Hey all! There's been some audio issues (got a copyright slap for using a non copyright song love this) so a small chunk of the video sounds like I am speaking in a fish bowl. I apologize, I aim to have good audio quality in my vids so this is upsettio but at least I didn't have to take the whole thing down
Wow! Who woulda thought that Slovenians would say, "Bless your heart"!
BWAHAHA I'm married to a Slovenian, and hear these all the time. I now firmly believe that Slovenians just mystify themselves with their curses, so they forget that they're angry - and anyone they're cursing at is so confused, they're not sure if they should be insulted or not. Except “Pes te nima rad” - that's just hurtful LOL AWESOME video, Barbara. Now I can just giggle when the cussing begins...
now I have to back and watch it again, 300 times probably
THE SACRED NUMBER OF TIMES!!
Even in their insults, Slovenians are very kind and clever. 🤩
They must have imported Canadians to write some of these.
@@willythemailboy2 🤣
We truly are built differently hehe
these are actually quite insulting for the time they were made in and still can be
They are the Canadians of the Balkans.😊
I'm in shock. I would NEVER say some of those things, especially that one about the snails eating someone's lettuce.
VILE STUFF I TELL YOU!!
"i hope the snails eat your lettuce!" damn! felt that one. right through the heart!
That one is a brutal one!!
@@TheBarbaraHorvat Mostly because snails eat my salad even withouth somebody cursing me, LOL....
I miss my Mom.
Old school German uses the same kinds of things as curse words. My dad used to tell me about when he was a kid in the 40s living on a farm, and his grandpa would take his little flask out to the barn where he would drink and curse at the cows in German. And it would usually translate to something like "Thunder, lightning, and dead carcasses". Or "Heaven's ass has hemorrhoids like a volcano" Sounds like a fun guy.
Nooooooo, not the hemorrhoids omg :D
In brotherhood country of Slovakia (because Slovenija vs Slovensko "Slovaška" )we have some very similar and quite common used expressions:
300 hrmených = "300 thunders" - very common used like 300 hudičev
Doparoma! = means "To Perún or Parom" (slavic god of thunder), same sa Gromska strela
Nech ťa šľak trafí = exactly same as Naj te strela udari
Čert ťa ber = exactly same as Hudič te vzemi
Ani za deravý groš = means "neither for leaky penny", same as Nisi vreden počenega groša
I was in Slovenia on holiday last month, very nice country and very kind people :)
Ooofff! I'm Polish but "Naj te koklja brcne" shook me hard!
You never wanna be kicked by a hen, it's brutal 🤣
Can I just say I love Barbs acting, the way she delvers: "I'm going to teach you ways to insult somebody you think is stupid" like she was a life coach on a life coach channel, delivering health advice and tips for wellbeing ahahahaha
this was beautiful. epic even.
What a strong comment
These are some of the funniest and most epic eenśoołts I’ve ever seen / heard, gotta learn them fast - I am learning Slovene and many other languages, including Norse / Icelandic / Dutch / Norwegian / Gothic / Faroese / Danish / Welsh / Breton / Cornish etc, and I highly recommend learning them 2gether!
May the time come I never have to unleash such expressions on humanity
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 One can only hope
Slovenia must be a friendly place if the insults somehow sound funny, except maybe the devil taking you...🙂🙂
We like people, just not the people we know :D
ALL THESE insults sounds like a battle scene on Harry Potter 😂😂😂
LMAO I will never unsee it now
@@TheBarbaraHorvat 🤣🤣🤣😎👍
Have not had such a good laugh in a long time.
I read this in sarcastic voice and now I am sad :D
The young Barbara is back. Very good and funny.
Good to be back!!
In my ever growing vocabulary of swear wordsof languages I don't speak these are the most ... eh.. poetic insults.
With lots of nice animals and vegetables, too :D
Do not worry even heavier insults exist in slovenian language 😂🤣
It's a sophisticated sport in motherland :D
I'm going to use these, but only the English versions.
To add the confusion! Brilliant!
My Grandfather was Croatian. My mother told me when he became frustrated or his patience was at an end, he would raise his voice and exclaim "SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA!😮😮😮😮
Hahahah that is so funny but I can totally see how that could work :D
considering on how much we Croats swear dude must be a master of self control XD
then again we are rather innovative and everyone basically has their own repertoire of swears XD
Ja res je, nekatere žaljivke so res tako krute... tristo kosmatih medvedov !
A few are vile, most are funny! Thanks for the weapons of rage and insults! I hope the snails DON'T eat your lettuce! Love ya!
Use them wisely!
If you come to Canada and insult me in Slovenian I will understand now.😄😄😄😄😄😄
Deal!
You're so pretty every time I see you my heart dies.
a personal fave of mine is "Pas ti brado lizu!" - the dog licks your chin
Allways intresting to see. how diffrent insults are. in difrent cultrues.
I agree! I watch so many of those videos!
Im a slovenian and i flipping loved this 😂😂😂
Funny, my mother was 100% Slovenian , but when she got mad, and usually at me, it was in English and I did have the good sense to turn and run
Always run from an angry Slovenian mum!
I respect any language with that much livestock in their insults. ❤🧡💛
A true farmer's market :D
Hairy bears. Who knew that was an insult but God bless!
The worst kind of bears! 🤣
It means 300 of certain female parts.
Ooooh...man! I am excited for this video. Unfortunately at work, so will to delve into deeper later. Looking forward to using a few of these at work....
the movie spaceballs in slovenian; "OMG! they went 1000 mothers!"
I laughed out loud 🤣🤣
SCOLD ME BARBERA! I sloshed my Turkish Coffee.😢
Not the coffeeeeee 😭
Southern Slavs must be world champions in cursing and cussing.
With great boredom there come great insults!
I really missed you Barb! 😂😂 My favorites were the insults if you hate someone. “I hope you’re kids are walking backwards “ 😂😂 Looking forward to the next video 😎
Barbara, this is sooo great, many thanks for doing this video so I can show it to the ones who don't believe me! 😂 And it's true, guys, I am a Croat (Croatia is Slovenia's neighbour country) and I talked about this theme with many people from Slovenia earlier. It's fascinating even more for us here because in Croatia we do have all the real, grown-up, juicy curses you want. 😂
What about "Pismo!" :D Still can´t believe this one qualifies as a swearword...
Hahaha man, I should've included that one! It's crazy how that's a swearword yes
I braced expecting to be brutal, but I was unprepared for THIS
The suave level of brutality here is unmatched
😂 😂 I use some of them regulary, but I didn't realize how funny are they when translated 😉
hahah right? I have so much fun translating them!
Its good i found your channel again.
Definitely will go to Slovenia next year.
As a slav, it is always immesuarably entertaining for me to try hearing and reading in other slavic languages, stopping every minute like - "oh, i remember this old word! oh, and this one we say just slightly different! -oh, this sounds like my grandpa''s hometown dialect".
Super video, i subscribe. Please do more about language)😊
As a Bulgarian, I understood 1/3, didnt 1/3 and thought i did the last but it ended up meaning something else, which made me spit my tea.
Sorry for the damages hahah
Spanish opens up a world of opportunities for insults too.
Would love to hear some!
Hi Miss Barbra. !!!! As always the like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🤗. Warmest Regards from the Sunshine State of Florida 🇺🇲🌅🌞☀️🏝️. Thanks for the Information 😊
Thank you for sharing your Wisdom sweety 💓❤️❤️❤️😂❤😂😂😂😢😮😅😊😊😂😢
You are funny 😂😂😂😂😢😅😊😮😂😮😢
Very interesting, but my now-deceased relatives used to just say, "jepempti".
Jebemti is not slovenian, it's "borrowed" from croatian and means " I f*** your..." usually you would add a mother or sister to that : Jebem ti mater, jebem ti sestro. :)
Yes, that's a bit common one, it's b instead of p tho :D
@@TheBarbaraHorvat Hvala lepa. I shall correct my pronunciation.
It is "jebemti" And then it cotinues with mom, dad, sister etc., depends on how insultive you want to be...
it's "Jebemti", but that one is not Slovene it's a phrase that the Slovene people adopted from the ex Yugoslavia countries ( Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia) And it's a very rude one :D
So Spicy! Love it!
Extra 🌶🌶🌶🌶
😮!!! 😮!!! 😮!!!
good ole krazy Babs! 😁
👏👍👏👍👏👍👏💖
It's just who I am (un)fortunately
nah-ah! nisi pravkar sem šla haha! legendarno, LIKE 🤣
Hvala :')
Coming from a hot western state, I have 2 requests for translations:: Chill Your Potatoes! AND Your Potato Has Sprouts!😊
I am so lost :D Are these expressions in English or do they come from a different language?
I feel enriched ❤
I am GLAD
Moja najljubša 'kletvica' - madonaduš!!!
My grandma used to say that one 😅
Ta je pa nova haha
Jaz poznam pa porkaduš, pa porkaduš marička... al pa porka madona... ampak za to bi te že župnik za ušesa... haha...
I really have been kicked by a hen.
Me too, it's not pleasant lmao
@@TheBarbaraHorvat They like really go after you.
First time viewer and this was hilarious!
YAY I am so glad! Welcome!!
This is incredible
Bravo 👏 😂
So happy my favorite made it in … 300 hairy bears lol !!!
That one is a fan favorite it seems haha
@@TheBarbaraHorvat need to learn it b4 my next visit in May !!!
I'm pretty sure she's trying to troll us! lol
You would think, huh? :D But not this time!
I'm slovenian... nope, she is not kidding! Pa mirna Bosna!
Another Slovenian vowing that she is telling the truth... and I died laughing, haha... our ancestors were really something else....
Oj Barbara. Lepo te je videt. Nice to see you back. Have a lep dan. Žijo, bye. Rudi.
Love this!
Slovenians sure do love hundreds and three hundred LOL. Very poetic insults but phoenic pronouceiation would help :)
I'll keep that in mind for next lessons!
Well, Barbara... I am In Awe of your Expressions. I need to assimilate, now. Thank You! 🏆
You can do it!
As long as you NEVER tell someone that you hope the snails eat their cow! There’s no coming back from that one, I’d imagine.
Damn, that would've been straight up brutal!!
Cenim tvoj sarkazem 🤣
Hvala, živim za to.
Thanks!
Thank YOU!
I actually laughed out loud at some of the translations. 😂😂😂
I'm glad :D
Brilliant!
Isn't it?!
I used to occasionally get called “chudok” by my Czech-speaking relatives. Make of that what you will.
Family insults are best lmao
If that means a weirdo, than Slovene is čudAk.
What a wonderful, colourful language! Now I wish I know Slovenian. Thanks!
You're very welcome hehe
You're amazing and I love you! :). Thank you for making videos and being wonderful. Have the best day Barbara!!!!!
the kid is looking at you!? that is a very cencored way of tanslating that... i can confirm as a slovenian myself.
I feel like a lot of these are very Monte python esque,..."mother of the ox",...as opposed to.." your mother was a hamster" also "I fart in your general direction" is similar to the cow farts slur...I will have to memorize some of these for my upcoming court litigation.😂
OH MY GOD someone should make a movie out of it!!
@@TheBarbaraHorvat well...my initial court date is February 8th, you're more than welcome to attend! 😄
Nice
Z'best! Naj dodam še izraz, ko je k'kšna cica-maca res lepa: "Lepa k' svina!" Mogoče prou pride za naprej... 🙂
Hahaha sj res, ok zapisala sem :D
Kr fajn kompliment, haha... imet lepo svinjo v štali pomeni dobre koline, ejej....😁
I wish I could remember all of these. You made my day!
Repeat them every day and you shall keep them forever haha
Miss Barbara, you are getting better looking every year. All grown up and wow, pretty, sexy, Slovenian.
lol…my family only uses Je Bela Cesta, Klinc te Glenda, and the rest are Croatian or Italian swear words.😂😂 Moji starši so iz primorske.😁
My family uses Hungarian ones mostly. Ah, the life of living next to a border 🤣
Such an enlightening time of the day!!
I agree
as a czech i sprove this video
Phew, close one. Glad it fell through the cracks!
Dobro si opisala izraze, čeprov dobesedni prevodi težko prikažejo pravi pomen...no, vsaj v nekaterih izrazih. Drži se. 😉
Stari cajti? To se še dans uporablja! :D Sam v tapravih krogih moraš bit haha
Great to have you back! My favorite UA-camr always entertains. Missed you❤
Good to be back :)
Finally! Some education on my feed 😃📝
**VALUABLE CONTENT** :D
I missed ya' Lil Babz much
I giggled the whole way XD
Yesssssss!!! Love to read that!
Barbara lepo to za 🤫lepe kletvice da objaviš za one konkretne 🤐aja boš aja ne smeš brez cenzure mimo grede dalje tak si ok👍spoštovanje☺
Slovenians and other Slavic women from the Balkans are so lovely
I hate it when people cut the line with some feeble excuse and try to challenge me about it. I don't usually say anything for various reasons, but like, it is terrible that it happns
Super video in kako si kaj danes 😊
Odlicno, pa ti?
Super video, matr vola! 👏👏👏 Ta izraz je pogosto uporabljal razrednik v gimnaziji. 😄😄
Moja profesorica za matematiko, če si zamudil k uri: Stoj!, ker si gnoj!..... čez čas... " Sedi, ker je gnoj koristen " :D
Such a lovely language and great presenter. Hvala. In a peaceful Bosnia :)
😁😁😁😁
Oof! Blunt force insults... will life ever be the same?? 🤔
No. It has been permanently altered by this video. You're welcome.
That was quite funny.
🤯 You just joined Slavoj Žižek & the band Laibach as my favourite Slovenians!!! Awesome job! Laibach
Oh what a company!!!!
Barb, I've been watching your content for a long time and I've never heard you use such language. 😯
It's because my mom told me to not use those vile insults!!
It is always good to hear other languagess, and I must say, some are funny. Anyway, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
your welcome@@TheBarbaraHorvat
Please can you make vedio about studying in slovenia ❤
I need Slovenian friends
You left out the best ones 😂
Me thinks I included them :D
So awesome... I play in a band with a Slovenian singer (also sometimes a Slovenian drummer too) and gigs just got a whole lot more fun. But now there is a problem... we play over 100 gigs a year, and I'm going to need more material. You can only get so far with a hearty "Tristo Kosmatih Medvedov", and then I'll be expected to up my game. I'm no genius, so I won't get all of these mastered for about 6 weeks or so... but come mid-March or the beginning of April I'll need another instalment... or I'll be told that "the God does not love me". Please help.
