This version sounds a lot more like it came out on the Sega Genesis, that is if this music was on Castlevania Bloodlines instead of the actuality we got from it. The actual version from that game sounds good, but nothing beats this imo
The YM2612 is a watered down version of the YM2151. The YM2151 was a very expensive chip at the time (it was designed for synthesizers), combine that with the fact that you needed a dedicated digital to analog converter chip (a YM3012 chip) for the computer to process the audio, but obviously the quality is well worth it. The Sharp X68000 was Sharp's way to replicate the quality of arcade machines and bring it to the consumer. Everything was top of the line. The problem was that it was so expensive (who could afford a $4000 computer back then?) that only Japanese game developers bought the computer. This computer ended up being used as a tool for game developers to make their games on it and to try to use it to devise custom hardware for their arcade boards.
XFroster9000X Well, this version of the game is pretty rare and not very iconic because of it. So when people think of "Vampire Killer" they usually go for the NES or the (in my eyes) butchered remix in Rondo of Blood
a PC that cost about $4000 back when it first came out in 1987. The Mega Drive/Genesis was Sega's way of watering down the specs of the X68000 so that people could actually afford it.
Bruh I can't beat the damn level because this song keeps making me bust down
The only bad part about this extended mix is that you get less of the intro synth if you loop it. So damn good!
If you listen closely, you can hear Tails flying back into the screen. The funk is strong with this one for sure
Started playing this game recently. What a great remixed OST, and this has to be one of my favorite tracks from it.
One of the best VK renditions I've heard (I've heard them all) on par with the rendition from Harmony of Dissonance, which is surprising.
'blaa6' Green Thunder YM2151
RetroRepair Say what?
Well.. you must have read it?
This is probably my favorite version of Vampire Killer. I'm thinking about remixing it.
You ever hear the ReBirth remix?
Me too
Absolutely love it, there is another version of this song based on this version. Idk what it is called.
Perfect one but pc engine is also really great no? :)

XD I know it sounds like Sonic, but Arcade games have this style of music too ;)😉
ym2151 +msm6258 (for pcm samples). It's basically opl2 (opm2?) chip (same as in genesis) in complete glory.
Sylvania Castle Zone
Sonic, stay on my damn Castlevania
Too cool for words! Just about my favorite rendition of this song!
This is still, the ultimate version of Vampire Killer
Cool extension to this track!

When you imagine Castlevania in a PC that sounds like a Genesis
