You're wrong. This video is spot-on. 1.The pencil of light that they are describing is assumed to be the center of the person's focus. Many other peripheral rays are obviously projected to different, peripheral parts of the retina. 2.You are very incorrect. The image projected onto the back of the retina IS inverted - simple, basic, ophthalmic optics. The brain maps the retina upside down, i.e. the inferior retina corresponds to the superior visual field. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK10944
I'm a medical student and I honestly had no idea what a red reflex was. This makes so much more sense. Thank you.

Doesn't this method assume the eye lens is relaxing at all times?
See that pupil? It's dilated by eye drops so it stops the muscles from focusing.
