manageable lols. Also i personally dumped remaining pts into the hammer tree. Hammers kills whatever your holybolts n HBs from foh cannot kill (aka any animal/human class mobs). The build just gets better the closer to 99 you get since you cant max out your hammer trees when you are only able to dump leftover pts. It does suck seeing hammers dealing below 10k dam though hahaha

I did a similar tri build on my NL Paladin. Went with upped Guardian Angel for the extra res, HOTO and Spirit for casting and Heaven's Light and upped HoZ on swap for additional crushing blow and Smite damage. Faster cast has minimal impact on FOH because of the one-second cooldown, although I get that it's useful for hammers and if you use Teleport.
Thinking about it, I'm going to see if I can get a +3 skills Heaven's Light and just run that plus Hoz, CTA and Spirit on swap for extra tankiness. You can get to 48 FCR from Arachnid, rings and ammy, then all other gear pointed at melee and crushing blow (Gores, blood gloves etc). Should absolutely rip.

I would wear dracs and enigma for life after kill, and silkweave for mana after kill. Then I alternate between 1 foh and 2 holy bolt single target. Merc has insight. Hoz instead because its +4.
I'd skip out on holy shock. 1 point into fana so you can smite, rest into hammer and concentration. Left over into holy shield. I tried convection and maxing holy shock. I don't find it better than being a hybrid.
Have you tried more of the hybrid FOH/Hammerdin? Are you finding Holy Shock useful? Normally with the Hybrid you have hammers to deal with any immunes and it's nice because you can level with it as well. I've also heard a bit on wanting lower Redemption, because you want some corpses left to keep you full mana/health. Redeeming all corpses fast doesn't really help much. If you go pure FOH you only want a FCR of 75.
Its a good way yeah but you can rely on 1pt base and the skill from the gear is enough for redemption.What i like doing is Maxing FoH,HBolt,Fanaticism,Holy Shield and last points you put into Smite.Ofcourse we pick 1pt wonders like Vigor,Redemption,Salvation. Overall your FoH initial dmg doesnt matter cause u wont be going out of your way to kill non Demon/Undead mobs. I prefer playing through the story as Hammerdin and then switch to FoH/Smiter and you can start comfortably farming Countess,Pit,Trav,Chaos,Pindle. Edit:Forgot to mention that you with this build setup you get to be good farmer and uber smiter with some gear swaps which is pretty good since you dont need any respecs at all.
FoH is clunky imo. I'm building a holy fire/holy bolt caster paladin this ladder season. dual phoenix with flickering flame, Arachnid, 2 skills +fcr amy, magefist, fcr rings or sojs if I hit breakpoint for holybolt. Super spendy but it seems fun. Run around burning everything and shooting holy bolts lolol
Would love to try out foh with a faceted foh stick. I have a +2 foh skills but wish it had +3 or maybe something into conviction as well. I'm not sure if it will be worth it to put 5 light facets into it for just +2 foh. But it is ethereal so that's cool.
I have a level 85 hammerdin with vipermagi and dual spirit. I am able to clear most areas on hell. I tried to respec to FoH and it simply did not clear monsters as well. I was bummed bc i wanted to switch up the gameplay

My paladin does 10 to 11k FOH key item is a 4 to 5 Socket FOH stick 4 sock armor 5 dam light facets hoz with a 5 dam arch sojs Arch anni torch combat skillets maras I use eth treks trangs gloves and obviously at least a 20 griffon damage
Any idea how to level this character without respec? I`m trying with holy bolts because they are not waste of skills. May be could try holy lightning because they are not fully wasted point. But having big struggle at level 26 because the animals out there are many. 3rd act and fifth are just impossible. Or the usual way is fire shock till (lets say) 36 lvl and then resp? But how many there are farming areas? CS, WSK, some undead tombs.
Foh dreamer is by far the best pali i ever played dont sleep on that one guys Holy bolt and foh Max than build ur tesladin use crecent moon if u want it a bit cheaper
I disagree with this build you don't need holy shield instead put it into fanaticism so you can run a good weapon with some crushing blow deadly strike and open wounds. The skills are nice but not needed the base skills with the affinities is enough damage even on p8 to get kills. Being able to clear the whole game pricless...
i did a FoHDin/smiter hybrid last ladder. I got to Hell, Dclone spawned and I thought I would tackle him. He got my arse (I play hardcore). :( I do want to make another one. Not sure if I want to go off-ladder or wait for the next ladder.
I love using FotH over BH -- Hammerdins are quite boring to play... FotH = "Fist of THE Heavens" BotD = "Breath of THE Dying" HotO = "Heart of THE Oak"
They are great in demon and undead area's but everything else they suck lol hammerdin can kill anything in the game. I started season 2 ladder with an foh pally because my friend went javazon so he could use my conviction to kill fast. Running cows was so boring cause u really cant do anything in cows with them 😂

Sunder charm is not pointless - it gives quite a boost to single target DPS as FoH is initially lightning damage before holy bolts!

agree with most the gear but HOZ as shield is way better huge increase to your dmg. and you really dont need the FCR on a spirit.
My FOH is hybrid with smite. Works perfect for Ubers too

+4 combat astreons, +4 combat hoz, +3 combat ammy, +2 armor, +2 helm, +3 torch, +1 anni, +2 rings. +21 to combat total. Lvl 41 foh, lvl 41 smite.

Smoke is a good cheap option for armor
I would use guardian angel for the armor. Very underrated.

Holy shock is a waste
my ladder season 2 first was a FOH/Smite paladin. But is kind of situational. Crushes Chaos Sanctuary though.
Im going to test this out in single player. Never done a paladin. Maybe try it out in ladder season 4.
What about doing a 3/20 magic helm and throwing a HOZ on him? You would get one extra skill in helm slot and 2 extra in shield slot …?
So when your going for max block do you use a weak creature or a strong creatures last attack to reach %75?
What was the head armor in this build? You kept calling it a "Shako" but that doesn't sound right. I coulda sworn it was the "Shako Hat"
You don’t need holy shock at all. Spend those points on redemption. Weapon swap to save your life, no potions.

If I were to use grief and plague and merc casted a neg resist with the conviction on would monster res go lower or is conv capping it?
I remember I got 1 shotted from a Foher in LOD pvp and he had so many pally charms.

No videos on FOH specifically, but if your anywhere past act 3 normal you should get a tele staff. Then just teleport passed anything you want.

Holy freeze works best. But I still like might for merc damage. Griffons doesn’t help that much
