Les Indes Galantes, the work of which this Tendre Amour is a part, is one of the best-known works of Rameau, in my opinion the most important of the French baroque composers. A beautiful version.

this recording is really special, the gorgeous melody and (fairly jazzy harmonics)... this one really takes my breath away and appreciate French baroque since Lully. Truly enjoyed your appreciation for this 🌹

The more I listen to William Christie's direction, the more I enjoy it.
There's also a lovely but very short duet between Lea Desandre and Sandrine Piau in this show.

Beautiful, Phil! I entered the French request dedicated to you. I won’t spoil the surprise, but you’ll probably be able to figure out what it is when Jeff publishes the next schedule update. Thank you both for an enjoyable classical Sunday.:)

@@StrateleStudios Let's contextualize the excerpt we're about to see. It's 2019, and the choir and orchestra of Les Arts Florissants, created and conducted by William Christie, are celebrating their 40th anniversary at the Philharmonie de Paris, with a host of prestigious guests (Sandrine Piau, Léa Desandre, Christophe Dumaux, Marcel Beekman, Marc Mauillon, Lisandro Abadie...)!
The concert came to an emotional close. All choristers and soloists gathered upstage to greet the audience (we recognize Lisandro Abadie, Léa Desandre - the beautiful lady in red ! -- Sandrine Piau, Thomas Dunford or Paul Agnew, co-director of Les Arts Florissants). To this end, they sang symbolically Rameau's beautiful "Tendre Amour" (because Les Arts Florissants is also a great love story between an orchestra and its audience). Written for four parts, "Tendre amour" first introduces and develops the melody, which the composer then expounds again, this time with the chorus, each voice register repeating the same words, a simple unique phrase, in polyphonic imitation: Tendre Amour, pour nous que ta chaîne dure à jamais (Sweet Love, for us may your chain last forever). The melody is ineffably touching, as is the excerpt from the video, where the emotion of the reunited musicians, somewhere between joy and nostalgia, is palpable. A great moment of Les Arts Florissants' history.

Tis a sublime performance. But one of the tenors is Paul Agnew who is closely associated with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants. How ever Agnew also performed in Rameu's La Platèe an "Opera Buffone" Conducted by Marc Minkowski I do recomend this as well.
