I would gladly pay for a tutorial video or book of Scott discussing his process and painting one of his masterpiece waves. His work is by far the best I have seen, and I have been looking at wave painters on youtube all the time for the past year. It has been 5 years, I hope Scott can find time again to post on his UA-cam channel.
+Lucas Salvatore Hi Lucas - thanks for your comment - yes I am just learning my way around youtube today! My website developer set this up for me a long time ago...Yes I am currently producing a training series - please go to www.painttheocean.com to register and spread the word for me :) Thanks again, Scott
Been following your example for more than 10 years. And it has helped me understand my current location NewAlbany IN ( Est. 1813 ). KEEP UP THE FUN OF ART! From Nathan Cowan ( Staring Artist, waiting to bloom )
THESE ARE SOOOOOO BEYOND BEAUTIFUL AND AWESOME..... I wish I had both the money and space and opportunity to buy several of his paintings.... I just love these!!!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful God given talent and love for His creations with all of us, sir!!!! SUCH A BLESSING!!!!!!!
Parabéns!!! Amei tuas telas!
When i lived in Byron i went to a gallery in the mall behind the Top Pub Hotel and it was there that i first saw this artwork. Absloutely amazing brushwork and detail .
from the beginning my jaw dropped, i already love art that's why I'm here looking at art, but i didnt expect for it to jump out into my eye this way! but this can bring ego...
I am right there with you Lucas. I too have been searching for a painter who could teach me how to paint waves. There are so many different styles out there and I tend to be very picky. Scott your waves look so realistic and very inviting and I also would truly love it if you could do a tutorial for those of us who are admirers of your work. I have been dabbling in oil painting for over the past 6 years and I still consider myself a beginner. I would like to know how you began to paint and how you learned to paint. Did you take classes or go to school to learn? Is there any advice you could give to us beginning artists?

while what you say is true, its not about capturing it the way it is, in real life but the the way he wants us to see it.. hence its perfect. art is art, not a photo, so the same rules cant apply.
Hi Nikola, I think if your colours and tones/values are accurate - you will succeed in gouache or any other medium. however oil paints give you the advantage of long drying times to perfect smooth blended colour transitions - which is of great benefit when painting the ocean :)
-.- i'm telling you people can't do anything without critics... he makes money off his paintings. aint hurting no one. leave his style of art alone. if you can do better then do it other than that hush.
I just don't understand how all these artists can make paintings look like a photo, are a lot of them cheating, doing digital? how do they do it,,, im just an a self taught painter who cant even get a wave right grrr :)
LOL This is an incredibly difficult market to make a living in - most people would rather buy a $10 print (mass produced in China) from the local Red Dot store than invest in local talent. And we don't know the background...the video could have been created for the purpose of embedding on a website.
Meh... Alankingwells are better if your going for realism. But these are great too. I just really hate the idea of an artist selling copies of there paintings. If your gonna print out a painting. May as well just print out the real picture of the picture you painted it from. So don't call this a painting when I cant see paint on a canvas. Artist these days crack me up. Afraid to sell there own original work.

Does this guy do tutorials??? :0
i wouldnt call this photorealistic, the style is somehow actually quiet cartoonish. or maybe the colors i dont know. but really nice paintings
Yes, I know what you mean. They're beautiful, but in no way photo-realistic. Their flavor seems to have more of a Walt Disney-style idealism to me.
