    Anna you've inspired me, I'm still enjoying following your videos, my nails are looking much better, been doing your recommendations, even got a urea cream and daily oil : ). And now I decided I will get the Dior nail glow and will do my own manicure for my upcoming wedding!
    Update: The nail glow is really as brilliant as the hype! You also mentioned in another video that if you regularly care and polish (as per) the nails they will change shape and they did! All my life I've had... jagged internal edges of the nails' whites, in some areas they would go further in as if the nail was lifted; I also got a Mont Blanc glass file 😉, gave up the clipper, regularly filed them nicely and used a gentle clear polish, plus all the oily concoctions. Now the whites are all nicely rounded and in line like well behaved children!
    Never imagined my "little girl" nails would become 'a thing' for me, I know nobody really notices but they now give me joy somehow : ))

    Do you have any tips on maximizing adhesion with damaged nails? You did an amazing job and I’m so impressed the gel you put on to protect them during growing out the damaged stuck so well

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  10 місяців тому

      Hi Katie! Depends on the extent of the damage but when the nail is too thinned out I would not advise gel or any enhancements because you are risking skin contact and overexposure (permanent allergy). Please check out my recent video for details ua-cam.com/video/_9PUgeELG3U/v-deo.html

    I did try OPI Repair Mode, and it has been very good about restructuring my peeling nail. It stopped peeling and, after flaking off a couple of layers, has stabilized while I am growing it out. I wonder if it is at all similar to what we do with peels in esthetic work - the "peel" doesn't strip or damage, it actually rebuilds skin structure from the bottom up, sloughing off layers as it goes and after 4-6 weeks you start to notice your skin looks smoother and is less sensitive.. I've explained it to clients as if you rebuild a poorly done brick wall, making sure your cement is tight with the bricks for strength and appearance.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  11 місяців тому

      Skin works very differently from a nail plate. Nail is dead and skin is not. Skin "grows" from bottom up, a nail does not. Nail is made at the matrix and it's pushed out and rides on the nail bed.
      Peels do work as exfoliants meaning that they loosen up the top layer of skin making it shed. Some do damage the top layer which encourages new skin growth and faster cell turn over. Some peels are very aggressive like for example blue peel which is some serious 20-30% acid applied on the skin in a controlled way and that damage stimulates new collagen etc
      OPI Repair Mode works totally differently. It does not exfoliate but it helps to repair damage bonds between the keratin fibres.

    Can you do a video on how to take care of nails with acrylics? And what one should while acrylics are on and after acrylic removal to ensure nails are healthy?
    What do you recommend for nails that grow so brittle and thin with acrylics ?
    Thank you!

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Рік тому +1

      Hi Angela, this is the advice you can follow even when wearing acrylic.
      ua-cam.com/video/8LXeYtTG8OU/v-deo.html
      Well, wearing acrylic can damage the nails and when the nails are covered with acrylic you can't really condition the nails.

    Hi Anna! I’m wondering if you can make a video talking about “moisturizing” base coats. As an always-polished person, I sometimes struggle to fit in oil treatments to keep my nails at prime. It would be so fantastic if the hydrating/moisturizing claims were true and accurate so I can feel like popping on a moisturizing base coat before my manicure is doing something good, but I have a hard time telling if ingredients like ceramides (essie smooth-e, my go-to) or vitamins (A C E etc), or whatever Pentavitin, the ingredient Nail Teks touts, for instance, can survive and remain effective in all the harsh solvents & other polish ingredients. Forgive me if this isn’t the best place to ask, but I’d love your thoughts!

    I had hard gel overlays for the past two+ years taken care of by an amazing nail tech and then moved far away. I've been to 3 salons in the last 6 months where I now live and can't find 1 in this area that I can communicate with because they are all foreigners who don't speak proper English. I'm beyond frustrated as each salon has done what they think I want by filing and using dip powder to add strength. I know they've filed my nails down to likely the very last layer.... now what?!! I'm afraid my nails will tear vertically if I try to go without any product. I just don't know what to do.....

      I suggest if anybody doesn’t know how to use a hand file or e-file, even though hand file is Best to not do it and go to somebody that is trained.. but also, you can do things yourself that the train professional can let you know about which is keeping your cuticles hands moisturize pushing back the cuticle gently probably a wooden stick in the temperature of your water to use can affect your skin as well someone’s on, but I would definitely watch a lot of her videos if you want to get educated on how to take care of your nails at home, and then the rest of it, that you’re not able to do to go in to a train professional to due a workup on improving thee health of your nails 💅🏽 🫶🏾
