Censorship is ruining America; don't be a part of the problem.
A joke about something bad is not the same as the bad thing. If you link the two you are the issue, not the joke.
You are right, but if a joke is not funny then what's the point of the joke? I've heard amazing jokes about bad things, I find they land even better when they are relatable, so I would find something funnier if it's making fun of something I've been through.
I wouldn't say the joke was offensive, I wouldn't even say the joke was tone-deaf. The joke just wasn't funny and TBH that's even worse if you are a comedian.
He could have apologized for the shitty joke, he could have even ignored the complaints. He decided to defend a stupid, poorly written, poorly delivered, not funny "joke" that's not even his, that "joke" is older than he is. That only speaks against him and his talent.
@@Ares_Vif the joke is not funny then it's not funny, period.

There are a lot of comedians that have offended me, but I would NEVER ask a comedian to censor themselves. @@choosehappy9224you need to learn the difference.
Criticism is when you use your speech to combat someone else's speech. Basically you go "eh I'm not gonna watch this guy anymore." Freedom to do so and respect for those that choose to do it. Or, you could publicly criticize and call him out. Bring him to task. This is also fine to be called criticism.
Cancel culture on the other hand is this vicious attack on his livelihood - to contact agents, vendors, or venues to prevent him from practicing his craft. This is authoritarian and not criticism. If everyone decided they were done with Matt rife, on one hand, then fine: the free market spoke. But if it's an executive call from a small group to just get rid of him, this is a controlled market and goes beyond the purview of criticism. That's what cancel culture refers to.
