She finishes the NFL blankets despite some “sewer’s nightmare” problems with her sewing machine…..andPatrick, the Elf on the Shelf, is starting to get sad about having to leave soon . I so enjoyed the tamales. My friend from California who moved to MO She is precious. She made us Tamales on Christmas my husband enjoyed them so much! made me remember that! So loved the the books with Moose reading the book! that is the best idea! so happy the blankets worked out. I used to have a nightmare with those bobbins! .you are the best Nanny! It is so bad today so cold had forgot stuff and cannot go out!! So darn scary!
Nanny, I grew up helping my mother make tamales. Then I made them on my own. They are a lot of work! That is why the whole family helps. What a wonderful gift the talking book was to each family. Yes, Nanny, I agree with you about the books. I hope there will always be an appreciation for the real books we love. Like you, I am a book lover and painter and I continue to collect children’s books even though my children and grandchildren are grown now. Hopefully I will live long enough to have great-grands one day to pass on these beautiful pieces of art. Tamales sound so good!! I live in Texas so I can have them often. I would add Mexican beans though. Even chips with the salsa. Sorry you had trouble with the blankets. A suggestion for next time if there is one to maybe try embroidery thread and stitch. Pushing a thick blanket through a regular sewing machine is a chore. Have a blessed day! John 3:16

You brought so many happy memories to me in this vlogma. I always loved the night before Christmas book and wore my book out I read it so much. I love so much the tradition you have of Moosie reading it every year, it is so special. I also miss having homemade tamales since we moved from California to MO. They are so warm and delicious. Thank you both for your perseverance in these vlogmas, you are so appreciated and loved.

Weather: currently -3 degrees in my neck of the woods - snow, ice, WIND. Real feel is -26 in western PA!!!!!!!!!!! Only going out when my dog needs to...obvs
🎄 We hated our 1st tamale we bought at our church; we didn’t know we were supposed to remove the outer corn husk!!😂. We’ve saved all our Christmas books throughout the years to pass down to the next generation too! 💖🎁🎄

I would love to hear you read the story of the nativity. We have made tamales so the children have the whole SoCal gastronomic experience but this year I just bought them at Costco. We have them with chili and rice sides on Christmas Eve. Our other must have are fried sausage won tons. For breakfast Christmas morning we have Cinnabons. The following week I gain five pounds making stuffed shepherds bread and camel pies. January 2 I start a diet.

Oh yeah, tamales on Christmas Eve! That’s our tradition too! I tried to make them once. The friend who was trying to teach me laughed and laughed. Now I just buy them!
Nanny I had to tell you that I totally relate to that darn sewing machine adventure. It's always stressful when u have sewn for awhile. I've sewed alot over my yrs. I can sew anything. But my eyes are old and tired now. So hard to see . And that needle. Oh my it's such a hassle to thread!!! I haven't sewn in about 5 yrs. I can't even hem pants without cussing a storm. Byt I get thru it. I loved to sew. I love the things you have done for gifts. You are very motivated by the love for your family. You're little photo ornaments are such a treasure. My son loved bedtime stories so I read at least 25 every night. Sewing ---3 machines get stuck. I no longer use sewing machines and instead use iron-on hem adhesive and it works perfectly for patching also. My DIL is from Utah and she loves Mexican food. Merry Christmas from Pennsylvania. No more sewing machines for me ever again. lol

Another fun vlogmas and easy to see Moosie is having so much fun having a purpose of helping out! The kids and grandkids will appreciate everything for sure and so many gifts by hand will last forever. Cute sweater and earrings!! I sewed couch cushion covers once with heavy duty material and the timing in my sewing machine went out every day and I’d have to take it in and the guy would fix it for free. He was a blessing for sure. Angels in our lives!

I saw some familiar children’s books!! I sure hope books never are phased out of our culture that would be sad!! Love your tradition of Moosie reading the night before Christmas……how wonderful for your whole family! We read the polar express and each family member reads a page and passes it all around till the book is finished. We then open up our grab bag gifts that we get one another. After dinner on Thanksgiving we pick names! We have a ton of fun doing that!!

Hi Mary Ellen. Congrats on your amazing Xmas Vlogmas series! How wonderful that you incorporated literacy, and love of reading into your Xmas activities! Kids who are read to since babyhood grow up to be avid readers, and better people. Books are the best of best friends, one is never lonely when they love books. I grew up in a rural area which didn't have electricity or paved roads until I was 10. And a library? We could only dream! Books were scarce, and we read anything we could get our hands on, even books that were thrown on the beach ! My Mom relied on the Sears catalogues, and a twice a year visit to the nearest town (two hours away) to obtain books for us. The local school was sadly dearth of books , except textbooks. Suffice it to say, the resultant deprivation didn't quench my love of reading, only enhanced it. I later became a school teacher , a reviewer of books in newspapers , and national literary publications, and one day decided to try my hand at writing children's books. I now have had published 20 books, varying genres, with my latest, a collection of poetry just released. I look back on those early years, (I am now 73), and think how magical it would have been if a multitude of books were available to me then, I would have felt so rich! Books will never die out, as long as there are people like you, and me and millions of others who appreciate the world of reading. Merry Christmas and great health in the New Year, to you and Moosie and family!

We were at -34 degrees when I got up this morning here in Indiana - about 2-3 inches of snow. It is brutal outside. I have blankets up at every window and my furnace is still running 24/7. Oh the heating bill next month! So glad you have your Christmas presents ready - I can't believe you have managed to vlog and still get everything done early.

Yum, I've never had tamales but they look really good. I remember staying up till 1 or 2 am setting everything up for the kids (while my ex went off to bed early!) but I liked it, the quiet, and bringing down all the Santa presents. I love Christmas! x

It’s 28 degrees here in New Orleans and it’s supposed go down to 15. That is really cold for us. But have my heating blanket for me and heating pad for my cat Rusty. So we are ok.
That is why I sew everything by hand. I don't own a sewing machine.

Hi Nanny and m o o s i e I have to spell because when I say the word it comes out l u c y so anyway happy Christmas everybody's listening but anyway I'm here near Chicago there are some minus 21° and my furnace is only keeping half of the house warm so it's really terrible I'm in bed with the dogs and we have like three and four and five blankets and I have a space heater in here truly terrible I can last a couple more days till a heatwave we're going to have it up to 50 next week I think happy Christmas to all
