This first struck me as like a mid-19th century piece that may be slightly antiquated, but she did much of her composing in the late 18th, so this was actually peak innovation for the time which is quite impressive, she was writing nocturnes before Chopin was even born, that's actually crazy!!
Merci pour cette merveilleuse performance. Je ne savais pas grand-chose de cette compositrice, mais sa vie et sa musique méritent certainement d'être étudiées plus avant. Je chercherai certainement à faire découvrir sa musique à mes élèves.
You do realize... Montgeroult lived in the same timeline as Mozart? This literally sounds like Czerny.... or John Field Sonatas. It's really amazing. So much innovation and invention for a pianist of this age

Nice recording !
Remarkable...I might have guessed, early Beethoven ? Czerny ? No, ornaments too early in style. Really good !
Thank you a lot!
Lovely sonata movement played quite well. Thank you for sharing this performance :)
Interesting but not much significance

@@elwachus When she died Czerny was 45; John Field died a few months after her. I did just realize.
She was literally a teacher at the Paris Conservatoire
