It seems that the usefulness of polyrhythms has always been questioned. It’s as if musicians are waiting for a time period when polyrhythms will become acceptable to use other than only for special occasions. The goal for this show is to demonstrate that it is not only possible, but advantageous to have a nearly constant flow of polyrhythms from beginning to end.
The show has a safe structure of an Intro/Opener, Ballad, Drum Break, and Closer. The music begins by building slowly and indecisively, attempting several styles before establishing a full decision towards the end of the Opener. Pit helps uncover a unique, emotional melody. Drum Break is packed with varying styles and is very musically expressive. As with the Intro, the Closer starts with some captivating layers. Repeated and modified several times during the Closer is that same curious melody found in the Ballad. The energy of the group is continually increased proven by the tempo markings, the number of “f’s” on the page, and the amount of ink per square inch.

HO-LY FUCK. That was great. Not only was it beautifuly written, but the freaking video. Jesus Christo. Very good stuff.
I did spend quite a few hours to get it this way, so thank you for appreciating the look of it!
This video is SO DAMN FUNNY
So intricate. The battery feature is intense.
+Adam Holm Thanks for the comment! Be sure to listen to the rest of the show! Movement 3 is all battery/rhythmic. ;) Link is in the description!
+Eric Peel Music Yeah, that's what the comment was meant for. Your stuff is helpful when I get writer's block.
+Adam Holm Ah, well thanks for coming back to youtube to comment about the feature. I'm glad my writing can help your creativity!
Hello Mr. Peel! I see that you do have some synth in this show. How would you go about putting synth into the file you are currently working on? I actually need quite a bit of synth in the show that I am creating and every time that I put in synth of any kind (from Sibelius sounds), the playback sound defaults to a piano. I have tried absolutely everything, like manual sound sets, etc. but to no avail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Our school played altitude wellness last year, hoping to play this show this year! It's intense, it's awesome, it's epic.
I look forward to seeing a recording of your school playing it!
Sounds amazing. The name is very advantageous when it comes to show design. Love it
Has anyone played this yet?
Yes, several groups have. My favorite recording will always be featured on my website. Click the link in the description for the "Time for Polyrhythms" page to be taken there and scroll down to see the video! Thanks.

Bass drums sound different. Still VDL Bassline?
Yep, still VDL. Just tuned up a few half-steps to sound more like indoor basses. And quads are 1 half-step up.
How do you tune the drums up? That sounds awesome. :)
Eric C. W. Peel Yes how do you tune the drums up?
@106233875565371897076 Go into the instrument and tune it up via the plugin. There is an easily-located knob called "Tune" on every instrument.
Eric C. W. Peel How do I get VDL? Is it free? And how do I do the whole plug-in things? I'm obviously not a computer person at all.
That piece is so much fun! Thank you.
Thanks man!
Looks and sounds great!
Thanks! I'm happy you think so!
Eric C. W. Peel Are you planning on making any more videos for the rest of the show?
Shades No. :( But the good news is that I have some pretty ambitious projects I'll be releasing this year! Some of them including recordings of myself playing on a new and very special instrument! First one of those should be in less than a couple weeks :)
Eric C. W. Peel Cool! I can't wait to see it!
Shades Thanks for your patience.
Makes me really miss drumline :/ Sounds great though man!
