Back when I can tell an S, C a E class apart from just glancing at their lights. Now it all looks the same.
It doesn't, you can still tell them apart by just glancing at their lights
@@adampavella1225 Not nearly as easily noticeable as it used to be tho
Literally looks like a e550 😂. W204s too
For real tho
I'm glad you said this. we have the same taste. This was when Mercedes was at its peak!!
The E-Class always has been my favorite Mercedes, & this W212 is my Favorite E-class, a dream car for me😍
Miss mine everyday. Starting up the V8 was a nice start to everyday, and was something to look forward to after work
I love mine and I will never sell it
I'm torn between the design of the facelifted W212 E63 and the pre-facelifted W213 AMG E63 (in a dark color so it hides the "black mustache" as I like to call it, in the bumper), as both are such beautiful sedans. But I do agree that from 2014 to 2020 or so that the interiors were a nice blend of analog buttons and switches with digital implementations.
This model is their best looking e-class but this facelift wasn’t perfect. The pre-facelift had a more angular front and angular headlights but when they did the refresh, they softened up the front and changed the headlights but they left the rear to remain boxy and with the old taillight shape. It looks like two different cars joined together. They had just come with a new c-class and wanted to bring the e-class up to the new design language and so they just gave it the new c-class front and called it a day and for that, I always thought this model looked a bit odd because I could see a new front design language but also see the old design language on the rear. Still the best looking e-class though.
Never read a more spot on comment. W212R still best looking E63 but you’re right it feels like 2 cars merged together. 2014-2017 CLS63 has to be the best looking sedan Mercedes has made recently
Word. That original W212 is one of the cleanest grille/badge combos ever. Saw this car with the new Panamericana grille retrofitted and it looked even more bizarre
Just bought one and let’s just say…money can buy happiness. This thing is a true beauty
By far the best looking modern E-Class.
My w212 was perfect, all I did was add an aftermarket car play system that looks OEM (no wires or extra screen added) and it’s perfect now
How long have you owned it? I’m looking into one now worried about buying a 10 year old car but I hear the W212 is a tank
@@theday2learn Yes, I have had my w212 for nine years now. There is a reason why I haven't moved on despite the dealer offering upgrades. The W212 is, in my opinion, the perfect car. My spec is fully loaded (autopilot assist, 360 camera, real leather interior, adaptive headlights. etc...) so its special to me. Engine and transmission have given me no problems at all, just a misfire that got covered by warranty years ago. I would say tho, be careful of the electric stuff tacked on. As for me, since I have all the bells and whistles, it was more prone to failure (uncommon tho). Ex: My adaptive headlight function went out and was quite costly to fix and to add, my electrically powered steering wheel moved up and down but not in and out which was luckily covered by warranty.
Overall the car is solid, rides like butter on the highway, it quiet and a great place to sit in. Mercedes needs to remember their excellency with the w212. Just be aware of the options you can get with the car because many specs are base. Like I mentioned above, the adaptive headlights are optional extra but they are a different design that really helps the car age well.
Let me know if you have more questions.
PS: I have added a carplay module to the OEM screen and it works perfect.
Where did you get the CarPlay system?
@@rivasman123 company called EuNavi makes them
I always considered the W212 the last real standalone E-Class! Every design since either looks like a big C-Class or a small S-Class! I'm still looking for the perfect W212 E550 or E63! VERY desirable car indeed!!!
The headlights of this models where the best for this year. So bright and clear even with rain
M157 e63 is an amazing engine.. damn near perfection
Anyone else prefer the angular pre-facelift? Just looks like a more cohesive and resolved design overall.
Very interested in your opinion about the 2nd gen Mercedes CLS design as I think it is the most beautiful Merc ever.
I agree 👍 💯
The distinguishable Era....I love this car
I got mine since 7 years and i gotta say, it IS the best Sedan out there. The looks, the sound and the unforgettable M157. Just a perfect all in one! Never gonna sell that thing. Never.
7 years ? Anything crazy on maintenance
@@4gomez7trying to know also
@@grandmastagrimm8773 what u think bout the m157 over the 56?
@@4gomez7 if I could have either one I’d go with the m157
What has maintenance been like?
FYI, wrong on the power figures for this particular E63. It’s the non S model, it’s actually 550hp and 531lb ft of torque. The S is 577 and 590.
This this was faster than the M5 back in the Day
This man is right, any MB with the 5.5L V8 is truly a masterpiece of a car. MB really perfected the 5.5L V8, for whatever reason, the engine is absolutely rock solid, super reliable, great power. The 6.3L is a BEAST of an engine but it ain't no masterpiece. While BMW perfected the inline 6 MB perfected the V8.
The M157 is most certainly not super reliable. If it was Mercedes would not give owners an extended warranty on the engine and replace engines for free due to losing compression in the rear two cylinders.
rock solid LOL ya cylinder scoring sure is rock solid 🤡
@@WHTMAN-ei7ik BS of Mr Tosos. Not super reliable, if you tune it to 1000 h p. It is not design for that.
@@raspberryarizonait’s not as bad as everyone puts it. I’ve had mine for 5 years tuned and it’s good. Service it every 5000kms it’s fine and don’t beat on it when cold (why would you?). Max torque on stock block shall not exceed 1100 nm torque or goodbye stock rods
@@seanny88 What year is yours? It's just I've seen a number of people with this problem with the m278/m157 regardless of which model its in.
The W212 will forever be the best looking E63. Coupled with that roaring V8, it’s a masterpiece
That’s it I’m getting one next week
you are right this looks so much better than the new ones
Pre facelift E63 w212 was better. Post facelift the car looked more generic and they flatted the flare of the rear fender.
I have a e350 and absolutely love it every way. Even the e350 is super fast and can heat most cars on the road even most sports cars so I can't imagine an amg. Besides the price my only issue with the amg is the gas miles.
I've wanted one for a while, but those are some expensive cars. I bet the W212 will be keeping its value better than the W213.
Not really, They depreciate horribly.
@@benjaminarthur6110 If you’re talking about the UK market then yes, picking one up can be cheap. However, continental Europe has W212s listed at sky high prices, some still costing well upwards of 50 grand.
If you're okay with a higher mileage one you can get it for around $30k or less. Just be prepared to have to spend a few grand in maintenance, plus the possibility of needing a new engine harness, ecu, and engine rebuild (there are some common issues with the M157 that can be catastrophic). Don't let that deter you, my old one is living on with my friend and at this point has over 125k miles
the audio and video sometimes don‘t match for instance when you talk about the LEDs and the video shows you pointing at the hood lines. maybe if you correct that this format would improve a little bit more.
one of my favourite sedans out there. Trying to get my hands on a E250 CDi W212 or if possible an E350 CDi W212
My dream car.
I like the facelift tail light, but I prefer the prefacelift headlights
Nice video! But,this is not an S model. Wrong figures. It's 550hp 531 torque. The S model has the 577hp and 590 torque.
A master mercedes-benz mechanic told me to run away from the m157. It has too many problems. I went for the 2019 E63s instead
He/she probably didn't want u to having it
This facelift model is the best looking E-class behind the W124
Top modern looking e class in my opinion
Such a beautiful looking car
Yikes,,17:41 turbo lag.. And I love my 2010 E63 naturally aspirated 6.2(3). Mine has had a full top end rebuild, and a tune. The extra 100hp livens up the n/a engine. I want long headers next and a decat exhaust. Another tune.
I'd like to see a retro-design of the CLS-class Mercedes Benz from the 1980s (same era as models W126 and W124).
Could it be done?
that would be so cool, wouldnt it be like an SEL?
@@norissalajan CLS-Class is between E-Class and S-Class.
SEL is a S-Class with longer wheelbase
@@hentehoo27 ohh, ok
The CLS wasn't introduced until 2004. The closest thing you could get to it would be the c124 coupe. Make it into 4 doors and there you have a cls.
I would chop my left one for that car. My dream car lost out to my dream Garage
Facelifted w212 is a underestimated gem
2018 face with 2014 rear 🔥
My tip take the m156 E63 from 2011 and put the facelift on.
Hey man I just wanted to know if there is a break down of the design of the new Zenvo Aurora, in the near future. Would love to get you take on it.
Are you sure that this has wide fenders in the rear? I think they are the same width as a regular e class, just the front ones are bit wider
This and also the s65 amg with 6l tt v12 were the best mercs possibly the best sedans ever
day 1 of asking TSM to modernise the Cadillac Cien
Best looking E class by far
You should do a video on the W211 E63.
I don't know that it's the "best" AMG, but this model is probably the most compelling bargain. You don't need to be a millionaire to own one... although I'd probably still want to have a really good day job, or a nice big nest egg. Folks that don't know any better are attracted to the relatively low price, only to find out that good ol' fashioned Mercedes rub - the cost of maintenance!
Especially the $2200 you spend on front rotors lol
Sadly we didn't have the AWD version of this car in the UK
It has aged well ❤
Had an 05’ E55 AMG it was a beautiful machine. I just might trade in my Scatpack Charger for an E63 😎 “might”… 😁😉
I want to buy this model some day
Yeah but how do you bulletproof that motor every single AMG that I've looked at with 5.5 l either has head studs or on the later ones they seem to tear apart cylinder 5.
I can deal with the chains. Understandably, even as a European car 100,000 mi is pretty good on a set of chains. However, cylinder 5. The Piston seems to come apart and then it scratches the block so bad that it's destroyed the whole entire motor😅
Lighter, cheaper and better looking than the CLS 63 S, great car!
this to me is the best looking E class and among the best looking mercs with the only better looking one being the SLS
Please review the 2014 c63s
this one only has 550hp not 577 as it is not the s model, which comes with alcantera steering wheel and carbon fiber engine cover.
It's a great sedan but the W213 is an improvement IMO
How does this compare to the F10 M5?
Honestly 2016 cls63 looks way more beautiful and is just as powerful as this
I disagree. The cls63 definitely does not look better.
shhh, don't say that, I'm looking for CLS used, I don't wanna get competitors lol
😂@@mortensenvick5711
Did you say W12 engine in the beginning?
How much can I get this
E55 FTW!
glares at you in E63
Ehhh the cls 63 amg are tough to pass up on
Very beautiful car
Still want one
Do a peugeot 308cc modernisation.
What is that driving postion? The back of seat is too far back
I guess you forgot about the CLS 63s AMG
I have this exact car year, make, model and color different rims tho
Curious on folks opinions of the w212 vs the w204?
I assume you want the opinion on the 63 AMG's of the respective generations. W204 is more raw and "unleashed", it is quite a dangerous car to drive, but fun at that. All of them had the M156. It's also smaller, nimbler and stiffer. W212 is much more idiot-proof with all its safety systems and most of them came with 4matic. It's bigger, more comfortable and more suited for long distance highway cruising at high speeds. It still handles brilliantly though and is a true M5 competitor. Early ones had the M156 but they later switched to twin turbo M157 which I think better suits this car, although I personally prefer the M156 just for its sound.
@@adampavella1225 appreciate that insight. I have an m340 and will be looking to add a NA v8 to the garage. Can't decide between W212, W204, or the B8.5 RS5. Seems like the w204 coupe may be the best bang for the buck.
I wanna get both. They are just different.
Back when Mercedes built cars, not toys
255 and 285 is staggered or?
the only problem with these is they came in such boring colors: white, black, gray, and the worst dark gray.
I own a newer model of this vehicle. I don't know who speced this vehicle, but they didn't do a decent job. Who gets a wood dashboard on an amg. Black and other black or carbon fiber bits were offered. This is the vest model on my opinion, but the interior let's it down. I have updated the GPS to 2020 software and the screen is too small. I onky use GPS and despise using Carplay or Auto in any vehicle. On a last note, I wouldn't get white and try paying for maintenance costs and just used car costs. That 35k plus is a joke. It's going to cost you way more in mileage maintenance, replacements, even oil changes are way more and more than a regular Mercedes high price. As us Mercedes owners say...if you can't afford it, don't buy it.
Why did you stop redesigning car? i enjoyed that series. come on dude
Evolution of the channel, I personally really dislike it. Nonetheless, it seems like people are liking it.
Nice review but in the end I still haven't learned why it might be the BEST AMG sedan ever made
Owner's taste.
Because he likes it and it's reliable.
@@nevinkuser9892is it really reliable thoo
One of the best generations, so pretty...I'll be in the market for one of these soon, or an f13 gen 650i xdrive coupe , but leaning more towards the Benz . mmmmm 😍
the new zenvo aurora megacar just dropped
Please redesign the w211
Perfect daily
Mercedes designs used to look good. Theyre abit hit and miss on the front end lateley
Mercedes built quality…..10 seconds later and it rattles like a 2001 Ford Focus 🤣
19:50 those rattles are too much 😕
I found it funny when you said that era of Mercedes had the best build quality when that was literally the worst era of build quality from Mercedes ever, they were so far behind their revils inside, luckily they also had the the best engine by far
As a potential buyer of an used 2013-2017 CLS 63 AMG S, could you explain that? I'm new to mercedes world, my daily is a 2019 audi SQ7. Thanks.
@@mortensenvick5711 Mercedes was just cutting more corners when it came to their interior, infact they still.do that today,it looks really good but when you look closer its alota cheap plastic
However i wouldn't care because atleast that era AMG's were not these rock hard riding cars we have today, they were comfortable and the engine alone makes up for any flaw
Quiero mí Mercedes!!!!!! Viva Peugeot Too!🍊
Not W12, W212
M157 engines have a whole host of issues, do your research before buying one of these cars.
Love the exterior....but the interior not so much
Not the best in any world, its predecessor has a way better engine, its successor also has a better engine. The M157 is the worst recent V8 MB made. Moreover, the W222 has a better looking and now their price is similar.

Newer Merc designs all are like smooth blobs, not muscular or aggressive 👎
18-2020 is the best
Also one of the worst tail light rear end designs 🤮
You’re insane lol those lights are sick
You amazingly beautiful ❤ E63 AMG
“Bumpers were still a thing in 2014” He must be American. Laughable.
Best amg engine ever made by merc
0-60 4.2 sec
3.2....both e 63 amg s and audi RS7 did 3.2 seconds back in 2014
Way too much attention on exterior design
Gosh he drives like such a fish 🐟
CLS way nicer
W212 looks 10x better than this
You are soft design Man
Too new. Mercedes went low quality from 2014 and beyond.
