Yrah the conversation between Flint and Roger's is so good. There is tension and anger but also an odd comfort and almost amusing level of frankness. Roger's is what James Mcgraw became when he met Hamilton and the idea of saving Nassau first came to them. But James is imprisoned by Flints rage and vengeance. Its an incredible conversation. Thoughtful for sure and the contrasts and similarities make it that way.
Silver stopping Dufrense to death with the metal peg has got to be one of the most satisfying deaths I've ever witnessed on television. And it makes so much sense. Silver comes in and delivers this incredible mobologue, striking fear into the hearts of the tavern patrons, then dufrense shows up and starts trash talking him. It had to go down that way. Dufrense has to die for that offense or at least be made an example of...And boy oh boy. The way Silver made an example of him...epic, terrifying and thrilling. One of the best deaths. One of the best Silver moments.
And that line at the end, "My name is John Silver, and I've got a long fucking memory."

Silver killing Dufrense is such a satisfying moment. One could watch it on a loop and never get tired. Rogers is very much the man James McGraw might have became if he'd not met Thomas Hamilton. I think they definitely recognize themselves in each other.
For other show recs, have you seen "Animal Kingdom"? It's a wild ride and I don't think I've seen anyone react to it yet.

"My name is John Silver and I've got a long fucking memory!"
My favourite moment in the entire show!! Bonus being Douchefresne getting his stupid face bashed in
John Silver has always been my favourite character, but this episode just solidified how large the margin between him and my other faves is.
The scene on the beach between Flint and the Governor is so good. They are two sides to one coin. Clad in the guise of civility, but capable of true, horrifying acts of evil:
"If you insist on making me your villain, I'll play the part"
    (Flint's speech in the s2 finale: )
"Everyone is a monster to someone. Since you're so convinced I am yours, I will be it"

I like too how the Queen trusts Flint enough to send Madi with them all.
Again, I have to mention my boy Billy. His suggestion to take Silver to the tavern, the idea of shocking people to convince them worked well. That scene is great, Silver line sooo good. We can see how Silver is changing, he's darker (deep thoughts, the look on his face, the low voice...), more and more similar to Flint.
The dialogue between Flint and Rogers was great too. Rogers having that line ("if you insist upon making me your villain, I'll play the part") was weirdly cool but he bothered me putting Thomas name every few words. Flint was so pissed, poor man!
Regarding new shows, have you ever watched "The umbrella academy"? It's super cool, funny and with an amazing soundtrack. You can't stop yourself from singing while watching it 😆

Vane and Bonny were very smart here. They both know if it came to a choice Flint would leave Jack and go for the money. Now they either get both or none.

i love the scene between flint and rogers soo much! what's really interesting about it tho is that while rogers claims that he and flint are the same and have the same goals...the scene actually highlights how different they are if you think about it! while they are both ambitious, tactical, and capable of great violence, flint was not able to succeed in his goals in 1705 because of his queerness and his class. as opposed to rogers who was able to rise in the ranks and is where he is today because he never violated civilizations rules. also the difference of flint and thomas' goals of pardoning the pirates and establishing a safe haven in nassau and facilitating change were seen as a betrayal of the crown, while rogers goal of pardons is to maintain the status quo of british colonialism.

I think you have a point here, about the differences between Flint and Rogers. When I first saw him I thought he really wanted the """peace""" in Nassau. Like, he could have given the pardon to everyone to make a new civilized place, giving jobs and stuff to make the city grow but then I realized I was too optimistic and that that view was almost utopic, too difficult to reach. In the end, that was just mere colonialism, forcing someone to submit to my laws and my will just because my king told you to do so (especially when the only option is "agree to this" or I will hang you).

Eleanor's face at 18:15 is so funny to me cause the only time she interacted with Silver was when he was shackled to the couch on her office.

Also, when he was writing out the beginning of the missing page for the Urca schedule and when she enlisted Siilver's help to murder Hammond and the other crew members, along with his return from telling Hammond the lie that Jack still had half the pearls when he helps himself to a drink. Loved his line, "On this island, nobody fucks with you and gets away with it".

For a future show suggestion I always recommend Mr Robot if you haven't watched it yet. It sits on the same level as Expanse and Black Sails for me, which all sit in a tier barely below Breaking Bad in my all time favorite rankings. All three of the shows have great characters, solid writing, and all maintain quality to the end. The first season of Mr Robot is so good it makes the second season feel a little slow by comparison, but it pays off the time it spends laying groundwork in that season as it moves to and through the incredible final season. It also has some of the best individual episodes of TV I have ever seen along the way.

Anne handed over the cash in order to force a rescue for Jack. If she held the cash Flint would already got what he wanted. Therefore he would have little incentive to give a fuck about Jack.

What an incredible episode. The stand out scenes were for sure the scene in the bar with John and that rat fuck Dufrense getting his and the dialogue with Flint and Rogers on the beach. I cannot praise the show enough for how good the writing/acting is. Eagerly awaiting the next episode, time to get our boy Jack back! Till next time.
