My daughter has been playing for about 8 months, and I don't know anything about drums, but I KNEW her stand was awful, but your video confirms it! Thank you!!!
Thanks, I'm a guitar player with a drum kit, for my little studio. I mistakenly purchased a standing snare, but turns out it's one of those nice, heavy Yamaha stands. Gonna swap for a kit stand tomorrow.. Nice video, very helpful for us noobs.
Ok i got a very nice Pearl all maple FF snare drum 14 x 6.5. Ive always used a 14 x 5 or 14 x 5 .5 but this snare is deeper which makes it too high even at the lowest setting....im a short guy so in i need it lower . Any ideas ? Should i modify the stand cut it to suit or buy a low rider stand for deep snares ? I'm on a budget and they aren't cheap as you mentioned. Thanks mate.
beginners query; why does my stand's cradle arms not fit the drum in the correct position at around midway between the tension rod brackets at all three points of contact around the drum.. ??.. one of the arms fits ok at one of the point's of contact around midway between any two certain tension rod brackets but the other two arms are near enough fitting and tightening up upon the tension rod brackets at the other two sides of the drum if you know what i mean.. ??.. i have two stands one much heavier and better quality than the other but my drum fits and sits the same on both of them.. ??.. does it actually matter that two of the three points of contact are near enough being tightened up against some of the actual tension rod brackets at two of the three points of contact.. ??.. is there something wrong with my drum.. ??.. i dont think its the stands that are the problem as mentioned above.. ??..
I’m having a problem making my 13” snare sit low enough when I use my 14” snare stand. I’ve got the legs flat on the ground and it’s still too high (it’s a Tama Road Pro stand). Any ideas?
If there is a wing nut or something to tighten it on the side, use pliers or something to tighten it even more it should make it less loose and stop it from moving
Thank you, you teach very well. My stand didn’t come with any instructions at all, just a bunch of warnings, like don’t stick your fingers in the pipes 😬😅.
I’ve been playing drums for years and I still learned a bunch off you in this video, thanks!

How to position stand at drum set. Tilt, leg position between hi hat and bass pedal, snare level.
5:46 that circle part that you need an allen wrench to tighten keeps coming out. Are all stand like that?
Great video
I have a xp 80 snare pad Yamaha but I want to buy an acoustic stand, which do you recommend with a good height stability and grip?? Thank you
