- We waited to announce the June custom as a Happy Birthday present to America! What better way to celebrate America's birthday week than to introduce our Sopmod Block II M4A1 Clone rifle! @@yeshua1176 You can build any of DD's rifles for a fraction of the cost. You can build any AR for a fraction of the cost of a pre-built. Why do manufacturers even make pre-builts? Because people buy them. And people would buy clones if they were offered all the time. FN has done well with their clone M4 and M16A4.

This should be a staple - always in stock but maybe built in several large batches. I also like the same rifle with the front sight mounted on the barrel.

Great inspired "near clone" for a reasonable price. If I didn't have perfect Colt ones with proper SOPMOD Gen 1 non QD stocks, 4 prong flash hiders and all properly marked Colt parts, I'd buy this in an instant. Then again this is about 1500 dollars less than those builds.

Anthony I mean DD is about the only company I’d give a pass to due to both RIS II and COTS contracts, but definitely not perfect.
B5 got the contract so the block iis are being ship out with gen 2's also DD now sends socom complete rifles

Jim Ross is awesome!! Burst customer service I have ever had from ANY gun company ever thanks Jim for taking care of me and helping me get my rifle squared away.
I'm still amazed these rifles at the price point and there still using a crappy a2 grip.but all things being equal Daniel defense is a first rate outfit and I love there omega rail, a little spendy but exudes quality through and through.

I feel your pain. I’m also an MD resident and I was quick enough to get this in my shopping cart but unfortunately DD wouldn’t ship it to MD. I’ll have to find an FFL in NoVa so I’ll be ready next time around.
@@danielv5756 brownells has this exact DD upper in stock right now, sans BCG or flash hider, for $899. I jumped on one! Put together the remaining rifle with quality stuff for about $600. Threw a SOLGW LPK and an ALG QMS trigger and called it a day.

I used to own one of these...smooth smooth shooter than most of those gucci slim rail mid-gas guns. Great design

If the internals are full auto with the exception of the sear... go ahead and take my money.
I doubt it’s got the true m16 cut lower which is necessary for the true auto sear. DD only does low shelf for civilians and not the m16 cut.

I'm glad i built my clones when i did. I built a fsp,& non fsp block 2 each for about the same amount of money. That includes the eotech su/233(553), & insight su231(m3x) with dual pressure pad, tango down vert grips, cqd front/rear sling attachments, b5 government over run sopmod stocks, knights 99051 front sight in taupe. The other of course has the front sight post that came on the colt 14.5" socom barrel. Also, used colt 4 position buffertube. I did save a bunch with the lower using psa m4a1 marked lowers,& yes i did go with the surefire sf3p instead of the 4 prong. Used franklin binary trigger, so i could have the 3rd position selector. Plus it's just cool. If i added it all up it came out to $2500- 2700 each. That's with paying $ 445 for the ris 2 non fsp from Daniel defense. The fsp version i bought was still in the foil saved over $150 on it. There's no way i could build them at that price now. All the parts are getting harder to find,& more expensive. Not to put DD down, but the only clone correct thing on this is the rail.

They’ve got the uppers in stock on Brownells. Once you get it pinned and welded with an extended A2 flashider to 16 you are good to go in MD.

Not surprising, given that the RIS II FSP rails are no longer being purchased by the SOCOM components that used to issue them (e.g. the Green Berets). Also, if Jim Ross and his team were going for a clone of what he had in the 75th Ranger Regiment, then the RIS II non-FSP is the correct version; the Regiment has been using that version since 2009-ish, and not the RIS II FSP that the ODAs use(d).
