I'm here in 2022 still playing most of my games at 1440p 60fps on the GTX 970.. pretty much all of the Lego games, Witcher 3, AC unity, Battlefield 1, watchdogs 1 and 2, Diablo 3, pretty much every real time strategy I play.. yeah okay maybe if I tried pushing some of the latest AAAs I'd have to make some adjustments but it still plays most of them better than say a PS4 does
Still have a system for my girlfriend with a 970 Fallout 4 Edition running almost daily on medium intensity games after years of heavy use. This year I took it apart, gave it a good cleaning and new thermal paste, and it runs beautifully for it's age. I cherish this card greatly, it has given me many good memories and I'm very happy to see it still get use, even if it's not by me. specs: GTX 970, i7-4790k, 24GB RAM. The extra RAM definitely helps. Also, great video!!
Rocking a GTX 970 on my pc... Even it's an ancient card it still lets me play most games on 1080p. But hopefully i'm upgrading to a RX6600 soon. Thanks for the video friend
I'd suggest you get a used 3060ti which usually sells for around 250-300 bucks. And yes used cards are worth buying even if they were used for mining as long as they're not broken. I recently bought a used 3090 for 800 bucks and it works perfectly fine even tho it was previously used on a mining rig for 4 months straight
Does your fan making a rattling noise? Bought a used one where the thermalbaste was still soft so i assume that it wasnt used alot but the fan is making a rattling noise like a the ball bearing issue. I wonder if that noise is maybe normal?
i have gtx970 , it is the best budget gpu in my opinion it is pretty strong for its price nearly 40 fps on cyberpunk (ihave a i7-4th gen and 16 gb ddr3 ram ) but i dont really expect it to be better as it is a 8 year old graphic card and cyberpunk is not that optimized overall, i am very happy with it
i got this card for around 100euro, one might think that this card is around useless for gaming nowadays even because of the low amount of vram, but i can say if you play rhythm games is still able to push a lot of frames and hold a stable 0.4-0.8 average ms delay, it works great for OpenGL and vulkan, but yeah it's probably not a good choice if you play newer games, there are better price performance cards, also just the other day, windows could not recognize the gpu in gpu-z, so i had to reinstall the drivers, but i guess at this point it's an old gpu
@@crqsh6470 i bought it during mining crisis, because i sold my old rx590 with the overprice, I wasn't even using half the potential of a 590, so either ways even a 3060ti would've been pointless to me
Very smart thing to do, and yes, people tend to write off the older GPUs quite quickly, when they can still run modern games decently, for me, if it runs games at 1080p, then it's still decent... 100€ for a 970 during the crisia isn't really that high, I see them nkw fkr that price.
This doesn't really make sense man, why would I use a slower CPU, the point is to allow the GPU to show what it can do And I believe even a R5 2600 and i5 9400 are enough fkr the 970 tk be utilized at 99% all kd the time, sk results would be the same

That is a still a great setup, puts up a decent fight even after all these years...
Let's just hope NVIDIA supports the 900 series a bit longer 😃
Still pushing this guy for almost 9 years! I got it in 2014 and its been used in two builds lol gonna upgrade it soon tho!
Me too! Lol. With GPU prices dropping, I'm getting a second one for SLI. Shooting for $75. Watercooling one.
It decent. I rate this 3.5/4
I see what you did there 😆

Wow, that's REALLY GOOD for an 8-year-old card! Thanks for showing us.
Old but still not really obsolette, of course if the price is right 😀

For the price I'd rather get a 580 considering it's more current architecture along with having proper DX12/Vulkan compatibility
what driver version are these tests using?
Short and sweet!
exactly!
Finally a benchmark where an old gpu isn't tested on games released 10 years ago.
I mean what's the point in testing Far cry 3 or AC 3 on it, we already know that runs great
loved this!
Thanks, more to come soon :)

worth it to be one of your subscriber
Yes. I bought one for 50GBP to play Doom (2016). Runs at 60fps with everything on, and this is a cheap office-grade PC.
No, it's not anymore....
The new title ladies and gentlemen

Nice review! And are you finnish perhaps? XD
Not finnish, I am Serbian, nice guess, haven't had that one so far 😅
AND im still wondering why this gtx 970 can get a higher fps than my crappy gtx 1660s
What card did he compare it to at the end? I can't understand him
The rx 570, a very similar card
Im upgrading to a GTX 970 from a R7 240
Gigantic upgrade

I have same model this GPU and i get strange white screen and now my monitor is black and my PC beeping, it is dead card now?
If you have integrated graphics, try that wjthout tbe GPU, but I believe jt might be dead
I got a similar set up just my cpu is a ryzen 5 2600
You have a lot of potential for the next GPU, the 970 isn't close to the best you can pair with that
how long is the card
I don't have it anymore, vut online it says around 247mm (9.7 inches)
Playing palsword so its a beast to me

If you bought it recently for 100 euro I'd say you kinda got scammed because you could easily get a used 3060ti for around 250-300 euro

Nah u should use cpu like ryzen 5 2600 its more fair play because i5 11th gen is not old and slow like r5 2600 and i5 9400

Nope mine just got burnt 😅😂
That's sad to hear, as you can see it could have lived a little bit longer...
It isn't a beast anymore. One should atleast buy a 1660 in this day and age.
Pry a 1070 at least tbh
My msi 970 benchmarks between a 1060 and a 1660nwith an overclock.
It really just depends on what you play. For many a 970 is plenty.
