I think the best part of Retro Achievements for me is the fact that they actually support a ton of rom-hacks and homebrew which I have been playing a lot of lately!
I got a question 3:20 im stuck here befause when i enter my username and password , it doesnt let me know whether im logged in or not or if i did it correctly
When you plug in your UN/PW in the settings, it's not going to log into anything initially, it's just set up to then enter those credentials every time you load a game that is compatible. So is it not popping up for you with the notifications after a game is launched at all? If this is the case there are a few things to check: First off go to the Settings Column -> User Interface -> On-Screen Notifications and make sure that the setting "On-Screen Notifications" is ON. Next go to Settings Column -> Achievements and double check that it is saving your UN/PW and then go to "Visibility" and make sure that "Unlock notifications" is set to ON. If you checked both of these areas and it looks like all of the settings are in order how they should be, exit out of RetroArch and find the RetroAchievements config file like I did in the video around 5:27 and make sure your credentials are saved in there and CORRECT. Double check you can login with your UN/PW on the website just fine. Beyond this I am not sure, if you aren't seeing anything popup though it really sounds to me like the notifications are jsut turned off. Also if you arent on the newest version on PC there is a good chance it's not going to work. I have no idea how it works with Steam or on consoles as I strictly use this on PC, I have heard these versions are very different though and don't have all of the same features as the PC one.
@ idk what i did but the acheievemtns popped out again. Do i have to login everytime for a new game or for a game i already played before? Do i have to login through achievements or user?
@ the acheievemtns notifications is fine i just dont know whther im actually logged in or not unless im in a actual game. It sucks. Is there a way to know if im logged on without entering a game? Becsuse idk soemtimes if its a particular game that doesnt have acheievemtns or if im just not logged on.
@@jg2722 So you dont actually stay logged in when you arent in a game. The credentials that you input in the settings just sit there waiting to be input automatically when a game starts up. If you don't see anything that means the game isnt supported probably. You only need to login once and then you should be good forever. I have my info in there and whenever I launch a game that is supported it tells me im in and ready to go. If you have a game that is pretty popular or that you think should likely be included with achievements you can just check the website and see if it's supported or not. Edit: Sometimes it is just a matter of getting the correct version. Like maybe it's the Japanese file you need or rev 2 or something like that.
Another great video. I had no idea they had achievements for retro games. Have you tried to go for achievements that took you through areas or situations you have never faced before?
Hmmm, when you say "load core" are you just referring to needing to have a core loaded within RetroArch? If so you might just need to check out my RetroArch setup guide to see how to get cores loaded and roms all setup. If you have rom playlists setup correctly it will automatically be assigned to the correct core that you have downloaded (this is all covered in that tutorial video). From there you just need to sign up with Retro Achievements, log in and play a compatible game. ua-cam.com/video/sdEQklRf24I/v-deo.html
@@WatsonatorTV yes the load core within retroarch. I wish to play game cube games (more specifically Paper Mario the thousand year door) but i need the dolphin emulator so i download/installed it via Linux, but this ends my knowledge of what to do.
Hmmm, off the top of my head I can't say for certain but I will try to list some things to check. Are you on Windows? I know that the Achievements arent compatible with all platforms/versions. Also, make sure you have the newest possible update of RetroArch (you can download the archived update and just drag and drop the folder onto your retroarch folder to update to the newest version, that way you keep all of your same settings). If you are on the newest version and are on Windows, make sure your account is working on the achievements website and you can log in fine and everything. At this point if it's not working I would guess that the game list you are using is just not working correctly for whatever reason. I am not sure if Retro Achievements searches the meta data or what (I doubt it has anything to do with file names, that would be a headache). So maybe try to download a few new romsets and see if those work or not, that will tell you if you need to get full new sets or not. I get most of mine here: archive.org/download/no-intro-2021 I would also double check that there isn't a firewall or antivirus program that could be interfering (I doubt it, but worth a check). I will continue to think about this and update you if I think of anything else. If none of this helped I would try to speak to the folks at the RetroARch reddit or the libretro discord: www.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/ discord.com/servers/libretro-184109094070779904
@@romaantonyan467 Hey there. So PS2 can be very finicky with RetroArch and I like to use the standalone PCSX2 emulator for anything PS2 related. I have The Simpsons Hit and Run in my library so just for the heck of it I tried it through RetroArch and it wouldn't work for me either, it just said "achievements cannot be activated with this core." It's weird though because there is only a single PS2 core for RetroArch and I tried a few other games and the achievements seem to work just fine in RA. After doing a little research it appears that the achievements used to not work at all through the RetroArch core for PS2 and you were required to use a standalone emulator but they have slowly been adding support for games I believe. As soon as I ran the game through PCSX2 all of the achievements popped up just fine though, so I'm assuming it's just a RetroArch or core issue that they are slowly working on. I wish I had a better answer for you but I do highly recommend using any PS2 games through PCSX2 standalone emulator as the compatibility is way better and games run smoother (plus the achievements seem to work better). I will likely be doing a video on PCSX2 in the near future also. Good luck.

Yes actually, learned some new things and easter eggs in a few games that I was unaware of.

Is it possible to disable your activity status being updated on the website? I turned off Rich Presence but that didn’t seem to do anything.

All of the NES ones are amazing and the SNES too but I think the Genesis one is my favorite. It has multiple characters and weapon selections.
