@Gopher as you have taste for practical keyboards i wanted to recommend to you one of my favorite keyboard, "A4Tech X7-G800MU usb + ps/2" (MU have Audio in / Audio out and USB). Choosing hotkeys become breeze and having keys same under all games like map, quest, inventory and what not make gaming so much better. Its harder to find in shop because its old, I'm planning to get my self two new one as you cant find nothing similar and when old one eventually stop working it be harder to find replacement the more time passes.
Gopher IMO you forgot one aspect...you said there is only a benefit to content creators with this keyboard regarding smoother movement for capturing footage, but I personally think it improves immersion immensely. No longer do I need a seperate key to switch between walking and running and in some games you can even replace stealth keys completely (The Styx games). I just love it and I watched a lot of reviews that said they can´t get anything out of the analogue feature at all and only use it for the rapid trigger feature. I guess this may be true when you only play competetive shooters.
I decided to try this keyboard out since I like to play my singleplayer games much like Gopher does, immersively and I hate the static movement of keyboard controls but I also only use controllers for specific games like platformers or souls games. For immersive sim games, especially first person, I like to use my mouse and keyboard for the hotkeys aswell as better camera control (for me) I tried for a long time (years ago at this point) to make the Logitech G13 onehanded keyboard work but it was always gimmicky (it has a thumbstick you can bind to movement kinda like how Wooting does the keybinding) and the thumbstick was in an awkward position. I also really enjoy MMOs and some multiplayer games with friends and I found swapping between the logitech G13 and regular keyboard to suddenly take up a lot of desk space, or being very finnicky. I got my Wooting two HE (the 'full' keyboard version) a couple of days ago and so far with raiding in my MMOs aswell as playing Skyrim, Starfield and Cyberpunk, I've been having a great time so far. I'm really thrilled with my purchase and apart from a bit long waiting time due to low production and being sent out in batches, I cannot recommend this keyboard enough for people either like me or Gopher where they can see this fitting in very well for their style of gaming.
Was talking to a friend recently about haptic feedback on controllers and we were musing about such a feature being added to keyboards. Analogue coming to keyboards is a step in that direction as controllers got analogue before haptic. This is very cool! Thank you for this video, Gopher! Didn't know this was a thing.
I may be wrong but I believe all keyboards and mice used to be analogue. And by they're very nature controllers are analogue. Remember those round connectors they had before usb, they are analogue.
@@noelienoelie8425 Analogue sticks weren't always a thing on controllers. That didn't start until PS1 controllers, I think. Or was it PS2..? I'd have to look it up to be certain. As the video explains, though, KB and Mouse have always been digital. That's why this keyboard is so special.
If you want to hear something funny find goper's live stream from years ago where he decided one day to play Fallout 4 on a console. The first time rumble hit seriously his reaction was a sudden and desperate shock followed by him rapidly asking how to turn it off. He just couldn't understand why us controller players would want that. Personally, I find M&K combat to be much less natural without it, but I get why it would be odd.
I'm a bit late to the party but wow! I didn't even know we had entered the era of analogue keyboards. And apparently they've been on the market for years now. Thanks for the showcase. This indeed solves an age-old problem. I have friends who for years used to switch between controller and K&M on the fly while playing games that involve driving. This is an incredible piece of tech even if the price is steep at the moment. Razer also has a popular line of analogue keyboards (Huntsman) which are about half the price of Wooting, but of course, there are clear reasons for that once you see the reviews. Edit: It seems like Razer has released an update to their software (Synapse) very recently which copies the exact same features and adjustable actuation points and rapid trigger that Wooting has. So, there is that.
Gopher, I've watched you for near ten years, various moments have made it obvious you know more than the average person on many technical subjects :P This is a really cool product, but various tests with steam deck have taught me that some of my favorite but poorly programmed games can't support multiple input modes. Still really cool that this type of keyboard exists. I also wasted about twice this on building a custom keyboard last black friday, or I'd seriously be tempted despite the issues, the number of options to mitigate issues is impressive.
Remember looking at a keyboard like this a few years ago but I think it had had optical switches, believe it was like 3 different speeds on, e.g W for forward movement but this sounds much better. Still on a old Corsair K65 and this seems to be worth upgrading to. Thank you for showcasing!
I havent gotten to use the analogue portion of the keyboard much really, which is unfortunate, but. I still LOVE my Wooting 2 Lekker edition. Getting the limited edition for $200 or $250 or whatever it was, was so worth it. It feels good, it looks great. I love it
I am surprised you don't hate keyboard lights as much as me. Hopefully it doesn't light up as a christmas tree when booting up like the corsair does...
Assuming it works for Starfield. With Skyrim you have to turn the controller off every time you want to use the keyboard and IIRC its the same with Fallout 4.
I always was a PC and M\KB supremacist, but for me it was always obvious that some games are better on other controllers... wheel for cars, joystick for flying, or even go all it and take wheel + pedals + stick, for flying options are even more insane. Gamepad is basically tying to be all in one option. Its worse than 3-4 separate controllers, especially if its advanced options, or at least not as good as, but its cheaper, takes less space, you can sit on a couch with it. Seems like a fair exchange.
I love the MX Master. The Metorite color is the best. I have the current gen as well, but it barely gets any use. The look of the old one is just better. The old one is also a little more responsive than the current gen as well.
the reason I like my mechanical KB is twofold. 1. its double shot keys so my W A S D letters on the keys will not wear out after three weeks, and 2. I use the backlight to type at night without the need for having a light turned on because I have to be looking at the kb to type or language is not a thing that will happen. lol
A little overlay that tracks key presses on screen would have been a handy touch, tho I doubt any of them track analogue keyboard presses Just a little note in case there might be another keyboard review. An analogue keyboard definitely seems interesting and appealing, tho I would be just fine with only WASD, but as some said, a major issue is how little games allow mixed input on the fly, at least I know Skyrim has a mod for it.
Bugger ordered one of these, Swiftpoint Z2 a while ago. Still in the factory. Looks promising. But the keyboard may have been a better choice. Good vid enough info to make a decision. Well done as is your norm. 🙂
i wonder why they havent tried this on gaming keypads. for those it would be perfect Logitech tried to do something similar on the G13 by having joystick on it but its not the same rly
Just wanted to state that Cooler Master's Aimpad tech removes the issue with analog mode switch between controller and keyboard. For some reason it reges the keyboard as a keyboard and not a controller in the system. Almost a built in workaround... however... some online services will treat this as a device exploit and you can get banned. Too bad Aimpad has been abandoned.
Meanwhile I'm just curious how it compares to the tacticalboard in terms of comfort, because I remember one of the biggest reasons Gopher loved the tacticalboard was that his fingers/hand could rest on the keys, rather than how fingers are usually positioned above WASD. (unless he mentions that and I just missed it)
It's no where near as comfortable, and you have way less buttons easily accessible by your thumb. The layout is a standard QWERTY keyboard designed for typing rather than gaming.
@@GophersVids Now that I think about it, I guess that should be obvious. (a legendary facepalm is required here) The lack of thumb buttons must be rough after getting used to them with the TacticalBoard.
This high level of customization will make this keyboard suitable for basically everyone. I really do like the idea of analogue control on movement depending on how deep you press the key but frankly I doubt it is for me because I never use or have used controllers. Customization can be beneficial even for people who do not use the analogue option, the can set the activation point to suit their needs and style and use the keyboard digitally like in e-sport and competitieve FPS games. I need to experience it for myself to make and I might in time but not right now or anytime soon, my current G910 still works perfectly fine. Even if this is not a review it is still a good video from a user point of view, looking forward for a follow up with your experience using this keyboard.
So... no more Wolf King, eh? Must have been a tough transition. I'm still using a very worn Apex RAW since I'm addicted to having the 2 extra keys on either side of the up arrow. It's going to be a difficult day when this thing finally fails completely.
That's really interesting, I like to indulge myself (waste money) so it's very tempting, even though I'm a pensioner now and should be frugal. Aiming is much better with K&M, but steering is horrible. Too expensive though. In Australia add $100.
that is a cool keyboard! New toy's are always nice! I'm in the weird minority that switched to a controller after the best part of 20 years using K&M, I bought myself a 48" OLED and discovered the luxurious lifestyle of reclined gaming. My old hands/wrist/back/neck/eyes have thanked me immensely, and I've found gaming more relaxing in general. All the old games that I thought would be a lesser experience with a controller, are actually much more simple accessibility wise, sure UI's can be a bitch, like Skyrim, but I've realised that all these bloody games were designed with controller as the primary input device. Glad you're loving your new keyboard though, hoping it brings you many years of lubricated gameplay!
I imagine this feature would prove extremely beneficial to a more cinematic game like Red Dead Redemption 2, especially with all that horsin' around! If the rumours of a Red Dead Redemption 1 remaster are accurate, you're already set for the epic conclusion to the Red Dead saga!
Hi Gopher, I know you're having trouble finding a good keyboard with a non-awkward layout. If you haven't already seen them have a look at the Moonlander, the Halfmoon, the Ergodox EZ, and the Plank EZ. They're all available on the same site since all by the same brand; ZSA, so googling one of them should bring you to all of them.
That's great! I hope in a few more years somebody (maybe this company) will really perfect this stuff and the prince will come down to a more reasonable level. These kinds of keyboards seem like game changers. Its the one very small advantage controllers have.
I was thinking about an analogue keyboard, but they are nowhere available to test out and 180 Euros is a bit much for testing. However now i am considering it seriously. Only question that remains, a TKL or a full keyboard? I rely very often on the numpad, but in most games you don't need it, or wish you could relocate the Numpad to the left side. And then there are games with so many keybinds, that you need that extra space. I truly wish for a full size keyboard, where you can detach the nav and numpad, relocate it to the left of the keyboard or even right of your mouse (but out of the way of the mouse) and have a TKL as your main input.
I have the same problem re: testing. I went and dropped over $200.00 on a mechanical keyboard that was rated very well. Only to find that it makes this heavily annoying (to me) ringing sound. I tried stuffing sound dampeners in it, but it didn't take it all away. After researching on UA-cam, I found that I'd have to actually break open the keyboard, unsolder some springs and then put it back together. I'm nowhere NEAR that competent, so I have to endure the ringing. I'm certainly not spending another 200$ on another keyboard! If I had been able to test the thing in a store, I'd have been able to hear the ringing and went with another keyboard.
Oh, have you done the Starfield video yet? I can understand because of the input thing, but a mod was recently released to allow both M+K and Gamepad at the same time, so maybe that testing video can come?
Keyboard without the feedback of the mechanical keys (the click sound), just don't do it for me. I like the idea of analog keys, especially for movement keys, but I'll never switch unless they mimic the feedback of mechanical keys.
The keyboard is actually the same size as your normal keyboard, it's just missing everything to the right of the ENTER key. They keys and spacing are identical to normal full sized keyboards. And many of us don't really have much use for the numpad whilst gaming. But there is a full size version of this keyboard if that's what you need. Seems an odd thing to focus on :)
And here is me, who after spending upwards of 400 eur on different mechanical keyboards in the last 5-6 yrs found out that i just prefer the feel of my old membrane Logitech G15. (RIP G15, you were a good buddy, sadly dead from a beer spill)
So how long before we get a rant video because X video game didn't have its programming straight enough to work with Gophers fancy new 200$ keyboard xD
I find it baffling that games would disable mouse and keyboard if they detect a controller. If someone is using a controller, the mouse and keyboard would likely not be being touched in any way, and so would not need to be disabled. It sounds like extra work to disable them that oughtn't need to be done in the first place.
OMG, @Gopher can you please tell me the name of the mod for Fallout 4 that allows you to use both the Game controller and the Keyboard together as you mentioned in the video? I use an Xbox One controller for my Fallout 4 game, and love it, but I always wanted to also have the keyboard as well if I wanted for maybe setting additional keys for other things because of other mods I use.

The detachable handle strap is so someone else can snag it and quickly 'take control'
Lol love ya gopher never stop being you.
You are very under valued on yourube
had a wooting since their first release :) must say I hardly ever use the analoge feature... but love the keyboard xD
Had a controller on my lap when playing Mafia 1, think I did the same on GTA 5 and cyberpunk for driving
So, there is that.
making the grenade key less sensitive?? heresy!
The customization seems really good with this keyboard, I wish more keyboards had this.
Gopher, I've watched you for near ten years, various moments have made it obvious you know more than the average person on many technical subjects :P
This is a really cool product, but various tests with steam deck have taught me that some of my favorite but poorly programmed games can't support multiple input modes. Still really cool that this type of keyboard exists.
I also wasted about twice this on building a custom keyboard last black friday, or I'd seriously be tempted despite the issues, the number of options to mitigate issues is impressive.
looks awesome Mr Gopher the lights r cool have to look in to it 👍
Remember looking at a keyboard like this a few years ago but I think it had had optical switches, believe it was like 3 different speeds on, e.g W for forward movement but this sounds much better.
I love it
I wasn't aware this was a thing until now so thanks Gopher I will now have wooting 2 he Mid September for Starfield.
I thought I saw snow in the morning, thinking what that could mean... now that video explains everything! ;)
I am surprised you don't hate keyboard lights as much as me. Hopefully it doesn't light up as a christmas tree when booting up like the corsair does...
I turn them right down, but have certain keys slightly brighter (or different colours) so I can find them easier. You have TOTAL control of the LED.
Thank you for the information.
This does seem really nice, but I don't think I can ever give up the comfort of having low profile keycaps again.
the reason I like my mechanical KB is twofold. 1. its double shot keys so my W A S D letters on the keys will not wear out after three weeks, and 2. I use the backlight to type at night without the need for having a light turned on because I have to be looking at the kb to type or language is not a thing that will happen. lol
last Time i checked in with a keyboard video you only had the one with the specific form.
jeez. it cost $310 AUD with shippping, and i thought my ducky keyboard was expensive of $200
Ahhhhhh christ, yeah I didn't think of that conversion. AUD is in the pits right now :(
Oof, sorry for you mate!
Forget about gaming videos, we need you to start doing product videos. I'm not kidding 😉
Welp you've convinced me to get this keyboard
Mhhh... I think I'll still stick with my Corsair K63 & switch to my 10 year old Xbox 360 controller when in vehicle or playing 3rd person games. 😁
So you're saying I can whip out ancient Home/End/Delete/PgDown keyboard layout for looking around and have it analog
A little overlay that tracks key presses on screen would have been a handy touch, tho I doubt any of them track analogue keyboard presses
Just a little note in case there might be another keyboard review.
i wonder why they havent tried this on gaming keypads. for those it would be perfect
Logitech tried to do something similar on the G13 by having joystick on it but its not the same rly
I never use controllers either. I am mouse+kb ALL the way :)
So... no more Wolf King, eh? Must have been a tough transition. I'm still using a very worn Apex RAW since I'm addicted to having the 2 extra keys on either side of the up arrow. It's going to be a difficult day when this thing finally fails completely.
That's really interesting, I like to indulge myself (waste money) so it's very tempting, even though I'm a pensioner now and should be frugal. Aiming is much better with K&M, but steering is horrible.
Too expensive though. In Australia add $100.
alright this convinced me, copping this
I've been tryin' to invent a new one handed gaming keyboard with ChatGPT, we need to make it happen.
that is a cool keyboard!
Now, if only I had a computer...
Unrelated to the keyboard itself but did Gopher just give us a sneak peak at some things coming to the channel soon?
He has a cyberpunk series already and has said that he intends another for the DLC. He was ALWAYS going to play Starfield on the channel.
Wooting KREAM - Keyboards Rule Everything Around Me.
Gopher will you do a phantom liberty rp?
Amazing
People spending twice the money on keyboards half the size with no number pad, will never make sense to me.
For anyone screaming "$200?!??!!", just remember: You get what you pay for. Not a ridiculous investment for someone who plays game for a living.
Where is the Fallout New Vegas DUST Playt.?
Starfield. No surprise there.
I'm buying one. Thanks, Gopher!
My question is can you turn the lights off? I would find them distracting and annoying.
Yes. You have full control of that sort of thing.
And here is me, who after spending upwards of 400 eur on different mechanical keyboards in the last 5-6 yrs found out that i just prefer the feel of my old membrane Logitech G15. (RIP G15, you were a good buddy, sadly dead from a beer spill)
Disloyalty to the thrustmaster tactical bird- eh... board...!!!
Im old, i need my old Arrow and Key Layout on a Keyboard :D Cant play with wasd xD
I feel you on that.
I have this keyboard! I honestly think its wasted on me though since I rarely play games on pc these days and when I do Ive been using a controller
So how long before we get a rant video because X video game didn't have its programming straight enough to work with Gophers fancy new 200$ keyboard xD
$200!! i think ill just stick with my xbox controller
It's funny how 200€ for a keyboard is actually not that expensive, and people are paying thousands to building custom keyboards.
What joystick do you use? My old extreme 3D pro is a bit dated these days. Doesn't work on some games.
Cheers Bob.
I hate not being able to control my speed...
*Analogue keyboard cost a few years savings*
You know, imperfect control isn't that big of a deal 😐
You know, a year ago I got the best cat in the world, except he's 16 pounds and loves my computer desk. I might need this just for the small size 😂
I think it's called Buffout. You need to tweak one of the settings in the ini file.
Haha keep forgetting you live here in Norway👍
👍 What's the mod that lets you fix that for Fallout 4? I've been looking for such a thing, but I'm having a hard time actually finding one.
It's part of Buffout 4, you probably want to install it anyway cause it fixes lot of stuff at engine level.
Me love da Wootang.
