David's talent comes from the anointing of God. He's designed specifically for this purpose, for people to hear him and say "Wow. Only God can do that." What you were feeling was the Spirit of God speaking to you.
David has the gift of really believing and feeling what he is singing, it becomes real to him. That is why even people who know him react emotionally when he sings, that and the pure beauty of his voice. As Christians we would say he is anointed, that is God uses him to draw people to Himself. Your reaction is so pure. David Phelps is considered one of the best Tenor singers in the world. So, Bill and Gloria Gaither are the ones that put this concert and a lot of concerts together. The choir is made up of all gospel artists. Some solo and some groups but all come together a few times every year to put on a gospel concert. Through the concert, different singers and groups will come up and sing and sometimes like this one the entire group will stand and sing with the solo artist. David Phelps is almost always at these concerts since he is so popular and everyone knows his talent and how hard he works everyday to keep and improve his voice but it is still shocking. I know...I have seen him live 11 times live from the front row, met him and his family multiple times and have been to his home for two barn bash events in Tennessee as well. I had to watch this again, to see you folks again. Your appreciation for this beautiful song and passionate delivery moved me greatly. Of course, they practiced. David made decisions on how to perform to bring out the best in the song. I understand that David told the painist to just follow along sometimes, and I think this might have been one of the times. The pianist was a wonderful musician, and a man who loved the Lord. What you heard from these folks (who sometimes travel with the Gaithers to perform), are mostly great singers and love the Lord. David himself is a devout man, and these folks were sending praises to God and it was their love for the Father and the Son that shined on their faces. All the people with the Gaither Homecoming Concert are very talented in their own right. Bill and Gloria have brought them together for years to share God's Glory. David is one of those special people who was from a musically active family and was classically train at Bailor University in Texas, but beyond that he has a soul full of dedication to God and has been rewarded and gifted from God to sing his praises. There are many fantastic recordings of singing solo, with the Gaither Vocal Band, with his daughter, with other members of the Gaither Homecoming Series , and with his own group. He converted the barn on his property into a performing and recording stage that many of these talented people have performed at. He okso has recorded classical, operatic, and secular music and even 23 years after this recording was done, he is still phenomenal

All of the singers in the background are famous gospel vocalists in their own right. This was like a big performance with everyone doing individual numbers. Gaithers go for the absolute best and have for years. Bill Gaither the man at the end, standing near David and his wife Gloria have written so many famous old hymns like hundreds and hundreds of them that are sung in churches every Sunday. There's a song David sings with his 17 yr old daughter Maggie Beth that he wrote with Bill gaither's wife. It's phenomenal even if gospel music isn't your thing. They sang together with the Gaither Vocal Band and Mark wrote Mary Did You Know. The acapella group Voctave features Mark Lowry singing the song he wrote and it is so incredibly moving and beautiful. These are people of immense faith !! I truly believe David's voice is anointed by God....he was placed on this Earth to sing praise to God Almighty. If you wish to hear David again, his live version of his original song "Heaven's Shore" is very much worth reacting too.

One does not have to be "Religious" to enjoy Religious Music. I LOVE Some Old School Hyns that have stood the test. Like "How Great Thou Art. Some where rotting away forgotten in nursing homes. Check out their homecoming specials. I cry because it was their music that gave my grandpa comfort when he was dying.

I am pretty certain all attendees are Christ followers & yes ( ! ), it IS a family, open for all whobwould accept Jesus as THEIR Lord. There is a video where they just had an at home informal Christmas gathering w/current and previous singers and someone was recording on their phone. Many were very old and it was an opportunity to just get everyone on camera. At first they're all talking about their families & pets, etc. Laughing at memories, things like that. About 1/3 of the way through one of the elders asks if those around him remember an older song. None did so he started saying what the lyrics were about then hummed a few notes he remembered. Then one asked if he was talking about a certain refrain and someone across the room said he thought that song was such & such and casually - not in professional voice - sang a few words. The old man said yes. Then someone said I know that one & again casually sang through the chorus. Pretty soon the room was singing it & those who didn't know it just joined in on the chorus! After that, it was one song after another - all in casual voice. No one realized they were being filmed until after the party when the guy filming sent it to Gaither! They had so much fun and it was amazing how great they sounded when not even trying! Many in that video have since passed away, so it will always be a cherished video for all who were there. ❤

All the people with the Gaither Homecoming Concert are very talented in their own right. Bill and Gloria have brought them together for years to share God's Glory. David is one of those special people who was from a musically active family and was classically train at Bailor University in Texas, but beyond that he has a soul full of dedication to God and has been rewarded and gifted from God to sing his praises. There are many fantastic recordings of singing solo, with the Gaither Vocal Band, with his daughter, with other members of the Gaither Homecoming Series , and with his own group. He converted the barn on his property into a performing and recording stage that many of these talented people have performed at. He okso has recorded classical, operatic, and secular music and even 23 years after this recording was done, he is still phenomenal

All of the singers in the background are famous gospel vocalists in their own right. This was like a big performance with everyone doing individual numbers. Gaithers go for the absolute best and have for years. Bill Gaither the man at the end, standing near David and his wife Gloria have written so many famous old hymns like hundreds and hundreds of them that are sung in churches every Sunday. There's a song David sings with his 17 yr old daughter Maggie Beth that he wrote with Bill gaither's wife. It's phenomenal even if gospel music isn't your thing. I'll leave a link
.I'd love to see you react to this one. David is so easy to find in concert and tickets are like $35 which is amazing. We've seen him twice. You'd love it. It is mostly gospel. He'd be worldwide famous if he wasnt singing gospel but he's stuck with it which is cool because you felt the wonderful ministry he is.

I actually already recommended this on your Voctave reaction to O Come All Ye Faithful… but the gentleman behind him in the end in red and black is Mark Lowry. They sang together with the Gaither Vocal Band and Mark wrote Mary Did You Know. The acapella group Voctave features Mark Lowry singing the song he wrote and it is so incredibly moving and beautiful. Mark sings it in a way that no one else can ❤

These are people of immense faith !! I truly believe David's voice is anointed by God....he was placed on this Earth to sing praise to God Almighty. If you wish to hear David again, his live version of his original song "Heaven's Shore" is very much worth reacting too.

One does not have to be "Religious" to enjoy Religious Music. I LOVE Some Old School Hyns that have stood the test. Like "How Great Thou Art. Amazing Grace" We can also Appreciate a very gifted voice. No matter What people say, especially regarding "God and the Holy Spirit". I get that feeling when i Hear Dimash. Dimash does not sing this type of music. Appreciation of a truly trained and talented voice does not mean "God" is moving through you, that is spoken with hubris and arrogance. Deanna Durbin also had a truly talented voice. So did Willie K and people do not even KNOW who he is.

You folks are precious. David did sing in the Gaither Vocal Band, and those other folks are called Gaither's Homecoming Friends. They are true believers, and almost all of these are professional singers and musicians in mostly gospel music. David Phelps has been said to be the best, and among the best tenors in the world. He has a great voice and is a devout Christian. These folks come from different backgrounds but all profess to be God's people. If you get a chance, get No more Night and Let Freedom Ring. The people sitting behind them are gospel singers. Many oh whom are from the 50’s and 60,s. Bill and Gloria found them and brought them out of retirement. Some where rotting away forgotten in nursing homes. Check out their homecoming specials. I cry because it was their music that gave my grandpa comfort when he was dying.
The Spirit of God moved in the audience. They more than likely were given the go ahead to join in. I am pretty certain all attendees are Christ followers & yes ( ! ), it IS a family, open for all whobwould accept Jesus as THEIR Lord. I personally know listeners at home who stood up to honor and praise God and weep with joy. Read the lyrics to the song. Let them speak.

It was organic and not rehearsed. Christian churches in America experience this all of the time. We acknowledge this moment as "the anointing". It's when we sense God's presence in our worship unto Him!

There is a video where they just had an at home informal Christmas gathering w/current and previous singers and someone was recording on their phone. Many were very old and it was an opportunity to just get everyone on camera. At first they're all talking about their families & pets, etc. Laughing at memories, things like that. About 1/3 of the way through one of the elders asks if those around him remember an older song. None did so he started saying what the lyrics were about then hummed a few notes he remembered. Then one asked if he was talking about a certain refrain and someone across the room said he thought that song was such & such and casually - not in professional voice - sang a few words. The old man said yes. Then someone said I know that one & again casually sang through the chorus. Pretty soon the room was singing it & those who didn't know it just joined in on the chorus! After that, it was one song after another - all in casual voice. No one realized they were being filmed until after the party when the guy filming sent it to Gaither! They had so much fun and it was amazing how great they sounded when not even trying! Many in that video have since passed away, so it will always be a cherished video for all who were there. ❤
