Discovered this channel recently and binged the 3 houses series and I’m loving it so far! I swear, edited playthroughs of this game are so rare that it’s a joy whenever I find one! I appreciate that you seem to not be viewing Edelgard as evil incarnate. As a Black Eagles enjoyer, I’m glad that you seem to have an open mind about Edelgard’s character
Edelgard is definitely one of the most controversial character in Three houses. (Hell problably in all of fire emblem.) A lot of people like her and a lot of people hate her. Rhea is problably the second most... Despite the controversy shes still incredibly popular. Was the most voted hero when CYL 4 happened. Gaining 74K votes, making edelgard the highest voted of any hero ever. (Gatekeeper in CYL 5 got 72K votes and is in 2nd place highest voted hero.) Fun fact: This game actually has 4 routes. Depending on Crimson flowers if you C support + go to enbarr with her, you get the choice at to side with her (Crimson flower) or side with the church/Rhea (Silver Snow/Default route.) You get to keep all your units minus Flayn/Catherine/Cyril, if you pick Silver snow you lose Edelgard and Hubert.
I know how you feel. I also like to take my og students on missions. With me, I like to bring my original class on most main missions, and on prologues and training missions I just bring whoever. The exceptions I have is when I know certain characters have unique dialogue with an enemy
All I'll say is that Edelgard's situation is not quite so cut and dry. You'll find out what's going on for yourself as you keep playing. I hope you keep enjoying the game! :D

Btw if you aren't planning to do another route and just the Golden Deer, I HIGHLY recommend you watch the Edelgard Flame emperor reveal for the Blue Lions route, not gonna spoil but its a cinematic masterpiece. A reaction to it is also easy content lol.
Well now you know who is the Flame Emperor. And no, Edelguard is beloved in the fandom. She is not evil but rather antagonistic, it’s a much better term. And for more answers, continue the story. And yeah my favorite route is CF, certain things have to be done for my point of view because Fodlan is actually a lot of mess and I am with her side for her ideas but it can be executed differently. I love all of my Black Eagles students but we don’t matter because we play the deer!!! And time is running out for recruiting others people! And more importantly have fun with the game!
It's crazy because when you KNOW who the Flame Emperor is, the voice is sooooo recognisable, but it doesn't cross your mind most of the times when you hear it completely blind.

yeah, flame emperor really was not really evil, and she didn't have anything to do with jeralts dads death. that was kronya, solon, and thales being on demon timing. not to mention, remember when she was talking to them and said "there will be no salvation for you and your kind"? theres probably much i dont know still, but i can't imagine shes evil.
even if edelgard didn´t plan to kill jeralt, she was plotting with monica/kronja all the months since she was brought back, that´s why you see them always together. I don´t think I would take that so lightly if I would be in the position of byleth
expanding on this comment. in general every unit learns some spells from faith and some from reason like how lysethea gets warp from faith or how all your healers also get decent damage spells from reason since they all go off the magic stat, you can just have marianne actualyl delete fools

32:00 have been kinda skipping through the map part rn but i saw this yes enemies can get crits but outside of weapons with a native crit rate, like killer weapons, they tend to not have crit rate thats because one of your stats, i think its luck, acts as a counter to enemy crit rate. and since your units have decent stats your foes just dont have a crit rate to crit with. Edit: Here is the Math version on crit attacker crit rate: (Weapon Crit) + [(Dexterity + Luck) / 2] + (Ability bonus) + (Equipment bonus) + (Battalion bonus) - defender crit avoid crit avoid: (Luck) + (Ability bonus) Weapon Crit is stuff like the 10 crit rate that sword of the creator gets or the 30 of killer weapons ability bonus is from skills or combat arts, equipment bonus is stuff like the critical ring and battalion bonus is well from your batalion as you can see, since your luck counters a fair bit of the crit chance enemies need to have a cracked weapon or skills to even HAVE crit rate
You mentioned last episode how fire emblem characters just wake up, eat breakfast, then decide who they're gonna kill Yeah, this is more of that, especially with Edelgard declaring war
33:54 you see that 4th symbol on the bottom of the battle forecast? thats counterattack. it means that range DOES NOT MATTER they can hit you. you could shoot them with a ballista and they could hit you they cant initiate combat from infinite range but they can counter your attack from infinite range. doesnt matter how big your range is.
i see the chapter, will watch the actual video over time but something i like to say. someonoe already mentioned the 4 route thing. if you had played crimsom flower i and others would have been yelling at you to hit the cf triggers post battle of this chapter is the point where you would have truly chosen if you do cf or ss route. assuming of course you did the prerequisites. if you didnt you get no choice and play silver snow. but for this playthrough that isnt relevant since we are in golden deer baby

33:11 she actually could have sniped him. you see 3 to the right of the flame emperor how there is a red square? if you moved lysethea at least 3 spaces to the left from her current position she could have sniped him. most fe games dont give 2 cents about hight and for some weapons dont even care about walls. if you have the range you can hit. (walls are a map by map basis)

blue lions is story wise the best route, but lore wise golden deer is the best, the game is desgined so that you play all routes to get the full ecperience but you can still enjoy each route no matter where you start on it´s own

I think I’m more of a story-person, but the GoldenDeer experience was still intriguing to uncover the mysteries you couldn’t discover in the BlueLions route -then again what the game producers could have done at the most is make Part 1 for each route unique instead of going through White Clouds multiple times. Though I guess seeing the house leaders’ expressions and reactions to some events and moments are pretty decent
Also, I completely emphathoze with Edelgard after choosing her route. I'm not saying she should have started a war, but I understand her. She's not evil!

@@Flutterdark_In my case once I got the class I just spam the magic attacks and only used the Sword of the Creator for bosses or toughest enemies. Kind of like how I had Felix spam magic in his mortal savant class and almost forgot his strong sword skills haha
@@DSeditor22 i just didnt use sword of the creator ever. my byleth just had killing edges. i just didnt use magic much on byleth. cauzse it was my first fe so my byleth had none. besides when you roll up with 3 mages and a dancer mage magic is covered (that was my team)

I’ll keep spoilers out of this but this chapter highlights the reason why I think Golden Deer is the worst route in the game after beating each route at least twice The problem is with Edelgard. In this route she is very underdeveloped and just comes off as “evil lady who does evil things cuz she’s evil” which is not an accurate read of her character, but if you only play Golden Deer then that’s how you’d probably view her. If you play Black Eagles you get to know her very well, and Blue Lions has additional scenes with her and Dimitri that help flesh her out, but neither is around in the Golden Deer. I’ll admit now that black eagles was my first route so I’m biased towards them, but I think siding with Edelgard is the right choice. What the Golden Deer fails to do outside of develop her motivation. She gives her speech, but it can’t really be taken at face value because it’s a propaganda speech. Other than that, the only motivation she has is ascribed to her from Seteth and Rhea who are obviously not a reliable source. The system of Crests and Nobility are incredibly corrupt and harmful. This is shown in the supports of Edelgard, Dorothea, Bernadetta, Hanneman (the one with Edelgard), Sylvain, Felix, Ingrid, Mercedes, Jeritza, and even Dedue, Dimitri, and Cyril to some extent. But the Golden Deer has a much more lighthearted tone in their supports that does little to establish the wider world of Fodlan and thus doesn’t present a reason as to why the system needs to be dismantled. Rhea is the one who created this system and has been upholding it for thousands of years, alongside hiding secrets which you will find out later Ultimately that’s why I think Golden Deer is the worst route. Granted this is my favorite game of all time so I still love the route but it’s the easiest to pick apart
golden dear is one of the best routes, because it has the most informations about lore and history of fodland something I think you will enjoy quite a lot :D
I understand your point, and I can understand the bias since I did BlueLions first, so I have a low perspective of Edelgard, but I’m over 50% of CrimsonFlower and I agree that she’s not exactly evil, but for some reason I still can’t find a reason to like her while understand why others like her. But I still don’t side with Rhea and also don’t think I can ever like her at all… personal opinion: even though SilverSnow (black eagles) was made before VerdantWind (golden deer) I actually enjoy VerdantWind better 😅 maybe it’s because of Claude or maybe its final boss is just gosh darn too epic!
@@DSeditor22 I appreciate your perspective and I do agree VW is better than SS. I think Edelgard is a type of character who you either love or hate. She’s very determined and intelligent which can oftentimes come off as arrogant or cold. She does show a lot of compassion and an ability to change her mind (see her Manuela support), but I totally see why others don’t like her. I think asides from first route bias, another reason I connect with her so well is because I see a lot of myself in her, for better and for worse

I understand your point, and I can understand the bias since I did BlueLions first, so I have a low perspective of Edelgard, but I’m over 50% of CrimsonFlower and I agree that she’s not exactly evil, but for some reason I still can’t find a reason to like her while understand why others like her. But I still don’t side with Rhea and also don’t think I can ever like her at all…
personal opinion: even though SilverSnow (black eagles) was made before VerdantWind (golden deer) I actually enjoy VerdantWind better 😅 maybe it’s because of Claude or maybe its final boss is just gosh darn too epic!
@@DSeditor22 I appreciate your perspective and I do agree VW is better than SS. I think Edelgard is a type of character who you either love or hate. She’s very determined and intelligent which can oftentimes come off as arrogant or cold. She does show a lot of compassion and an ability to change her mind (see her Manuela support), but I totally see why others don’t like her. I think asides from first route bias, another reason I connect with her so well is because I see a lot of myself in her, for better and for worse
You probably don’t need another archer but I am once again requesting you recruit Bernadetta before it is too late, all I can say is time is running out for recruiting

bte I wouldn´t look too much into the opinions of the comments, not everyone played all routes and there are a lot of edelgard fanboys, never underastimate the simps just saying XD play the game and make your own opinion is all i can say
