The "someone dropped a house on her sister" line is a Wizard of Oz reference, specifically what happens to the Wicked Witch of the East. He is comparing her to the Wicked Witch of the West.
At a time where we already have a lot of reacters with tumbs with their mouths open but forced or soulless reactions, Erica's is like watching someone actually watching these classics at the time of their release. Thanks for another video.
Along with the Wizard of Oz reference, the fly yelling "Help me! Help me!" as Beetlejuice drags him underground is a nod to the original 1958 version of The Fly.🪰😉
Wow. I’ve seen quite a few reactors watch this movie, and none of them recognized Dick Cavett. It’s always awesome to see someone from a younger generation who can notice stuff that old people like me would pick up on.
Love it's unique mix of cartoonish quirks set in a spooky landscape. Btw, i love you're reacting style. Dry and sometimes surreal sillyness like "he's not letting it go to waste" when he eat bugs. Or my favorite "at least they got a free cow" in the Mony Pythons Holy Grail- reaction.
I have watched all of your videos and have enjoyed them. I like your cute presentation , sense of humor, quirky observations. It also helps that you are easy on the eyes. My main point is that since this is October you should do a reaction to a spooky movie (preferably about ghosts). Sometimes, in the future, you should react to Blazing saddles.
Yes, it's pronounced "Beetlejuice". Betelgeuse is a very bright star in the Orion System. It can be seen with the naked eye, just north of Rigel. It's so big you could almost fit our entire Solar system in it and is close to 500 Light Years from us (The Light you see at this moment is an image from 500 years ago).
I remember seeing early stuff with the movie title actually spelled "Betelguese". I'm assuming they titled it phonetically because most people would be confused. At 9, I didn't get it al all.
The comment Otho made at his date about her being angry because someone dropped a house on her sister", is literally like saying she's a witch. It's a reference from the 1939 movie, The Wizard of Oz. The wicked witch of the east had Dorothy's house fall on her killing her in the process and her sister, the wicked witch of the west, sought revenge on Dorothy because she killed her sister.
The further we get away from the 1970’s the less likely the younger reactors will recognize and understand the indignity that was the “Leisure Suit”. That’s the powder blue suit Otho was made to wear just before he ran off in fear and disgust.
How DARE you, sir!? Leisure suits for the man about town, of sophistication and taste. You haven't lived until you've felt the scratchy kiss of chemically-cleaned crushed velour against your skin! Indignity? No, sir. CLASS!
Yeah, how old is she to recognize him. I am guessing late 20's maybe, possibly early 30's.No idea.i am near 50 at 48, turn 49 in December. Dick is near 90 at 87.
Every time I am reminded of this movie, I think it's funny that there's a large star in the galaxy called "Beetlegeuse" that you can see every night and it's supposed to go super-nova soon! (As long as you enjoy reacting blind to older movies, keep at it, suits you very well.)
I know people hate what Delia does with the house but since I was a kid I loved that rooftop with the random triangle wall with a single window. I love the scene of them sitting there, framed by that wall with the window and the blue sky looking like a painting. It's just so pretty. ❤
Hi Erica. I love your reactions! Your takes are always both funny and unusual, but also spot on! I won’t say when, but you made a comment which suggests you’ve never seen The Wizard Of Oz. If so, I suggest watching that ASAP. It is an extraordinary film and features heavily in all manner of pop culture to this day. Keep up the great work!
Erica, Tim Burton made a number of great films. Another fun spooky themed one is *Edward Scissorhands* (1990) starring Johnny Depp..and again Winona Ryder. Once you get out of spooky season I highly recommend *Pee-Wee's Big Adventure* (1985). It's so fun and hilarious. So many quotable lines. Its success spawned a critically acclaimed Saturday morning children's tv show that ran for 5 seasons (Pee Wee's Playhouse). It's based on the character Pee Wee Herman, created by actor/comedian Paul Ruebens.
Erica, Erica, Erica! Hey! Here you are!!! 🕺🏼💃🏻🕺🏼💃🏻 You know who Dick Cavett is?!?!? How does that happen??? When my grandparents died, I found that handbook! But it reads like stereo instructions, it's really hard to make heads or tails of it.
Such a fun movie and as usual your reaction is adorable, but close to 40 years on and I'm still amazed that guy is Batman. Funny thing is he's almost channeling the Joker here.
With the Halloween season in full swing, I've got to recommend both Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Ernest Scared Stupid. They're both fun, goofy horror comedies. Also, there is a connection between the two movies. The effects for both killer Klowns from Outer Space and Ernest Scared Stupid were done by the Chiodo Brothers. The Chiodo Brothers are the guys who wrote, directed, and produced Killer Klowns from Outer Space, as well as doing the practical effects and makeup. So some of the effects from Killer Klowns were reused and repurposed for Ernest Scared Stupid. I think they'd make for a great reaction. They're both perfect mixes of spooks, laughs, and great creature effects.
You actually pronounce Betelgeuse like Beetlejuice. It’s the name of a Star in the Orion constellation. It’s derived from the Arabic word Yad al-jawzā.
The weakest part of this otherwise perfect film is how both the Maitlands managed to die in that wimpy little car crash. Sure it's possible to drown in any amount of water, but it seems like it would take some effort on their part to not escape the car. Thanks Erica for another unique and entertaining reaction!
Not really. I live in South Florida-people die in pretty shallow canals all the time. The water pressure keeps the door shut. They sell spring loaded window breaking tools down here so someone can easily break their own window and hopefully swim out.
In a Volvo no less! 🚙 But.. The seatbelts seemed fairly slack and at least one window was fully opened. So when the car flipped over they could first have bonked their heads in the roof on surface impact. Then it would sink fast because of the open windows, and then also be more likely to jam firmly into mud on the bottom. So may possible be it would be over the windows even, blocking exit. Or in any case making the doors impossible to open. The thing really clashing with world rules though, is that every other character seem to have the passing condition or marks permanently manifested. So they really should be dripping all the time. But, budget and practical effect constrictions I suppose. ;) I won't spoil the sequel, but that one seem to confirm this.
"Betelgeuse" is actually the correct spelling of the name. (It's the name of a star.) "Beetlejuice" is the incorrect spelling, presumably incorporated into the film so that audiences would know how to pronounce it. That's just a guess on my part, though.
6:26 - No, no. The name Betelgeuse (also the name of a star in the constellation of Orion*) is actually PRONOUNCED Beetlejuice, hence the name of the film. *O'rion: the Irish constellation 😄
24:27 Erica is asking the real questions. I also thought what if you die on a plane in the air of a heart attack or something? You gonna haunt the air or the plane?
Probably something about physical realm attachments. Either by by emotion or proximity. Just read the book when there! 👻 Anyway, I doubt the dented football team actually did that, and then made the door. So maybe one go straight to the waiting room if there are no binding living world conditions. At least the place seem better than the Twin Peaks waiting room.🙃
I love the faces she makes while watching the movie. They entertain me more than the movie itself.

Love your reactions and your deadpan humor. Keep 'em coming. Kudos for recognizing Cavett.
Best talk show of the 70's.
"Then why is he on TV?"
🤣
"I guess his parents named him that."
🤣 What?
"Not letting it go to waste."
😳
"Is he a ghost frog now?"
🤣
I'm looking fowared to see you do a reaction to beetlejuice beetlejuice
I like how you progressively opened up as you made more videos and are more talkative and comfortable
Great reaction! This girl gives off such a positive vibe.
extreme positivity.
Erica, 87-year old Dick Cavett appreciates your support! He was/is one of the coolest people. 👍👍
Dick Cavett is a legend.
Wow. I’ve seen quite a few reactors watch this movie, and none of them recognized Dick Cavett. It’s always awesome to see someone from a younger generation who can notice stuff that old people like me would pick up on.
Yeah, that was a real record scratch. With all the actors in that movie, would never have guessed the 2 she names...
Erica, this film should be put in the "Perfect for Erica's Sense of Humor" section of your playlist.... 😆😆
"He just wants to clip his coupons." That's probably the best thing I've heard all year, ngl. :)
And, "Then why is he on TV?"
🤣
He wants to do more than that.
I think you're the most genuine person on UA-cam. Loving your reactions!
18:42 “Beetle Concentrate” 🤣🪲🍊
¡Gracias!
That is so thoughtful! Thank you!!! 🤗
Thanks for the reaction and recap! I'm just about to watch Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. :)
"Pee-wee's Big Adventure" is right up your alley.
Even better than beatlejuice imo
She would love it.
Another great and kooky reaction!
You're the best Erica. Keep em coming
Agreed, perfect movie to see you react to. Thanks, Erica!
“but I guess Beetlejuice is from another time” ..lol Can’t believe you recognized Dick Cavett over the other stars. Thats so weird and cool.
Love it's unique mix of cartoonish quirks set in a spooky landscape.
Btw, i love you're reacting style. Dry and sometimes surreal sillyness like "he's not letting it go to waste" when he eat bugs.

That's awesome that you recognized Dick Cavett

Great reaction. Was happy to see you posted another reaction!
You had me at Airplane! So expressive. Congrats on 10K
You grooving along to the commercial music was a total vibe, great reaction hon!
"Is he a ghost frog now?" Always asking the questions no one else has the balls to!
Your reactions are honest. That's good.
Erica, you're at 10K!!! Congrats!!!
🎉 🥳

Cool that you knew who Dick Cavett is. I love his interviews.
I love the fact she thought that guy had "1800's white hair" and it was a plastic shower cap LOL

Whoa! "Beetle Orange Liquid" was the name of my punk rock band 😲
G'day Erica , Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 👻 🤡 👻 love your Film reactions and I simply must say you rock 🪨 the ponytail 🦄
You do bear some resemblance to Wynona Rider.
I love this movie, you have just posted the best reaction to it I've seen! ✌👍👍

Another great job!🙂💯
I dont think Ive ever seen a reaction channel get such consistent views over 20k in their first 8 videos this quickly... pretty wild.
I know people hate what Delia does with the house but since I was a kid I loved that rooftop with the random triangle wall with a single window. I love the scene of them sitting there, framed by that wall with the window and the blue sky looking like a painting. It's just so pretty. ❤
Fun reaction Erica.
LOL Your reactions are hilarious. Keep em coming 😂
13:01 Otho's making a Wizard of Oz reference here, comparing the woman to the Wicked Witch of the West
😂
The shrimp hands at dancing dinner scene were the shrimp she was referring to.
Congratulations on the 10 K subs !!! 😊
Hi Erica! ... this movie is a favorite! The scene of betelgoose in front of the clubhouse, and the graveyard scene! Thanks for sharing 🪳💦
I was a teenager when this came out. This was my grandmothers favorite movie
16:30 😏 Heh. I was quite young when I first saw this movie. I found _this_ part a good deal more exciting than it was intended to be.
You are quickly becoming my favorite reaction specialist. You wouldn't happen to have a Patreon would you?
Excellent reaction! I still hope you watch the original Carrie.
"Open this door you dead people!" She aint scared of nothin
"The thing" (1982) next
just discovered your channel. liked, subscribed, and comment posted

Unlike Captain America, you didn't understand the Wizard of Oz reference
The fact she knew who Dick cavett was kinda surprised me.
I understood that reference.
NEED to do honey I shrunk the kids and/or honey we shrunk ourselves!!!!!!!
I just recently saw beetlejuice the musical and in that he does kiss both Adam and Barbara when he meets them lol
Thanks for another great video, Erica; congrats on the well-deserved 10k and hope you're having a lovely weekend!
"That's gonna make it harder for him to find a girlfriend."
He came from a different time! Well he did say he lived through the Black Plague. That was a few years back.
It's an obscure 80's comedy, but quintessentially a great, funny, and sweet Michael Keaton film worth watching, Erica:
"Mr. Mom."
You spelled "Gung Ho" wrong
@@donkeydarko77 It's good too, but Mr. Mom often gets overlooked.
Erica is just adorable. I know I'm right, 10.100 subscribers seem to agree with me :P
She's enjoyable to watch, even with the movies I don't care for.
It’s Showtime!!!
Erica, you are a trip.
10:16 Erica's elation upon hearing the line "I, myself, am... strange and unusual" is hilarious to me

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!
That’s awesome you recognized dick cavette🎉 awesome react
Love your reactions and your humour, good dance moves too. If you seen that book would you pick it up and read it?.... Take care.
6:12 This is something odd about the afterlife. Apparently, they still have commercial enterprise. 🤷♂ Don't ask me what they use for money.

@@WiseJoeGaming Ooh that's another good one. Nice parody of hillbilly horror movies.

My head canon is when the car flipped over on its top, they got knocked unconscious, and that's why they drowned.
I talked to Glenn Shadix on the phone once. I helped him with his website, he was a really nice guy.
You should see Heathers, starring Winona Ryder. She was a huge star for awhile. How did you recognize Dick Cavet? You're doing great! Keep on rockin

You could easily be cast in a Beetlejuice movie
Erica missing the Wizard Of Oz reference makes me feel old.
He`s not in it very much but Micheal Keaton OWNS this movie!....... And he is THE Batman. :)
Keaton is Batman.
5:42 Foreboding... 👻
How does a youngster such as yourself know about Dick Cavett. You must be studying the 1970's. Your reactions are always so enjoyable.
Yeah that was out of left field her knowing him.
@@patkostiw8471 I assumed it was from Forrest Gump since the thumbnail for that reaction popped up
Hereditary (2018) for Halloween 🎃👻
