If you want to get the best legendary gems the most efficient way without grinding for hours upon hours is to simply save all of your platinum and wait for people to start putting them on the auction house, and if you decide to buy eternal orbs at any point don't spend them on legendary crest's, instead spend your eternal orbs on platinum and just buy the legendary gems you want already maxed out, I found this to be the easiest, and most p2w aspect of the entire game, it allows you to buy as many maxed legendary gems as long as you can find them available in the auction house, but will cost you either a lot of money, or a lot of time spent grinding, but is still better than grinding crest's if you do want the fastest method of getting maxed legendary gems for free. The bottom line if you plan on being f2p, is to simply play and have fun, don't try to be competitive because you will not succeed in doing so unless you buy microtransactions.

You could buy a legendary crest weekly with Hilts too. Also the only event that we saw gave 2 extra. Also all the damage doesn't come from base atributes, there are a couple other sources, so the 300% extra damage is a bit misleading. Good guide.

As a pro Diablo player aiming to provide coverage for this game, have you planned to spend up to a predefined limit you're comfortable with and do the best one can within the confines said limit allows, or will you go all in because that's your business? Personally, I love the game but resent the idea of comforting Blizzard into the idea that predatory mtx are the way forward (let alone for the Diablo franchise!).

If you found soulshards in s26 then finding them is a bug. Bc they were supposed to take them out of the game. There is a few that can drop from events. But the ones from last season supposed to be gone

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but how did you preorder this game when it's free? There is nothing to preorder, it's completely free to play. There may be something I am missing about this, I haven't paid much attention to this game specifically because of the free to play/pay to win mentality a lot of these games have. I love Diablo, still play D3, but I am on the fence and suspicious of any game that is free to play.

It's my understanding you don't find the gear piece with three stats, you awaken the gear with a rank ten Legendary gem and it gets a third stat added to it. I only have a rank 9 gem as of this moment so I can't confirm yet.
I can confirm triple stat legendaries are out there for sure and pretty rare at that. Atm I think I have 3 and all came from different sources such as bounties, bestiary, contracts, vendor etc. Anecdotal tip for anyone who sees this, I’ve had 35% magic find for a few weeks now and haven’t noticed any better drops than when I had 0% so don’t stress over getting magic find over beneficial stats/bonuses from gems. This is just my experience so don’t take it as an absolute but i think volume is the best bet like raxx mentioned. If standard magic find is already very low (I.e. 5% or less), magic find won’t really change much. Also AFAIK, magic find isn’t fully appreciated in terms of how it works beyond the provided description, I may be wrong through.
Then don't play the game, as simple as that. The rest of us will be enjoying it the new experience. Also diablo 2, and 3 are both technically p2w as well since you can literally just buy the best items instantly from third party websites for both games.
I am up to the challenge and as long as we have a fair chance after a year of two of grinding to earn some 5 star gems, then perfect, I might drop a few $, 20-30$ from time to time (every 2-3-4 months) then ok, but if it's going to be a heavy pay to win, I will surely lose interest after a little while. We need to speak with our wallets and the content creators will have the biggest responsibility... if they pay big and push like crazy, then they will only be part of the problem and either it will encourage others to do the same or who knows it might serve as the opposite effect and it will prevent other from having to fulfill themselves and get that by following the live feeds and videos. Bottom line I think we need to be conscious and careful how things progress.
