- Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - 2001 Skate America, Ladies' Free Skate - Sasha Cohen of the United States wasn't able to recover from her popping her quadruple Salchow attempt and ended up placing 5th in the Free Skate. This placement would drop her from 4th to 5th Place overall.
I like the piece on the layback at the beginning. Peggy does a good job explaining what makes a good layback, and Sarah does a good job demonstrating it. Unfortunately the layback today has become an excuse for an entry into a Biellman instead of a stand-alone spin on its own merits.
Sasha is so good!
0:53 Gorgeous layback from Sarah. The best from a leftie, ever.
Dick was talking shit until that amazing layback spin lol. I miss these days
@Novak D your grammar, is the disaster…
@wjoycek The short programs were not broadcasted.
I wish she would have kept this dress... Its beautiful!! Too bad about the horrible disaster of her quad attempt. (and quite obviously everyone thought (Nicks, Commentators here) that she wasnt up to the task, nor did she need it. Too bad:()
Thank you so much for posting this! I've seen this program before, but it had bad color so it looked black and white. Can you post the other program for skate america? please answer.
wow is she trying to do a quad toe loop!! 4:18, over rotation
Quad Salchow
Yes! Assuming that her quad attempts were making her over rotate her other jumps. The ONLY competition where I’ve seen that from her😱
4:42 and 5:45 ...perfect!
she should have gone down in skating as the best ever.
But her jumping edges were unpredictable and shallow. She tried to hard to be a ballerina on the ice instead of a figure skater. Cohen's extreme flexibility negatively affected her jumping. She was way to bendy,
@@JosedeJezeus And I don't think that Sasha had the best artistry........
@Novak D if she lived up to her talent and didn't try to set her own training routine and schedule she would have been the best.
@vistaprime Sasha is a legend. She will be remembered forever for her exquisite spiral sequences, gorgeous layback and scratch spins, and those amazing Russian splits! Such artistry..ballet on ice. Her Swan Lake skate 2004 is probably my favorite. But I loved her Dark Eyes performance 2006, too. ❤
SASHA YOU'RE THE BEST' BY THE WAY I HAD ONE OF THE BEST INVERTED CAMELS ON ROLLER SKATES THANX TO RICHARD BALTIERRA! VERY FEW PEOPLE SAW IT! BUT I HAD IT! SQUARE SHOULDERS BELOW THE HIPS!
In the fluff piece, were they dissing on Michelle for putting her free leg down?
I don't think so - probably more just distinguishing it from the many skaters who do laybacks with their leg not turned out and their foot pointing down straight down at the ice. Not as aesthetically pleasing.
What level was she then? I'm guessing she was a senior, but I don't know. Someone please reply :)
oh okay thanks :)
What a disaster
Sasha was broken.
「1st woman to land a Quad?」
?←なんか草
None Lovelier...
Her legs just spread apart! 🤪😂😂😂🤣🤣
That's what she gets ha ha !
