@@chrisandsara had a few friends that used to be stationed in that area and they said it looks how you'd imagine Santa's village in the North Pole to look.
Been traveling to WA for the past 10 years, either with my best friends, my partner, or just myself. Leavenworth is always a stop for me. Usually travel ~April-ish and hitting the bars and restaurants at night is always fun. Also some drunken late night goat pets are always in order
I went to summer camp just outside of Leavenworth in the early 60's. It was not the wonderful Bravarian Village that it is now. I have been very lucky to see it change and grow over the years. Thanks for shining a spotlight on a beautiful place in Washington State.
FYI Leavenworth also has a small ski area and lodge plus inner tubing. Ice sculpting competition. Art in the park pole dancing may fest parade. Also Leavenworth use the be known for big ski jumping tournaments of there 90 meter ski jump less then. 1/4 mike out of town. People all over the world were invited to competition this jump for a tournament of the best of the best. People trained in for the tournament . Leavenworth didn’t have a lot of hotels back then so they were house among local for places to stay. It was one of the most amazing events to attend all the way around. The hill still resides the at Leavenworth ski course called BAKKE HILL. Been an interesting town for years. Just a few memorable thing I’ve attended and enjoyed remembering about the little town called LEAVENWORTH. Thank for listening. Sincerely Tracy
Love Leavenworth! Whitewater rafting is great, no helmets but wetsuits definitely required (and provided). I’ve done it twice and would go again in a heartbeat!
If memory serves, Leavenworth was a logging town and after the tree-huggers got the mills to shut down, the locals needed something to keep the town alive, so they converted the whole town into a Bavarian Village.
I lived in Everett and Bremerton, Washington for 3 years and I never visited Leavenworth. I am planning to go back to move back to Everett, Washington. I plan to visit Leavenworth once I return back to Washington.
As someone who used to work in Leavenworth- you missed going to the cheesemongers shop.. they literally used to have cows and goats out back… Also, Sleeping Lady and seeing Dale Chihuly glass works is just a few miles from downtown Leavenworth.
What a great little town. Like the Epcot Germany pavilion only bigger! Iceland is more than I can handle but I hope your trip is great. Looking forward to content from there!
I love going to Leavenworth! Next time you’re back in Washington, come and visit Poulsbo - it’s a ferry ride across Puget Sound from Seattle. It’s a mini version of Leavenworth but all Norwegian-themed. Maybe you’ve driven by on your way to the ferry before. There’s lots of great shops and restaurants and we’re only a short drive from the Olympic Peninsula. Happy travels! 🚐
Have y’all been to Winthrop Washington? Or Ballard Seattle Washington? I’d like to send an invitation to Ballard Seattle’s oldest fishing town! Come to Pcc Natural Market enjoy some great food! We have a guest suite in the Ballard Public Lofts! Love to have y’all come stay!
The Iceland trip itinerary looks sweet. Just note that the cost adjustment of stuff is steep cause it's an island. So the airport duty free is the place to get booze. The grocery stores w/ the pig icon are worth visiting. The midnight sun is real, so bring an eye mask. Their ice cream is superb and seemed to be a late night thing to have in Reykjavik: Valdis at the harbor closes at 11pm. The fermented shark is an ammonia bomb. The water (shower/tap) will smell like sulfur at first, but if you let the water sit uncovered, it will taste great in 10 minutes.
I love Leavenworth! Next time you are there go check out the reindeer farm! It’s amazing! Also their summer theater does The Sound of Music at the old ski hill. Lake Wenatchee is close by and you can rent kayaks and paddle boards.
I did a four day trip to Iceland in 1967. At that time, very quaint with nice, beautiful people. Fish at every meal. I would only go in July, Aug or early Sept. by 4th week in Sept, weather was pretty icky.
Yes a great town Leavenworth is beautiful and has one of the nicest golf courses I've played on the moment you enter you feel like your in a European town with the mountain tops in the background I've been there several times well worth visiting it.
I live only an hour way Frankenmuth! December is nuts in Frankenmuth. I recommend early January. Would love to show you guys around with our St.Bernard!
Yes, an annual pilgrimage to Leavenworth for the holidays was a tradition while I lived in Seattle. Maximum kitsch but so fun. Iceland…go on…i’m listening. 🤔
The Andreas Keller restaurant is very good and has cool vibes. It's downstairs and there's usually live music or dancing going on down there (at least when I've been)
Can I just say that this is the cutest, but somehow creepiest town in America? 😂 The views here look incredible! Also, I love the fact that you guys out subtitles on Kramer!
Great little town. On a smaller scale check out Helen Georgia. Iceland is a little ambitious for us but would really enjoy the workshop. Have you ever considered doing a work shop in your home town of Chattanooga . You could do the work shop and some sights around town. Keep the group small and do it a couple times a year.
Thank you! I haven't been anywhere since covid started and it's great to live vicariously through you! I could of swore I saw Allison and Eric's (The Endless Adventure) RV Clementine at 6:30. 😂
As a German living in Northern Germany I think it’s funny to see you explore „German“ things that are in fact just Bavarian things 😄 Bavaria must be very impressive to the rest of the world, considering that Germany is often reduced to Bavarian looks and traditions 😄 don’t be disappointed if you ever visit the rest of Germany which doesn’t look like Bavaria at all! 😄
I can understand his comment. Kitch is fun but you don't want your WHOLE country to be stamped as that! We (or at least I) don't want all of US to be thought of as like Disneyland!
Bavaria and Hesse were the US occupational zone post-WWII, so they were the first places returning GIs thought of when thinking about Germany. Eventually a lot of those veterans got film and television jobs and the rest is history.
Agreed. I am Brazilian/Canadian living the USA. Most people outside Brazil 🇧🇷 think Rio de Janeiro represents Brazil 🇧🇷 it doesn't. The rest of Brazil 🇧🇷 is different from Rio de Janeiro. Also most people outside Canada 🇨🇦 think Toronto, Ontario represents Canada 🇨🇦 but it doesn't. Canada 🇨🇦 is very different outside Toronto.
I live in Western Washington and have been through there many times with my skoolie. Tons of fun things to do in the area, but the town itself really isn’t my thing. Having said that, I’d love to visit there around Christmas.
I have two similar places for anyone who liked this but can’t get to the West Coast: Berne, IN and Helen, GA. Berne is not kitschy, but Helen fits the bill.
I always look forward to my Sundays with Chris, Sara, & Kramer…btw, feel free to drop Kramer off here, Zoé & Zeus won’t mind. Y’all can fly out of Washington Dulles on your way to Iceland
@@chrisandsara Oh, and I forgot to mention Mount Horeb, Wisconsin! It’s very Norwegian centric and is the “Troll Capital of the World!” It’s a tiny town, but there are great Norwegian shops and there are carved wooden trolls - of all sizes - everywhere you look!
So we are about to go. Are they requiring masks still? I mean, lots of courts are blocking Bidens mandates so I am hoping the masks will be optional or gone in time for our summer vacation.

It definitely was! Thank you for watching!

As someone who used to work in Leavenworth- you missed going to the cheesemongers shop.. they literally used to have cows and goats out back… Also, Sleeping Lady and seeing Dale Chihuly glass works is just a few miles from downtown Leavenworth.

Leavenworth, WA is delightful. Cross-country skiing up Icicle Creek way is a treat, as is so much of the area. Good for you, guys!
It was so fun!

Watch live cams sometimes and the film " someone i use to know" brought me to this place lol would love to visit there
I live in the capital of Bavaria, Munich. Nice town, but there is no comparison to the original O'Fest that takes place here in Munich.
I visited Munich years ago and wondered if there was some sort of building ordinance there. 5 story buildings as far as you could see.

We'd love to do that, we may have to go back someday for that!

Defiantly should hit up Frankenmuth MI! Really awesome tourist trap sadly no mountains like that in the back...
We will have to add it to our list!
I hear there is a nice walk along the Wenatchee River, also.
Looks pretty epic.
it was pretty awesome!
I knew Iceland would be the winner, fyi I rode horses 200 miles around the glacier pushing a herd of 60, staying in mountain huts along the way…
Very cool!
I was coming down from Chelan and should have visited, but I was a stinky backpacker... maybe next time.
Do you know how to get there if I don’t want to drive? Which is the closest big city?
The closest big city would be Seattle!
Would love to go to Iceland with you!!!
That’s a cool spot I need to visit there
We definitely recommend visiting!

Yes! Definitely the same kind of thing. :)
Y’all should go to New Glarus, Wisconsin. It’s a Swiss town!
Oh how fun!! I've never heard of Glarus but visiting a little piece of Switzerland would be so cool! I'll add it to our map, now. :)
And the biggest draw is New Glarus Brewery which has some of the best beer around and you can only buy it in Wisconsin.
