Viktor is a very entertaining guy. And very smart. I once attended one of his lectures and the way he talks about... anything really is just hilarious.
I am very happy that they are putting so much work into the NPCs. FINALLY someone realized how important that is. The only other game I known to have done this kind of system well is Ultima 7 (released in 1992 btw). Other games like Skyrim just don't have as detailed NPC schedules. I'm now seriously thinking about buying this game when it comes out :)
this is going to be a game changer like cod 4 was for multiplayer but this is like everything combat,ai,horse,big,battle,crafting. I think alot of game company are going to learn a thing or two on how to make a next gen game from this game

This looked great, love how the npc's/wildlife interact and go about their lives. Really makes the world feel alive and not like your usual "static" npc's that just stand around waiting for the all mighty player to interact with them.
Me too! Too many games give the player special treatment, an example of what i mean is like how you are only a private in Call of Duty but all the soldiers follow you and you have to do everything. I want a game that puts you in the shoes of an nameless soldier of an army of thousands and this game looks like it will.
hubbabubbly Things are only impossible until they're not. A living breathing world for multiple players is only limited by the server hardware and bandwidth running the AI.
hubbabubbly You don't simulate it twice. You simulate it once and only send the client computers the information they need. What an NPC 2 km away does isn't relevant to the player, so it isn't sent to the players who are too far away. You could further save bandwidth by pre-scripting a lot of actions and only sending changes to the NPC's pre-scripted actions to clients. Finally, you could save even more bandwidth by having the client simulate more precise actions (like pathing and reactions to players) when there are no other players in the region.
hubbabubbly I don't see why they couldn't just release a way for people to host their own servers. Even two player co-op would be cool, especially if they did it like saints row or borderlands where they can just drop into your game with their character at any time.

MMOs, have to be able to run on just about any spec from the ultra-low to the high end, so they tend to optimize for lower end, afaik. I would also imagine that since MMOs are massive investments, they really dont want to spend more than they need to, most mmo players (i'd think) aren't looking for graphical fidelity rather they're in it for the social experience. And as yorzaro said, its all handled client side, servers are pretty much sending the equivalent of gps co-ordinates and actions.
The people that are involved in this project have worked with games like Crysis, Arma and Mafia....so it is certainly people that have the ''know how'' to pull something like this off.

Tohle hra se určitě zapíše do žebříčku nejlepších her na světě. Všechny Video Updaty vypadají skvěle. Warhorse Studios My friend just tipped me off about this game and I just want to say I think it looks gorgeous and it seems from all appearances to be anything I've ever wanted in a medieval game. I love that period of history and it's great to see a game that's trying to stick to it.

I hope that the NPC will not take their tools of their pockets as he does when the farmer go to the garden, but as he did when he goes fishing. The farmer takes the cane on a rack.
I love this game more with every updated. That any publisher passed on this is just indicative of how out of touch publishers are, especially with the RPG crowd. You only have to glance at the sort of immersion/realism mods are out there for Skyrim and the like to realize this. I'm interested in knowing if there are survival systems.. disease, hunger, exhaustion, etc..
Developers these days don't like to take any sort of risk. If they think they won't reach as many people as possible, often they won't fund a project, but these guys had the right idea to show them by crowd funding. Now, we'll even get extra features due to stretch goals reached.
If only any Game would look as stunning as this masterpiece I would be very happy. Even Far Cry 4 seems to have mediocre graphics compared to this. The way you work with vegetation and e.g. realistic height of trees is just priceless.
You know on a macro scale they have NAILED the NPCs, they really feel alive, the only issues is that on a lower level they aren’t so great, eg if you walk towards them the won’t try and move out of the way and the guards will tell you off for not having a light when you’re in a pub and wouldn’t need one. But they’re some of the best npcs I’ve seen regardless
Vau, ta grafika je úžasná, na to bláto a budovy zírám s otevřenou pusou (a ani nechci vědět, jak drahý stroj si budu muset pořídit, abych to s touhle parádou rozjel :D). Jen bych zvolil tmavší zelenou pro trávu. Je zvláštní, že je všude možně bahno a pak krásně zelená tráva, jako když o ni každý den pečují. Každopádně za touhle prací klobouk dolů :) snažíte se myslet na opravdu hodně aspektů, to je super :).
Loving that I decided to back this game up. I realize I had this this game first in March 2013 in the CryEngine3 promo reel. At that time it was just labeled as Warhorse but now I know Warhorse is just the name of the company and the game is Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I love the focus on the AI. Keep up the good work.
RedJay You are right, I just checked wikipedia and exactly like you said. There was a Brown Bear. And they still say it occassionally reaches Czech territory from east.
Same thing with wolves and lynx, although these (especially the latter) are slowly returning. So yeah, plenty of dangerous animals in the medieval Bohemia.
I think the work you are doing is very detailed and accurate, and that is something that is lost in other games that pay more attention to some things than others. Your work is absolutely wonderful guys!!!
This game will definitely be in the ranking of the best games in the world. All Video Updates look great. PS: Don't forget to give every single NPC in the world his/her *own name*! This can be done with a simple (randomized) command and adds a lot to the immersion factor! Making farmer 1,2,3 etc less generic.
Why not pledge now on kickstarter? And get more content ingame? If you pledge soldier you can choose which platform you like it to be on, so no problem there.
Holy jesus. Have you seen the kickstarter? It went nuts on the last three days. It went from 850,000 to 975,000 in a term of 48 hours! that is insane!! I so much love this game already, I just wish it were longer and that the other acts were published sooner than in 2016 and 1017, but well... I think if they get a lot of money from this game (which they will) they will make the other acts sooner.

MacX1985 exactly nearly every multiplayer shooter in the last few years (even Battlefield; sorry Fanboys :D) has adpted that system ;)
Leveling, XP and customization was standard in RPGs years before that and is a rather dumb recipe for shooters.

I am impressed how the terrain, trees, farm tracks, fields and all their proportions are so similar to our real world. Respect to the world builders!

PS: Don't forget to give every single NPC in the world his/her *own name*! This can be done with a simple (randomized) command and adds a lot to the immersion factor! Making farmer 1,2,3 etc less generic.

Why not pledge now on kickstarter? And get more content ingame? If you pledge soldier you can choose which platform you like it to be on, so no problem there.
Holy jesus. Have you seen the kickstarter? It went nuts on the last three days. It went from 850,000 to 975,000 in a term of 48 hours! that is insane!! I so much love this game already, I just wish it were longer and that the other acts were published sooner than in 2016 and 1017, but well... I think if they get a lot of money from this game (which they will) they will make the other acts sooner.

when i first saw the guy behind warhorse and his dream for a game that will step the gaming industry up to the next generation and now seeing the video trailers i am so glad to be part of it, and hopefully this is only the birth , looks incredible.
Not too many medieval based games that catch my attention out there, but I am so stoked for this!
