I watched these back ash wards, since I watched part 2 first. Kinda like having dessert before your meal. Looks good so far. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets blanks stuck on a wood worm screw! Getting ready for Part 2.
After this one got stuck on the woodworm screw, I used a 24" clamp to hold the chuck on the lathe so I could two-hand off the screw - that will be my go-to method in the future. Thanks for watching, Tom.

Use a mortise instead of a tennon, you won't waist as much wood !!!
Six of one, half dozen of the other. I alternate between using tenons and recesses for chuck mounting, usually on a multi-year basis. I've never decided which is best, although I'm leaning toward tenons forever. Using a recess only saves wood if you want to keep the recess for some reason, which I don't.
What? No termite tool? Heading over to part 2 now.

Actually, I did use the termite tool on the exterior, but I cut that clip out as the video was getting too long.

I very rarely do spindle turning. I did fairly recently do a couple of vases, which are essentially spindle turning, and I plan to do more vases in the future. Thanks for watching and for your comments, Japie.
