You're the man Oliver, keep on keeping on. As a massive Robocop fan I was suprised to check back in 20 years on to see that Robocop 2 is not so popular. Sure the original Robocop is a touch act to follow but I've never had a problem with it, imo a strong sequel.
To be fair, Robocop 3 is way better than the Reboot.

I've always had a soft spot for RoboCop 2, never really understood the hate for it, maybe because I watched it religiously as a kid and loved it. My nostalgia clouds my judgement, but regardless would love the blu Ray but don't have a region free player. Well done on the interview for the doc, that's amazing, look forward to seeing it

I understand the hate for 2 perfectly. Not only is it vastly inferior to Robocop, but it flat out spits in its face.

Jon Blasik I also have a soft sport for RoboCop 2. I understand people's criticisms of the film. But I don't think it was a train wreck by any means. I definitely think the fight between RoboCain and RoboCop at the end of the film is awesome and some of the best stop motion animation ever filmed. I heard Blomkamp is going to try to follow the original story idea of the sequel in his sequel he's working on.
It didn't feel like the first movie which is why I didn't like it. The villain was also really...cheesy and wasn't interesting. RoboCain looked more like a discount Terminator.
I had Robocop 2 on VHS as a child. I think I was a little young for it at 6, but to this day it remains one of my favorite movies. I bought a brand new VHS copy and broke the Orison seal myself. I think it is an underappreciated jem. The brain in the jar always creeped me out. I love your videos Oliver. Keep doing what you do.

I had the movie poster for 2 when I was 11...It was door size, and was so awesome!! Him coming thru the wall looked so cool in my room...I miss it!!! Great reviews.....I'm planning to get these and the first one soon!!

It would be interesting if Scream Factory will do a collectors edition of the first film, even though it's been released on blu ray before, but it's not stopped SF before when they did a collectors edition of Child's Play.
Plus it would be cool to finally have the original theatrical poster for the blu ray cover.

The first Robocop will sell under SF, as collectors would buy it to match up with the SF released sequels.
Oliver, have you thought about doing more of these, specifically with SF releases? It would be helpful to see someone discuss a lot of the specials in this manner, plus knowing about sound quality (or issues, as they have been notorious for in a few releases), sound track, etc.
You should do a retrospective on Virus. I've always really enjoyed that film. Never understood why it gets so much hate.

Picked up my copies already as II has grown on me and III has its flaws but I was very curious to hear Fred Dekker's thoughts. I'm glad that he's back with his friend Shane Black and working on the Predator sequel. Hopefully this will resurrect his career. Great job on this, Oliver. I'm interested to see more videos like this.

I think Robocop is a reasonable trilogy, but the excess violence of R2 is balanced out by the lighter tone of R3. In any case, even if R3 is rubbish, it is at least a bookend to the story to finally see OCP go bankrupt and their dream of Delta City to finally DIE. Besides, the campiness of the British villain is hilarious ("You stupid SLAG!") and the Splatterpunks are funny. Then again, I agree that the empty death of Robo's long-time partner rubbed many up the wrong way. In any case, it's all a mixed bag, all three of them. Only R1 is really iconic and quotable. I remember even Siskel and Ebert loving the first one, being offended by the second and wanting it to end by the third. And don't forget the TV series and movies, too, most of which I haven't seen, BTW.

I quite enjoyed Robocop 2 as a youngster for its ridiculous violence, but even then i knew it didn't hold a candle to #1. When i saw Robocop 3 at around 12 or 13 i was frankly disgusted with how the franchise had been fucked over. Then the year after maybe the tv show turned up. Rip Robocop.

I'm in very small minority but I love all 3 RoboCop films. I even love part 2 as much as the original. Also, I'm a huge fan of RoboCop: The Series (1994-1995)

Robocop 2 is one of the most underrated movies ever.

Might pick this up if the picture quality is decent. I got the DVD trilogy boxset really cheap a while back so I've always just had that but I got the 4K remastered of Robocop which looks great so if it's anything like that I'll probably get this. I've always really liked this film, of course it's not as clever and smart as the first, but I watch it almost as much as the original. Love the violence in the second one as well haha! Great review mate!

I'm wanting to review cult Blu Rays (the kinda stuff you get on Arrow Video or 88 Films) for my channel, but have no idea how to rip the footage! I've googled it, but can't find a proper answer. I was wondering if you could tell me how you do it for your show.

hey dude, first you need a bluray player, you can grab a potable blu-ray player with a USB connector to play into your Mac or PC. Then you need software to rip the information from the disc. Check out DVDFab.

Robocop 2 is my favorite. I love the hyper violence and epic story, the mean spiritedness, all the stuff Frank Miller brought to the script.

Side-note: I hate these movies. But I love to see how studio drama ruins movies and LOVE behind-the-scenes stuff.

I love Robocop 2, and am a bit surprised Nancy Allen agreed to do interviews, because she apparently hated the director and has said that production was one of the worst experiences of her career. And, yes, Robo 2's music fucking sucks. I'd love to see some kind of fan cut that edits in Basil Polouris's score using samples from 1 and 3.

The Blu ray is available online, but not the latest one, sadly.
I actually enjoy 3 more than 2. Was it ever explained why they didn't get Dan O'Herlihy back as the head of OCP for Robocop 3? It was so unsatisfying seeing OCP taken down but with Rip Torn oafishly in charge rather than the old man.
Region A Locked like all of SF releases. Hopefully Arrow get a hold of RC2.
I already have Robocop 2 and 3 on Blu Ray when I picked up the trilogy pack. Do you think the quality of the transfer and bonus features are worth double dipping?
I'd say so, these are the definitive versions of RoboCop 2 and 3 for special features alone, but a new transfer with an even higher bitrate than before is just the icing on the cake.
Chances are I'll be skipping 3, personally.
Kevin Striker SF's encoding is a joke. The transfer for Robocop 3 is worse than the original MGM release.

Are there any visual enchancements with the Robocop 2 and 3 Collector Editions?
I remember watching a movie on VHS when I was young called Ice Pirates. 1984 active/adventure/comedy set in the future were water is scarce. It probably doesn't hold up if I watched it now but I loved that movie back then. I haven't seen much about it on UA-cam and would love to see a review from you on it.

That's funny about the score, obviously the first film's score was the best but I thought the second film score was alright. I can't really watch the third film ever again but I'll try to listen to the score separately. Not surprised Peter doesn't want to talk about Robocop anymore, I thought he was gracious enough when discussing the remake when asked.

Boom studios has re released the Frank Miller's Robocop 2 and RvT.
Robocop 2 Collector Edition is $22.19 US and Robocop 3 Collector Edition is $22.19 US. While Robocop Trilogy is $13.96 US. Is it better getting the Robocop Trilogy or the Collector Editions seperately?

I remember the Peter Weller anti-drug psa, I remember seeing it on home video VHS when it came out before the picture, after the trailers. bazaar man, that memory was lost in the ether until I saw the spot of it in your run down of Robocop 2.

I remember hearing they made a robo 4 (cancelled very early) and there was apparently a pirate vid of cuts from the editing floor but I heard this when I was a kid and looking back I'ld say the story was probably nonsense hehe

By the way, did you know about Tim Burton's planned third Batman film called "Batman Continues?" before he got booted? It was to have actor/comedian Marlon Wayans as Robin, Robin Williams as The Riddler (Two-Face wouldn't be in the movie), and Rene Russo as Chase. And last but not least, Michelle Pfeiffer would return as Catwoman. Also, Marlon Wayans was originally planned to be in Batman Returns as well, but it got scrapped. (I don't think he was going to be the Robin superhero just yet, but just plain old Dick Grayson) The reason I'm asking is because I didn't hear any of this information on your Batman Forever Retrospective/Review.

I am looking at robocop prime directives for the first time and although it is not an excellent product it is at least a production that I never saw and I am enjoying it as a child !! my editions in bluray (trilogy pack) contains additional material only from the first, the second and third only bring trailers unfortunately), LETS HOPE FOR THE RUMORS OF A NEW MOVIE !!saludos desde argentina!!!!!!!!!!

Ed ward Eh... lol For the SciFi series it was, it was similar to the TV Series. Not having access to a lot of the rights or characters. So, you had to get "around" some of the characters and what not and where it fits in RoboLore. But, it was a little ridiculous. Lol

The music (of 2) was a travesty, the film was very dark and mean but as a huge robo fan I did enjoy it to a point. Still think they could and should have gone for a more exposing piece on the humanity of Robo in the 3rd movie (along with keeping the adult rated cert) that separated him from the failed attempts at a cyborg in the 2nd, kind of making robocop 2 a double parter storywise with a warmth to counteract the 2nd movie yet still keeping the satire and brutality of the 1st imo.
I saw Robocop 3 as a kid and loved it. (And I still do!!)

i think robocop 2 is a worthy sequel. third film is rubbish.
Robocop 3 could have worked, if they had included more cyborgs on the side of the OCP, and if they made a more open civil-war kind of thing. Robocop 2 was okay. I really dont hate it as much as most people do. It really had a too tough act to follow. Robocop 2 at least was many times better than the Robocop remake.

There is no region 2 release of these collectors editions. You will need to get your Bluray player modified to play region A titles.
