Please help me with some basic understanding here. Brahman is everywhere (omnipresent). Atman is omnipresent. When something is omnipresent, it is everything and everywhere. How come we have two different names for the one? If the Brahman is beyond the mind (and also material and energy), how come you are giving so many attributes to it using your mind that is filled with many things (memories, preconditioning etc.) you have heard about Brahman over the internet? According to the Vedanta experts, one should not even say anything about it (because it is beyond the mind). Total silence is what they prefer.

@@texastexas4541 you are confusing Vedanta with new age spirituality and neo-advaita. In proper Vedanta you need to understand the Brahmavidya, the knowledge of Brahman and that is taught by Vedanta. If you go to the Vedanta Society and learn, you will learn the Brahmavidya because you need a conceptual framework to understand the deeper spiritual knowledge. That is what Jason teaches and he was taught by the Vedanta Society. So the so-called experts you mention aren't Vedantists. I would recommend you watch Swami Sarvapriyananda and other Swamis so you can humble your incorrect opinion. Another thing to watch out for which I sensed in your comment is the element of competition. That is a giveaway in a new age person. I am just saying that to you out of kindness so you become aware of that.

It is funny how many people in the comments don't understand what Jason is saying and get triggered by the thumbnail. He is not saying the soul doesn't exist per se, but when you abide in the Atman the Jiva disappears and essentially is not who you truly are. If it is differentiated then it is not one with Brahman. Atman is Brahman. This is pure Advaita Vedanta. Those who don't understand should listen a bit more carefully rather than get triggered. Study the great knowledge so you can learn more and then understand the highest teachings Jason is giving us for free. I wish you all well in coming to that ultimate understanding.

PhD lessons for school students. That's the problem! Teachings from the Avadhuta Gita and the Ashtavakra Gita are only meant for advanced spiritual students who have purified their minds through years of spiritual discipline and are engaged in meditation. These advanced teachings are not meant to be discussed as a video topic for the general public or for the immature students or beginners on this path. It will only confuse them and spoil their faith in spiritual life entirely! Those who have not yet tasted the 'inner bliss' in meditation should not read these books.

      Yeah what can we expect?
The whole world believed the world was flat and when people got to exploring that assumption, some were literally executed.
Its when you give high level knowledge to people who are not ready to question things in the first place, or not have their assumptions shattered that are the first to get triggered.
Just look at car marketing these days, its all about how fast does this go from 0 to 60, how you'll have a luxurious experience etc etc
Why would someone take the energy to go question what a car is, drive many of them and reach conclusions when they can believe other people or the marketing?

The Avadhuta Gita is often considered "dangerous" not in a literal sense, but because it challenges the ego and conventional perceptions of identity. It is a profound spiritual text that delves into non-dualism, emphasizing the dissolution of the ego and the realization of one's true self beyond material and societal constructs. This can be unsettling for those who are deeply attached to their egoic identities, as it encourages a radical shift in understanding one's existence and purpose. The text is revered for its depth in Advaita Vedanta philosophy, but its teachings can be intense and transformative, which might be why some consider it "dangerous" for those unprepared for such a profound spiritual journey. May you continue to unravel the peace within.

soul, in the deep meaning is "the desire to possess". everyone have soul, the more you wish to possess, the more intense your soul will be. enlightened people tend to have subtle souls, the moment they go their souls perished.
we shared the same root, however we could never go back. once your soul perished, there is no "you".
enrich your jiva, so that your divine spirit could grow.
That's the answer you're seeking, atman is divine spirit.
dao and brahman, the same thing, the ultimate truth. what is this ultimate truth?
answer, it's the laws of nature.
following the dao, you're aligning yourself with the laws of nature. you'll be less suffer the more you aligned.
meditation allowed you to visit the absolute peace, without enrichment it won't grow.
is this too hard? probably too hard.
I can try to write a book with thousands of pages but still wouldn't be able to explain exactly what are they. it's something you gotta experience yourself.

It is very simple actually. There are two parts of living being…one is you and other is your. You is singular self and your is multiple and can be never ending in most cases like your mind, your body, your car, your house etc. when you start controlling the yours fulfilment one starts realisation and slowly gets enlightenment which is nothing but knowing the ownself in existence form and letting go all wants which is termed by Maharishi as ego. Now question is why do we need to know one self. Answer is we don’t need to but we need to perform duty of self control to controls the wants emerging from or for “yours”. If we do this we tend to get into a higher state of mind and than we get into a position to understand the next journey of diverging with the supreme. This is applicable to some one who wants to let the you go into supreme and help the natural journey of self realisation and enlightenment.

Anatman is used by the Buddha in order to differentiate what at the time was the prevailing concept of an eternal, unchanging atman in each and everyone of us. It has to be understood in its historical context. Translating it as non-self is confusing, this time in the modern context where Jung refers to a true Self (capitalized).

Hugely interesting expression of a very complex subject. We tend to put things into compartments, but in reality, there are no rigid boundaries. The universe started from nothing and is infinite at the same time!
This now encroaches on quantum theories with different names for the same thing. Buddhism is an expression of what was expressed earlier in elite Sanskrit, while Buddhism brought this extract in the more readily spoken language, Pali.
English teanslation loses the nuances with its limitation of words..
The joyrney is that search forbthat force within which is part of the whole. A bit like the drop on the ocean searching for the ocean when they are one and the same!

What if consciousness = life (that non physical innate will to live) = soul. This would make sense with non-duality. This would also make sense with oneness of the universe (life). Our emerging awareness of consciousness that is separate from the primeval desire to eat survive and procreate brings us closer to that awareness dimension of life. A more comprehensive and dimensional awareness of life.

It sure is a sympathetic idea to bring all eastern traditions into a single strata with an identical ultimate nature as the goal by stating that all (perceived) differences comes down to differences in language only. But is it really that simple? Unless we are actually realised beings continuously resting in that true and absolute nature, do we really know these things correctly? Do we really understand the deepest knowledge of every one of these traditions to be able to determine that the only difference between them is due to linguistics? Can we with certainty say that all traditions not only aim at the same ultimate state but also be confident in that they all have the skilful means needed to lead the practitioner to that final state as well? Are we really that accomplished in all of these traditions to be sure of that?

Let me attempt to explicate some problems here from a modernist spiritual perspective. In games there are always associated rewards when one crosses any threshold within the game. And similar to golf one has to be able to demonstrate proficiency within the public sphere. It's doesn't work to claim one can shoot 4 consecutive rounds of 59. These words are meaningless without the public demonstration. Unfortunately, today, in contradiction to the supernatural claims within these religious/spiritual books, said supernaturalism is non-existent especially within the public domain. Which leaves us solely with phenomenology. . But this too does not come with any objective or empirical associated rewards like one sees in almost every type of game. EXP>. Say one attains mastery over the first Jhana. What would make this coherent in the same manner as any game is if the mastery came with an objective empirical correlate like say LEVITATION. So everyone who masters the first Jhana can display empirical levels of levitation. But this isn't the case, is it...Everything is solely phenomenological. And it's here that every kind of scam, Ponzi, false truth, deceit, can and does infiltrate all spiritual paths and claims. Not to mention the likeliness of every type of gaslighting especially within cultures that lean towards theocracy as a societal structure.
I've just blogged on The Anurag Sagar and it has something to say about the nature of this existence that does not jive with the metaphysics presented in this video...

No. Jeeva is life force. Foreigners don’t understand that there are many different languages in India and therefore many different words are used for the same thing… jeeva is another word for “life” in terms of “having life” like “life force”. Eg: “His jeeva is gone…” means life has left his body… prana is breath jeeva is life. Atma is soul this is same for everyone… atman is the self a soul that carries experience from many different life times so it’s different for everybody and no two atmans can ever be the same - cause you know people are unique no two experiences can ever be the same etc etc… once the atman is gone only atma is left for everybody… kind of like phones… no two phones can ever have the same data… but if the data is wiped out then just the default software is left… somewhat like that… our mission is to go back to default then erase that as well so that it can never be copied into another device ever! 🙏🏼

This is called mayavadi philosophy or impersonalism and has been at odds with Vaishnavism/montheistic religion since time immemorial. However, the greater truth is Vaishnavism which explains beyond brahman conception is the para brahman or Supreme Being KRSNA! the brahman being the light rays emanating from Lord Krsna's body. Brahman is the atmosphere of the spiritual world and is blissful but not fully satisfying to the soul. So ultimately yogis who achieve nirvana/brahman merging must return to the material world. This is called the up/down syndrome, where they desire liberation from suffering and karma and then fall back into desire, mukti bhukti. The soul cannot be satisfied until it is again united with the Supreme soul Krsna in love, at that time the souls transcend mukti/bhutki cycle, and pirces through the blinding brahman effulgence and is reunited with Krsna. Krsna then solemnly swears the realized soul, now one in love and will, will never again return to this miserable world of birth and death. Read Bhagavad Gita PEACE OUT BROTHERS!
