That is a good point AX totally needs to have directories like the kind you see at a mall for the newbies at least. However I feel like they just assume everyone will save a pic of the map on their phone or refer to the physical map that is in the magazine they put in the goodie bag. Or they assume 80% attendees are already seasoned AX goers who are already familiar with the LACC layout.
It was my first AX since 2019 so I braced myself for the worst crowding issues and lines and I also agree that their crowd control was alot better this year. I was not aware of the badge scanning issue since I was able to get in and out with no problem. Something I do think could be improved on is the line control for Day 1 since that is when people are the most excited to enter that rope drop. For people like me who had a mission to grab exclusive or limited quantity merch right at opening it was very confusing to figure out where the end of the line for South Hall was. I followed the natural flow of traffic waiting for Mahoko Gate to open but after turning the corner it would split into 2? Luckily I found a friend in line so I got to cut them but I was pretty worried I wouldn't be able to reach my Exhibit Hall booth in time. Of course when they started letting people into the con it was easier to figure out the flow of traffic to get in but for the time people have to stand around there weren't any official staff to guide and enforce the lines. This was around 8:30 AM? So yeah they should try to put in more line staff to direct the flow of traffic when it comes to pre-opening hours but it does seem like a big hassle when the lines stretch far away from the venue.
I also experienced the same problem on Day 2 to line up for the first panel at Petree Hall. After 8 AM when people were let in early there was no one regulating the Petree Hall line outdoors and no one knew how to follow the unusual tape pattern. It wasn't until 8:30 did someone finally come to the line and organize the whole crowd. So kinda similar to the Opening day problem, when pre-opening lines are not regulated it gets confusing on where to stand.

More on lining up for the very first panels of the day, I know you said you lined up for demon slayer at 4 AM (insane dedication right there haha) but I just wanted to be there around 7ish for the 10 AM panel and the closest gate to Petree Hall was the Max Gate. However I did not expect at 7ish for the Max Gate line to stretch out all the way back to South Hall. My friend who tried to find the end of the line reported that they capped the Max Gate line and told him to wait at Mahoko (South Hall) line instead. We ended up lining up at the next best line which was the Kisegi Gate which wraps around Crypto Arena and leads into the West Hall entrance. Then when the line started moving we spedwalk to the outdoor line. Didn't really make much of a difference in terms of my panel seating placement but I definitely underestimated the Max Gate line
