    I drive fuel tankers. All the fuel comes from the same terminals. The only thing that differs between them is the additives. Costco fuel is delivered to their forecourts with no additive as they add their own on site during the delivery. No two batches of fuel are the same. The density changes daily. Tesco tankers load at the same terminals as Shell and every other brand of fuel. It's pretty much all the same. The basic fuels are Diesel, Unleaded and Super Unleaded. These will be with no additive or additive depending where it's going. If you have a diesel car and only do short journey's avoid supermarket fuel as it has no additive in it and your dpf filter will clog up.

I’ve not got to the end of the video yet but I’ve heard tuners before saying about some tanks at stations not being clean and having water in them. The 1 on Oldham road is newly rebranded as shell from Texeco so maybe the tanks have had a clean to swap from the 97 to 99 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Very interesting. I have a completely untestable theory that I'm currently testing.
    Modern direct injection engines clog up because people use low RON supermarket fuel. By using V Power (high RON and cleaning additives), my valves will live a long and prosperous life!
    Or maybe I'm talking total crap and wasting money.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Рік тому

      Unfortunately that’s not the main why they clog up on direct injection petrols. It’s due to the fact that the breather, and egr valves basically blow crap back through the intake. Older indirect injection engines did this tooC however the petrol was sprayed in behind the inlet valves and was very effective at washing them off.
      On another note, I’ve heard of people that run water injection on diesels, that also keeps the inlet valves very clean. I’ve considered fitting it to my Beemer, just to clean the valves tbh.

    My experience with Shell V Power in Australia has been very ordinary. I will not go to shell.
    I have put their 98 in my Falcon twice, the first time was a top up, half tank, car ran badly, second time was in a different city on a long trip and the car also ran badly.
    BP Ultimate on the other hand always runs nice. Not a good company, but that fuel is great.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Рік тому

      In the past I’ve never really rated BP Ultimate, and always preferred Shell. This is the first time I’ve had issues with Shell, but the issue seems to have been going on for too long for it to be a one off bad fill up at the fuel station, and it’s put me off Shell. I use Tesco Excellum in the C1 since and it seems to be as good as the good batch of Shell I used for the test. For diesel I’ve been using either BP, but mainly Costco premium recently and both seem ok. Difference in diesel quality doesn’t seem as noticeable in my BMW apart from when using the standard supermarket diesel which it doesn’t seem to run a smoothly on. I think the difference is just less noticeable in the bmw during normal driving compared to the C1 because losing a couple of bhp on a car with half decent power isn’t as noticeable as losing a couple of bhp on a car where you need most of the power to drive normally though 😂

    Shell Vpower is up to 5% so it can vary. im not knocking your test methods but the 6% you got could purely be down to slight incorrect ratios, idealy you would have perfectly messured amounts and use a centrifuge to mix it up. so its quite likely your 6% was actually 5%. having said all that very interesting and informative video :)

      Not likely, they'd get fucked with trading standards/false advertising or something daft. If it's anything like the petrol station I work at (I won't say what company, but I use Momentum 😉) they have people come testing it occasionally too.
      I would imagine inconsistency is what it is, like the tuner on OG said. They will likely have it right with looking at how much performance they can get just by changing fuel.
