- Is the world truly getting better? Or are we perceiving life through rose-colored glasses as we continually acquiesce to a degenerate society governed by the religion of technology? According to the world-age doctrine of the Hindu Yugas, no, the world is not getting better, and we are actually in the darkest age known as the Kali Yuga. As a result, the further we descend into the Kali Yuga, one of the more visible aspects of this age is degeneracy, and it is slowly but surely infecting the soul of humanity.

NOTE: There are two systems of the Yugas: the original and traditional long-count system attributed to the Puranas authored by the great sage Vyasa, and the short-count system from Sri Yukteswar. These are the only two systems. The traditional system from the Puranas is the authority over the Yugas, which is where the concept came from in the first place. This concept would not have been known if not for Vyasa. For some reason in the modern day, people on social media and self-proclaimed gurus want to make up their own version of the Yugas or claim that the scriptures were wrong, as if they are greater than Vyasa. To learn from the Yugas, you need to accept the Puranas as they are and not change them to suit yourself. It is really strange when people want to make up their own interpretation. If you don't believe we are in the Kali Yuga, then why is there exponential growth in depression, mental health, psychotic episodes, and suicide, just to name a few things? Those facts speak to the fact that we are only on a steep decline. Another fact to consider is that life in the Satya Yuga (the golden age) is simple, people don't have a lot of material possessions, there is a deep collective sense of unity consciousness over and above individual subjective consciousness, and the majority are centered on God consciousness, which governs the world. We are definitely not in any other Yuga than the Kali Yuga according to the traditional system, as is evidenced by the growth in consumerism and hyper-individualism. I had a personal revelation :
That we are in the ""4th Aeon" in the Samkhya count". This was before I knew about the concept of "yuga" and "Samkhya"; So, when I eventually came across these concepts, I then realized that we must be in the 4th kali-Yuga cycle.

Jason could be chilling at Arunachala or some retreat center somewhere in the world with a smile on his face thinking I'll let them folks go insane, I'm shanti, I'm good, no problem. But instead, Jason is totally inspired and driven by a will to help us reach that frequency that he is in and can benefit humanity. Society is progressing but in the wrong direction. Social media reminds me of this parable.
One day in ancient China a young man thought he had become enlightened. He wrote a poem to his master about how he was not blown by the eight winds. Then he sent it to his master who lived three hundred miles up the Yangtze River.
When his master read the poem, he wrote “Fart, Fart” on the bottom and sent it back.
The more the young man read those words, the more upset he got. At last he decided to visit his master. In those days, a three-hundred mile trip up the Yangtze River was a very difficult journey.
As soon as he arrived, he went straight to his master’s temple. “Why did you write this?” he asked, bowing. “Doesn’t this poem show that I am no longer blown about by the eight winds?”
“You say that you are no longer blown by the eight winds,” replied the master, “but two little farts blew you all the way up here.”
Thats a very wise and insightfull story.
Somehow this story speaks to my internal reaction to this video. I sort of see this video as the "fart fart" and I am the young man contemplating if I've reached some notable point. 😅

Yes! I have the feeling, that these Yuga cicles are a collective, but also a personal thing. One has always the possibility, to awaken into Satya Yuga. We don`t have to wait for the rest of the "unawakened people". Because ultimately there are no sleeping others and there is no world, there is only absolute freedom. If that makes any sense :D

Thank you for this video Jason. I feel so alone with my thoughts about these things sometimes. Most people do not seem to contemplate or care about these things. I see suffering and inequality everywhere I look. Depression, suicide, homelessness. And I live in a western country, the "richest" country in the world supposedly, and we cannot even take care of our own citizens. Yet people are flaunting ridiculous material possessions on social media. It's just sick to me. We are sick, as a species. imho. For me a spiritual solution seems to be the only relief or way to navigate this madness. Your video has given me a lot to contemplate. 🙏

Vyasa means “compiler” and has been ascribed to several texts which cannot have been written by the same person, as shown by a lack of consistency in the grammar and style as well as the huge disparity in time of writing for the various documents. There is no contemporary evidence of anything attributed to Vyasa close to his historical lifetime, and it is far more likely that there were numerous compilers - all anonymised as per Indian tradition - rather than one Sage responsible for all of these major texts. This is the prevailing view of modern scholars 🙏🏻

@@gsp2040I would not get too hung up on names and terminology. Absolute Reality is the same regardless of name. There are different methods to reach the same, each person is different and more suited to one way or another. Vijnana Bhairava Tantra mentioned by Jason above gives a choice of 112 to choose from to reach union with Absolute Awareness, in the Kaula tradition, Lord Shiva. Gradually all is sublimated to pure Awareness.

As far as spiritual things go I believe things are getting worse. I feel there is less love and respect for each other. On the financial side things might be looking better in certain parts but not in the U.S. . It looks like it's all going down the toilet.
Still the most important part is the Spiritual. I believe if that is in order then the rest starts to fall in place

Thanks for this. Many new age/"spiritual" people are talking about coming better times. I think you preferred one "sad guru". I listened this and already forgot somethings which you said. But you talked about many great points. How there can be better times coming when pornography is the most consumed thing is this world. Alcoholism other addictions, mental health problems are everywhere,. And people are not interested about these problems. At least not enough to make change soon. Also most people are very selfish. Wars are everywhere, starvation etc.
Swami Sarvapriyananda talked in one podcast about spirituality and happiness: selflessness, instead of selfishness, focus instead of distraction, love instead of desire and knowledge of the Self rather of the knowledge of the world. I think he described about kali yuga even it wasn't the question.
🙏; I believe in human intelligence, when I published my most recent book, I signed a form to the effect that I did not use AI at all.
Maybe the world is getting worse, or maybe it's getting better. It's hard to know with limited information. If you measure by population which seems responsible, it's growing is that better or worse, and for which the organism or the individual? What is life doing? Do we have a clue? And what purpose is our roll in whatever it is? No, I don't think we are even capable of understanding at our present state of development. We know so little yet think we know so much. I would say to stay open to all possibilities. Thank you for your devotion and efforts to help.

Jason you nailed it on the head. I can't claim to understand the sages and their writings but they I believe there is more there than we have been shown or even allowed to know about. I believe the Christian church breeds a lot of fear yet there seems to be so much wisdom that goes untouched. It's like the church seeks to keep us dumbed down and not growing spiritually. Even now as I am seeking wisdom and understanding there is a sense of fear of getting off track and loosing my salvation. Thankfully curiosity has carried me this far and the realization of the controls put in place over society to enslave us.
OMG - this video needs to go viral; well done JG for addressing what politicians and the leaders of this world, should be focused upon, along with all the sheeple feeding into these misguided agenda's, including parents and what it means to `parent' your child in the modern world. Also, for me personally, I feel the dark side of India stems from the sexually depraved filth, which the Bollywood scene constantly promotes; there is absolutely NO social responsibility shown by the actors and actresses, they just want to be famous and in the money, including the Directors of these movies and the consistent message, which is portrayed in these movies around sexual innuendo, lust, the female as objects of sexual pleasure only and quite frankly, when not educated to a certain level, leads to a dangerous impact on the female population within India.
Quite right, I took a Guru back in the day in my twenties and still to this day practice the kriya given to me, however, I do not follow the Guru around, as I can't afford to. Most of my time now is spent, listening to Swami Svarvapriyananda from the NY Ved Soc, along with Swami Tadatmananda from the NJ ArshaBodha Ved Soc and Swami Pravrajika Divyanandaprana on her VivekaVani channel.

Glad you mentioned pornography, it almost destroyed my life and I'm still recovering mentally from years of watching. I had no role models as a kid to tell me it was wrong to watch it. Of course scientists will tell you there's no "proof" pornography is harmful. I just don't understand how people can champion women's rights and also support pornography.

Well I hope everyone has fun with the Kali Yuga. I am not coming back here to witness it. This is too much crazy for me and it'll probably get worse. Don't think I'm a good fit for all this.
I am confused, if there is nothing we can do about the Kali Yuga, should we not be accepting of it and the things that it brings about, ie: social media, war, famine, disease, unrest, etc? Should we not accept we have incarnated at this time and space to experience the dissolution of all we love? Being angry will do nothing to change our fate, so loving acceptance seems to be the answer; we are here to participate in this universal reality of the Kali Yuga. However, if the Yugas are not real, but rather spiritual nonsense much like heaven and hell, shouldn’t we do all we can to dispel the myth? Perhaps living our lives the best we can and allowing others the same fate, even if it involves social media, is all we need do.

Perhaps many people are not ready to understand the ultimate truth. For them, it must be most comforting to act spiritual. This is cetainly no where near as threatening to the ego as the truth of Brahman. I firmly believe every Atman must find their own path to Brahman.

Clearly stated in the Puranas. The Bhagavata and Vishnu Purana. I mentioned that in the video. The Puranas are the authority on the Yugas. Please read my pinned comment to know more.
One thing you notice with a false guru, is they themselves will claim that: "I have never read the scriptures", (almost as if they are bragging) and they will also say that: "the study of scriptures is not necessary.
There's also a certain egotistical smugness about them that bothers me. Most of the time, these are the so-called spiritual teachers that I encounter.
More people have woken up in these times than for so very long. So ‘getting better’ may not be the case but awakening from the slumber yes. And despite all the terrible things that occur now there are many good things too. But discussing the positive does not serve the agenda.

I struggle with giving up thoughts of progression.
Even when I try and learn of spirituality, the idea of progression is a thread woven into what I learn.
I am American, but it isn't the Western societal kind with overt sexuality and hedonism that I cannot understand.
But is spiritual progression not what I am seeking?
I am unsure if these progression are the same, or am I confusing different ideas?
I suspect they are of the same base, but I am unsure how to remove this desire and still have spiritual inquiry.
I am rather stuck on this and tend towards judging myself rather harshly.
Jason, have you checked the timeline of yugas in The Holy Science? It is not 43200 years.. Its only about 2000 years for Kaliyuga..
If its only going to get worse and worse in the world because we're in the kali yuga (because thats whats destined to happen in kalyug) Then is there any point in trying to do anything to prevent that or is it just hopeless. Is there any hope in kali yuga rather that to just wait for the next Sat yuga?
One must use the limited time in this human form & facility to "wake up" & achieve (G-d) Krishna-Consciousness. Pure unadulterated Bhakti Yoga (Devotional Service) has 9 steps. The first is hearing, the second is speaking, the third (most important) is remembering. Seek out a Real Spiritual Master (Guru). Srila Prahbuhpada founder of ISKCON & acharya (teaching-Guru) is a good place to start. By the end of the Kali-Yuga tho even Religious Activities will be tinged with mere going through the motions & insincere. Kali-Yuga is literally Age of Hypocrisy & Violence. To paraphrase Srila-Prahbuhpada "even if one devotee can become a pure devotee then this International Society of Krishna Consciousness, then our efforts, this movement is a success."

I guess humans can't stop kaliyuga it have to to end by itself and start Circle of life again... I'm sure Vishnu watching all of us how low we've became but still there's few people who follow dharma

I am talking about mental state of people and change that had happened: from being alive- to being in coma while thinking that they are alive. Only few notice that change, because the majority of people got cooked like frogs.
There is a Paramatma Bhagwan Guru in this world. He's in plain sight but the heart still needs purification in order for the world to see Him and recognise that He has Bodhigyan and He is complete in the Maitri Bhav.

@@renakmans3521 Read and listen to apostates and think if they were sincere in their pursuit and if they are, why would they be dishonest in their cautionary descriptions if they have a passion for truth? Maybe nothing to gain but much to lose by risking being targeted after speaking personal truth.
If one has years worth of knowledge, one can often spot where the guru is just winging it and shooding it all off the hips. They might even make claims concerning other past or present gurus (divinity by association) which a person knowledgeable about the other guru knows there is a contradiction.
And so forth.
Unfortunately many people do not have deep correct intuition about other people.
We can easily mix up personal and temporary feelings and experience as being a true North compass about others when it is not.
A person who can evoke or facilitate changed states of mind does not equate some kind of a Divine Avatar, you know what I mean?
oh yeah, forgot the obvious: their personal behavior, character and habits etc.
What about Sadhguru then? He is enlightened and he agrees with Shri Yukteswar. They both say we are in Dwaparayuga.
Sadhguru is not enlightened. Vyasa was enlightened and we have all of the texts because of him. I find it odd that people are fooled by Sadhguru.

Per the Kalki Purana, the enemy of the age is the Kali Man Demon, which grew from Lord Brahma's back spine when he created the words 'Man' and 'Woman', forcing his consort Saraswati to divide from him. Divinity carry their consorts in their spine, so the Kali Man Demon *IS* the dark feminine divine, yet cast into a cage of blind context that it does not natively understand.
Thus the Kali Man Demon is "masculinized Venus", which is living illusion masquerading as God. It is unwittingly maleficent. "Feminized Mars" is their nemesis, Kali Maa. The inner Form of the KMD has already been destroyed - we are bound to feel turbulence as this evolution cascades.

Avidya is not to do with being materialistic, it's about identity. Spiritual awakening shows one their true nature as pure (not opposite of dirty, but meaning nothing else in it) consciousness instead of thoughts you keep having about yourself. You can be austere and "meditate" all day long without having actual "spiritual" realization. People don't understand what spiritual means. Nobody does as ignorance is inherent in the soul. New age has that egoistic ally twisted, that all knowledge is within you. It's not. Ignorance is inherent to the soul. Even Srimad Bhagavatam says that if you don't believe experience but scriptures.
It means the truth of YOU. Not self image but non-identification with individual self. You wake up from yourself and you are not there to get enlightenment.
That's the reason people get violent when you question their beliefs and conclusions, they find themselves that way. You cannot think your way to the truth of "Bhagavan", "Purusha" or "Krishna". Consciousness is the subject, not an object.
I'm suggesting if you wake up in the Kali Yuga it's much more acute.

There were blotches of dwapar yuga on the Earth after second world war (Yugoslavia from 1948 till 1980, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia in seventeens, while at the same time - Kali yuga in neighboring Kongo. You cannot interpret Bhagavadgita literally. I am in no follower of Sadgury by any length, but I believe it is more likely than not that he got it right on yuga interpretation.

As far as moral degeneracy and material things sure. But as far as clean water, starvation in third world countries, we have significantly better food and clean water compared to previous generations. Also better access to medical care. These are the first generations countries like Indonesia has ever experienced free health care. When my dad was a kid, he was in an orphanage. He had to hustle selling whatever he could make to get Banana peals, Papaya skin and grubs if he was lucky just to eat. That was considered a luxury for him and many others like him. The next generation My cousin's were lucky to be able to be sponsored by humanitarian agencies to be able to survive. After the world wars, there was nothing. Only the fittest survived and the rest perished. As far as Poverty and just basic human necessities we are better off these days whether that be throughout Asia, Africa and other third world countries. When I listen to the stories from old uncles and aunties both now here and there. It was crazy. People had to give up their family members because they couldn't feed them, clothe them or give them the basic necessities. I'm not saying this doesn't still happen but not nearly as much as it used to. Those generations were hard people because they had no choice. These days at least they have a choice. Nobody can fight battles on empty stomachs. From the comfort of our houses I think it can be easy to forget how well we have things. New times just different problems. As messed up as things may be now, we still have the luxury to choose. Previous generations didn't have that luxury

This is an interesting heart felt response I know. However our systems created what you term 3rd world in the first place. Much of the poverty is created by systems out of balance. Even the supply chains producing the choice of food we have (which you laud) as denatured as most is, are slowly but surely destroying nature and bringing about even greater calamities ahead. When we consider the yuga, we consider the big picture, not the local situation in one location, in a speck of time.
The real indicator of this age is how prevalent ignorance is. Scan across society from the lowest to the highest, and you see a lack of understanding of the unity of existence. There is precious little appreciation of the impact of even seemingly benevolent changes, which more often then not steal from one person, or his support system, to give to another. There is entropic degradation wherever you look.
I think about this too. But nowadays people are starving while obesity is more common than starvation and it would be easy to help them, yet Kali yuga selfishness does not do it. We have over abundance and still we don't share. Also it's not far away this over abundance drives Earth beyond it's limits and there will be mass starvation ahead, even in wealthy places. Short sighted selfishness is Kali yuga.
