    I live in an area in Mexico that has Military Parrots and Guacamayas. The area has done a lot to bring back the guacamaya population, and I have seen so many more this year. In my area, most are green and blue. They're amazing!

      @@safeerkhattak1688 I don't know all their names. We have tons of Military Parrots. The larger guacamayas are mostly green with red and blue, and a few are mostly blue with green, yellow, and red. I'm in the Bay of Banderas.
      I've always seen the Military Parrots, although this year, I have flocks of 20-50 in the jungle around my house. In years past, I saw guacamayas a few times a year. This year, I easily see 20 a day flying, and they sometimes land in the trees around my house in groups of 2-5.
      Last year, nesting boxes were put up around Boca de Tomatlan and at the Vallarta Botanical Garden. It has made a huge difference. I don't know if other conservations were put in place, as well.

    The video makes it seem like the scarlet macaw only inhabits Mexico and is on the verge of extinction. Yet in fact, their range is all the way across Central America and into the Amazon in 'South America. Not sure if they are also threatened there. Would have been good if the video addressed that; their whole population and not the ones in Mexico. I remember seeing scarlet macaws flying across the skies of the Bolivian Amazon years ago. Such a stunning sight!!!

    • @terramater
      @terramater  2 місяці тому +3

      We appreciate you sharing your experience and providing additional context about the scarlet macaw's range. Our video specifically focuses on conservation efforts in Mexico, where these magnificent birds have faced severe declines. It's important to note that while their populations in parts of Central and South America might still be stable, regions like Mexico have seen drastic losses, making local conservation initiatives like the one featured in our video crucial. We'll definitely consider your feedback for future content to provide a broader perspective on their global status. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts! 🦜

    • @stonew1927
      @stonew1927 2 місяці тому +2

      @@terramater Yea, I didn't mean to devalue your perspective on the bird and their decline in Mexico. It's a very important story and needs to be told. Just that some people may not know that the scarlet macaws also live in other areas in Central and South America and may come away with the impression that these last few in the wild in Mexico and in the breeding program are the last ones anywhere, when that's not the case. Having said that, I'm positive that are also facing challenges due to poaching and habitat destruction in their other native ranges as well. Just yesterday, I saw a video by Zoom Earth of large swaths of the Bolivian Amazon on fire, billowing smoke choking the skies for hundreds of miles across the country. It's extremely sad and worrying to lose so much habitat and the millions of wonderful wild animals that live there. Thanks again for the video . . .

    good to see macaw go freedom rather than learning bad words/swear words/cursed words/or any human language with human.
    is vital for them to be natural to speak macaw's language.
    the male parrot able to mimic human word yet female won't.
    why ?
    is actually they mimic voice to find mating partner (Not featured to flirt with female human by talk "i love you")
    Therefore ,is animal abuse.
    I can't wait to see them back to normal in their own land. Very good and very beautiful.
    keep on a good job to conservative these beautiful bird.
    Whoever, want pets.
    Please !, go for cats and dogs first the most invasive animal on earth that a must stop over populated , adopt don't shop, spay and neutral is vital.

    Parrots (order Psittaciformes) originated exclusively from Oceania, which is the reason why parrots are split into eight extant families under three superfamilies
    The three superfamilies of parrots are Strigopoidea (New Zealand Parrots), Cacatuoidea (Cockatoos), and Psittacoidea (True Parrots)
    The eight extant families of parrots are Nestoridae (Kakas and Kea), Strigopidae (Kakapo and Kakarikis), Nymphicidae (Cockatiel), Cacatuidae (True Cockatoos), Pezoporidae (Typical Oceanian Parrots), Psittaculidae (Asiatic Parrots), Psittacidae (African Parrots), and Aridae (New World Parrots)
    The new zealand parrots (superfamily Strigopoidea) are constituted by the Nestoridae and Strigopidae families, the cockatoos (superfamily Cacatuoidea) are constituted by the Nymphicidae and Cacatuidae families, and the true parrots (superfamily Psittacoidea) are constituted by the Pezoporidae, Psittaculidae, Psittacidae, and Aridae families

    True, of course scarlet macaws may have RELATIVES in cities-every single other species in the order Psittaciformes. Lol… but the larger species (including scarlet macaws, & also hyacinth, military, and green-winged macaws) aren’t really common in urban places, surprisingly. Either as feral or introduced species. I mean, except in Miami. And even there, it’s mainly blue-and-gold macaws that are the largest parrot seen.

    It seems they did no flight training with any of the parrots, which leads to a high fatality rate. Bringing a bound eagle on top of the aviary will do little to prepare them from an actual attack, especially because parrots are naturally afraid of falcons/hawks and snakes, it was in other words a meaningless exercise. I get that training is expensive, time consuming and creates an inconvinient bond between man and beast, but each inidividual bird has a far higher chance of survival if their muscles have become strong and they learn to forage before being set free. Past attempts just like this have led to the majority of the birds being killed within the first 2 years of living in the wild.
