- So many people struggle with internal routing. Worse off than running internal shift cables is hydraulic disc brake hose. Well not really. Take a watch of how easy it is using a shift cable and ferrule to help guide the hydro line right through the inside of the frame

James - very clever! Very well presented too - concise, good camera angles. Thanks so much!
Even works on ebikes. No need to drop the motor! Top tips!
Sometimes, the most genious tricks are the most simple ones. Thanks a lot!
You're very welcome!
Thanks!
Used this trick with mechanic’s wire in place of a shift cable, to route the brake cable all the way from the chain stay through to the head tube. Worked great. Even on a Time frame with a Hambini 1-piece BB already installed.
Excellent!
Great tip James. Thank you so much.
Your Ferrule trick is a life saver!
Awesome hack/tip.. Worked a charm!
Can't thank you enough for this video! Thanks!
Very well filmed, explained and demo’d! Great video James
Thank you kindly!
Excellent video. Thank you!
The derailleur cable with the housing was the only thing that worked. It took 2 hours of fiddling with tweezers and pliers before I tried the cable and housing end trick and it took 10 mins to do one side. What a life saver.
So very clearly said and well done, thank you!
Glad you liked it
I’m glad I found this video. I’m about to go from a flat bar to a drop bar and the bike came with hydraulic calipers, and the brifters I’m going to use are compatible with mechanical brakes. I’m still going to run hydraulic but they’re cable actuated so those hoses gotta go.
So simple yet so effective- nice one 👍
Thanks 👍
That's got to be the best trick I've seen in years!
Nice!
I wish I'd watched this an hour earlier, and saved myself a lot of cursing. Thank you so much for posting this, once I tried this the cable was through in under 2 minutes.
Haha, atleast it got done.
Thanks for the tip, very helpful! 👍
Glad to help!
Thank you for solving my biggest problem of the day.
Glad to help!
Saved! Great tutorial. 2 thumbs up!!
Awesome, thank you!
Sweet work around James, thanks for taking the time. Looks about time to break out the fatbikes.
I stupidly sold mine last spring, and now there's no new ones to buy anywhere. Guess studded tires will have to go on this Trifox
Thanks a lot, you saved me hours of frustration.
I'm glad I could help!
You save me some money on a special park tool routing set..thanks so much!
Glad I could help

@@Jamesthebikeguy Thanks! Off the bike for 15 months due to injury and have been back on since August... Really like the maturation of your channel!
Nice trick
Thanks
Thanks!
Welcome!
Marvelous
Indeed
nice
Man, you’re a genius! Or maybe an engineer? 😉
Maybe
So... I won’t need this duct tape, sledgehammer, or cutting torch? 😂
Thank you for your help!!
This is brilliant! Do you ever need to add some tape over the ferrule for extra security? My stigmata has a tight bend around the BB, and I'm worried about the ferrule coming off the hose.
Smooth pressure and it won't come off. Adding tape will increase the diameter and some holes it won't fit through
Have a Turbo Levo 2019 and the cable is internally routed entirely from rear caliper to the fork head. The loosely mounted brake cable would not work cause you have to pull.
You shouldn't need to pull. Push on the break hose and only lightly tug on the cable to help guide the hose
Where can I buy that “housing cap”?
Local bike shop would probably give one to you. They come with every cable set, bulk or even spares with a ton of shifting related bike parts.
Did you get the trifox post and saddle?
No I did not.
@@Jamesthebikeguy I ordered them for my beater bike, I hope they dont snap
Can you do sick tricks on the bike?
How do you do it when somebody removed the hose?
send the shift cable through with a magnet
This technique sometimes work except when the cable housing end cap is too large a diameter to fit into the holes in the frame. Then what????
You throw out the bike...
But really, then you just use a seal pick. Lots of way to do internal cable housing.
brilliant method without having to buy a routing kit
Glad I could help!
Too late for me 😂 lost the guide cable. 😢😅
Time to use a magnet
Buuut what if I excitedly ripped out my old hose and have nothing in my frame? 😆 Really didn't think this would be so difficult
My son got so excited his new brakes were here, he did the same thing. And now he wants me to fix it. 😂
You can skip the acting we just come for the know how great video otherwise - thanks
